Hi, Just wondering if anyone has had experience with the Pilot signal going away on a Lectro 200 series body pack? Is there a cause, or better yet, solution to this without sending it in for repair? I got it to work with the Bypass mode, but that's not as stable. Thanks, Tom

I am getting RF from the usual suspects, and far to often I keep asking people who has the Blackberry. Can you get an RF mod for the CMC5? or do I need to upgrade to the CMC6? Thanks

Ive got two films coming up that are both gonna require in car miking with the windows down while driving. I had planned on using my Schoeps CMC641 with Cut and GVC along with lavs, but after reading about different setups there are a number of people that seem to like the Schoeps BLM 03 on the headliner. Can I get some opinions/thoughts on the two options? Is the BLM noticeably better then a 641/cut/gvc sound wise or is it just easier to mount?

Hey all, I was just browsing on the B&H site and found that they are running their two for one deal on the Porta-brace Vault cases again (you buy one, get the next size down for free). If you're not familiar, the Vault series is their Pelican-like cases. (And, I have no relationship with either B&H or Porta-brace, as a matter of fact, for the most part I hate ordering from B&H...Trew, Coffey, etc. - want to match the deal?) Phil

Sorry if this is a dumb question, Im still new to the industry... Looking for a way of transferring TC from camera (Digibeta or similar) to recording device (SD744T or DA-88) wirelessly. Not sure if I am able to do this via normal radio kits or not? Cheers, Jason

Does anyone have any working experience with this product that they would care to share? Looks very flexible, but a bit on the bulky side. http://www.higheroctave.tv/

Hey folks, Seeing as I am going to be in San Francisco on a shoot for around 4 months, I thought it might be a good idea to find out if there are any local sales/hire joints for location audio, just in case any of my gear decides to act up. I did a quick google but didn't find anything The last time I was in SF I bought from LSC, but if there is more urgency, it would be nice if there was something a little closer. Cheers, Jason

This topic was just posted over on RAMPS, and it's something I've been thinking about for a while. When shooting HD and in a studio environment, it's somewhat regular practice to use a delay unit for IFB to director/script and the village. My set up is more a rough and tumble location show, that just happens to shoot with F900's. Last year we went through 18 camera bodies (that I know of) over an 8 month period. We brake 'em, they send out a new one. Crazy... Back on subject. There is a slight delay to our monitors at video village due to the down-converters. Our video village has at least 2 monitors going, sometimes 3, with different down-converters on each mon…

I just picked up the R-09 as non-TC backup when using RF links. What sample rate/frequency should I run the recorder at? Obviously, the highest quality would be best, but I would like to to find some middle ground so that I am not filling up 4-6 Gb of SD cards everyday. Does the quality affect the ability to sync it to video in post? And, has anyone tried the SDHC 4 GB cards with it yet? -Jason

Hello, I just wrapped a show for sony, and I had a question with regard to the propper procedure for TC distribution. The requested setup: Jam a master Denecke sb2a from the Deva (free run) connect the Master sb2a to a passive distribution box (mult) send TC back to the deva (cont jam all) send TC to backup recorder (744T) jam the slate from the distro. jam consecutive sb2a's from the distro, attach them to cameras and send TC to an audio channel. As far as I understand it (please correct me if Im wrong here) so long as I use the same sb2a (master) to jam the slate and any other sb2a's I should be fine, right. What exactly does te distro achieve?? …

Im doing an interview on Tuesday with a particularly high profile Hollywood A-Lister, who values his personal space, and likes a no-fuss scenario. My thoughts were to grab one of the cameraman's lightstands and use my boom mate, and just hang my 416 over the top. The interview will be static so it seems ideal. I am having thoughts of using a LDC cardiod mic instead of my 416, to counter any excess reverberant sound picked up from the accentuated rear lobes on the hypercardioid. Has anyone out there done this before? Should I just stick with the 416? Cheers, Jason

