I'm always mystified by the difference between the lectrosonics 201 and 211, and its next generation 401 and 411. i now hav a deal for a used pair of 201s which costs cheaper than the pair of 211s. so just like to find out if the difference in performance is worth the difference in cost

Was just curious if anyone uses the antenna outputs on the Venue for their TV tuner. I know these outputs are supposed to be "tuned" for the specific block (21-22 for me), but does it make that much difference for Modulus/Canatrans reception. Will it affect my wireless mic reception? Don't want to try it out and then mess up something inside the Venue. Thanks in advance, Robert

I've been thinking of a portable 2 track recorder for some time now and the PMD620 seems to be calling out to me. The things I am attracted to are: The price - Much cheaper than a SD 702T or 744T. At the moment, none of the jobs I am working on require me to have a recorder with a timecode option. In fact, none of the shows I work on use double system at all. The only reason I would ever record double system is if I were going to the camera wireless, and even then it would be for my own benefit and confidence. Even still, I am "tethered" on most gigs. Anyone have thoughts on how to best secure SMA antennas? Twice, I have had an SMA slightly loose, and it made for drop outs on Transmission. Luckily, it has been caught early(the second time), and it's double system, but it could happen at the wrong time(ie. no double system) and I'm screwed. I've been wrapping tape around them, but it looks ugly and and there needs to be a better way. I understand why the small footprint is nice for some manufacturers, but I need a locking antenna, before I'm doomed. A rubber washer or something? Peace!

Does anyone have a hot COS-11 when used with the um200 TX. I have previously had mine wired where I had to run them at 10 'o'clock on the transmitter and I liked them that way. Does anyone know what the wiring config is to make them hotter. These are not red dot version mics. Rob

Ok, I encountered a strange situation with the pd-6 on set a while back. Its been nagging at me. If anyone knows what the real explanation for this phenomena is, let me know. Was working as a utility a little bit ago, and on my boss's cart, he was running a pd-6 on the 12v pin of a powermax rigged with a 33ah battery, a dv824 with a juicer, and a lectro venue rack. When we switched to bias-T power for amplified antennae, the draw became a bit much, and we noticed the battery consumption was sucking. We stuck to ac power as much as possible that day. I've got a PSC powermax, and I heard that my PD6 likes 14 volts, not 12. So I heard you can change the hot pins in order to output different voltages like 14 or 16 or 18. Anyone know the deal on this? Thanks! Dan Izen

During a discussion with a local computer repair person, I was told that he was find it harder and harder to find IDE 2.5 hard drives. Looking online, I see what he means. So I find my over the shoulder rig growing, unfortunately. The jobs have been good, and I still don't have a "real" ENG rig with wireless hops and such, but I find I might want to have some powering options for my 302/744T combo. I do not want to invest in an NP-1 system. There's a PSC mixer that claims it takes an NP-1 or 10xAA batteries. Does something exist where I can load 8 or 10 rechargeable AA batteries into a sled with 1 or 2 4-pin Hirose pigtails for power? A hollow NP-1 which takes AA's and a NP-1 cap with Hirose? Robert

So, was thinking about buying a Denecke as a master clock.. Then I realized that I had a (what used to be) pretty expensive and reliable master clock attached to the bottom of my HHB portadat. So here's the question: Does anyone know how to remove the TC module from an HHB portadat, and wire it so that it can operate as a standalone master clock (with maybe a dc input from some batteries)? A

I'm looking into buying the Zaxcom camera radio link and have a question of anybody that already uses this kit. I already have Black Box timecode tx/rx so can receive timecode from camera. Also the IFB100 is another box to put on the camera and its not that small. Also if I'm recording backup audio onto the TRX900 I'm covered if it does go pear shaped. And anyway from what I read from users of this kit its pretty reliable on the RF front. I think I've already answered my own question!! So is it worth the extra $1500 to have the IFB100 for camera return confidence monitor? Thanks Dave

On a project I have coming up I plan on feeding a reference audio mix to camera via comtek 216. 1/8 to xlr. (transmitter is 216 w/ Lectro Dip pole and remote audio mod) Because the comtek receiver traditionally uses the headphone cable as the antenna are there any guidelines I should follow in making this cable to get "decent" reception distance? Length? Type of cable? etc? I use a Mogami mini quad mic cable a lot when I make cables, but im guessing this might not be ideal? Thanks guys -Chris

I have sent a couple emails to Cooper with no responses, so I am asking here, since a lot of you have this mixer or similar. I am about to get a great deal on a Cooper 106+1, and am interested in expanding it. I can add an Aux module, or an additional channel to the current chassis. Is it possible to have a 106+1 expanded(chassis expansion, of course) to a 108+1, and add an Aux module? And does anyone know what that might cost? I understand that the best place to get that info is with Cooper, but I am not getting any call backs. So hopefully someone here has tried this or did this with theirs. Thanks Mike

Hello boarders, I've run into a wacky problem with my FR-2 timecode out. It's only the timecode out. I've got it set for 30 ND fps and this is what is being recorded onto the sound file, but the timecode out is outputting 29.97. This has been confirmed with a lab (they were able to tell what the slate was jammed at) as well as when I try andn jam my PD6 to the FR-2. Anyone else have this problem? Totally sucks because now I can't use that deck for film job backup! Thanks, Dan Izen