Hi all, I'm currently using a combination of a Rycote Softie (which is fine for indoors and outdoors when there is a low wind), and a Rycote Modular windshield (for when there is a high amount of wind outdoors). I've been doing a shoot based in San Francisco, and as you are all probably aware, it can get very windy there, especially where this particular shoot is located. The problem I'm having is that we are often moving rapidly from indoors to outdoors, and while the solution seems to be to keep the modular on at all times, I'm finding the weight of the modular, and it's bulky footprint to be an issue. What Im searching for is a solution that is the same footpr…

Hi, Just bought a Harley, and the noise of the bike isn't the major issue, it's the noise of the wind even at normal speeds. I used to wear a full-faced helmet years ago, so wasn't as much of an issue. I used regular ear plugs today, which was great, but I want something a little more secure and reusable. Any suggestions? I know the union sponsors ear molds once in a while, but I want to be able to hear somewhat too for safety. Thanks, Robert Sharman

The transport and heads on my DA88 have become unreliable--intermittent. The electronics and etc are all fine--1 owner, not used on location much etc. It doesn't make economic sense for me to pay what Tascam or etc wants to service a 16 bit machine, and the shipping for the thing would be expensive (having it packed, it's heavy etc). So it sits--in the way. So what should I do? Take it to the dump and pay the toxic waste fee as though it was a computer? Leave it out on the curb? No school etc wants to mess with a non-functioning machine... Philip Perkins

I'm wondering if a Lectro UH-195 plug on xmtr would work with a UCR211 rcvr if the frequencies match? Thanks, Tom

Hey All, On a job recently where I was using my sanken CUB-01, I decided to try using the little adhesive circles that come with the mic. Nothing would stick on this particular waxy surface, but the Nitto stuff held amazingly well! It also came right off without marring or leaving residue. I am wondering if anyone knows how to order more of this wonder-tape? I found the Nitto website, but they only seem to offer the no. 500 adhesive in rolls. It's just very convenient having it perfectly cut for the CUB-01. Thanks! Alex Altman Nashville, TN

Hey all, Am building a new kit, based around an Alphamix, 2 x UCR411/UM400 and am looking at options for sound bags. I currently use a Wendt X5 in a portabrace sleeve, with the RM Deluxe multi wireless pouch, but am not satisfied with it as I am limited as to the amount of weight I can carry in the front pouch. I've looked at the PEGZ1 online, but my local distributor doesnt carry these in stock. I also came across the Kata Sundo bags, but again my local distributor only stocks portabrace. Does anyone have any experience with these bags they can share? I will be needing space to expand, add a couple more Lectro's at some point, and should also have a 744T. Any…

I have had a glitch on my PD-4 in the past month. It's the first time it has done anything weird in the five years I've owned it, and with the fixability of these units slowly decaying, I'm wondering if there is a cause, or solution anyone is privy to? The problem is that I hit record, and nothing happens. This is after i've been rolling, and have powered down with the tape in. The solution has been to eject the tape, and put it back in, and everything works fine. The main annoyance with this is that I lose the A-Time count and PNO resets. My main concern is that there's an issue with the transport, and that's potentially a limited availability fix. Is this truly an ea…

I was visiting PSC the other day, and talked to their engineer about plugging a small inverter into the Power Station. He says as long as it doesn't draw more than the maximum amperage of the Power Station, then it should be fine. I want to power my laptop, HD, and Fireface 800 with the Power Station/inverter rig. Anyone have any experience with this? A pure sine wave 400w inverter ought to do the trick. It will be the only thing plugged into the Power Station. Everything else on my cart runs 12v on PSC Cart Power and 33aH Pelican battery. Thanks, Robert Sharman

Hello Everyone, Long time lurker, first time poster. Great forum! I am in the market to upgrade my Oktava MK012 to a Schoeps CMC641/MK41. I also have a SD442. My question is do I need to purchase the additional cut-1 filter for the Schoeps, or is the low cut filter on the SD442 good enough? Any other benefits? Most of my work consists of the boom on a c-stand, and it goes without saying; the poll doesn't move. Thanks, Steve Harnell 32thirteen.com
