After months of inactivity, today I powered up my Venue 2 only to get a blue screen. The unit actually works(I found two of my transmitters were still tuned to their frequencies). I imagine this can't be good but I wasn't sure if there was a solution(do a reset, etc) . Any advice? Thanks, George

Hello all, Since I upgraded the firmware of my MCR54 to the latest v2.4 the auto setting of the 4 receivers allocated frequencies after a scan is very often wrong. Whether I am doing it from the MCR54 directly or from the SL2 menu it does allocate automatically frequencies that are too far from each other and exceed the 32Mhz limitation bandwidth, causing the rx led to blink red, forcing me to change the problematic ones manually. I did not have this issue before that firmware since it always choose the best frequencies within the 32Mhz bandwidth. I do not find a way to force it to choose correctly... Am I missing something?

Hi all! Happy 2023! I am curious if anyone has any experience using the Lectrosonics DSR4 and how it compares to SRC / 411 performance or Wisycom MCR54 performance? I have been wanting to pickup some Wisy's for the range and BT functions, but would be curious to hear thoughts here first!

Does something as an attenuator for lav mics exist. I was trying the rode wireless go II and used the internal mics. Audio is totally clipped - even in the internal recording - although the attenuator was activated. (I think its only 3db). Now I tried to connect an external mic, but it still clips very soon. Is there a way to connect an attenuator to the lav mic so the input signal doesnt clip in the wireless go ii? I know its not an ideal solution..

Who wouldn't want their boom to be even lighter? The new Deity S Mic3 and S Mic3S are out. All the goodness of the S Mic 2 but now even lighter. (by a lot! The S Mic3 is less than half the weight of a NTG3 or 416, the S Mic 3S is nearly half the weight of the S Mic3) I like also that you can buy the Deity Windshields separately as well (there are two versions: W01 & W02, shorter & longer), and only $25 each. Should also be compatible with a lot of non-Deity mics as well. https://www.newsshooter.com/2024/05/31/deity-releases-the-new-updated-s-mic-3-and-s-mic-3s/

I was in the middle of a 7-input music recording yesterday and I looked at my, what? 16-year old, 788T and wondered to myself. How did a fledgling company like Sound Devices manage to put into production such an unbelievable piece of kit? SMH. Goes in the Hall of Fame along with my 1989 Volvo 245 wagon; 485,000 miles on the clock. Wow! D.

I've seen this happen to a number of Petrol brand products over the years. This is probably the worst case that I have yet to see. I went to grab this XL audio bag cover for a challenging outdoor week long gig, where I knew we'd be dealing with some rainy production days. I pulled the Petrol cover out of the canvas storage bag (which by the way was in excellent condition) to reveal this sticky, yellow mess with half a dozen holes. Needless to say, I went with clear garbage bags instead. All my equipment is stored in a climate controlled studio, while not in use. Gear is always disassembled and dried, after challenging production days. Granted, this cover is ar…

I'm working on a reality show and am using MTP61 and Tentacle Sync. I can't find a way to do the jam through the Wisycom BT app? Is this even possible? The contestants wake up with the devices and I have instructed them to turn it on themselves because we have two smaller teams working when I'm not. Currently the solution is I come with my mixer and Tentacle close, and push Jam manually (physically) on each transmitter in the morning. I would like to do this through Bluetooth on the app. I can toggle Rec through it, but still have to jam physically. Is there a solution?

Hey Guys, I often use a pair of NT5's plugged into channels 1 and 2 of my 833 with balanced cables in XY for recording ambiance. I find that they quite often pick up interference from mobiles/radios with beep beep beep data noises. Has anyone else had this issue? Did you resolve it? Any recommended ambiance mics that don't do this? Thanks

Will this change how IATSE feature film and Episodics handle IFBs on the set? No. Indie films, documentaries, corporate & smaller productions? Yes. Just announced by Bluetooth spec group's multi-stream audio called Auracast™ broadcast audio enables an audio transmitter, such as a smartphone, laptop, television, or public address system to broadcast audio to an unlimited number of nearby Bluetooth audio receivers, including speakers, earbuds, or hearing devices/next-generation assistive listening system (ALS) technology. Auracast will allow a single audio transmitting device to broadcast to an unlimited number of nearby receiving devices. share …

Decided it’s time to invest in my first wireless system. First I was looking at the Audio Ltd A10 system but with the introduction of the A20 and dropping of the Audio Ltd branding and then the recent company buy out I’d pretty much decided on a Lectrosonics DCR822/DBSMD combo. Then, by complete accident I stumbled on a Sound Devices YouTube video about the Shure ADX5D and with some quick searching it looks an amazing system but there is virtually no info/reviews on the web and more puzzlingly no mention of it on here. Anyone seen, used, own or can share any experiences compared to the usual suspects and reasons not to look further? …

Hi All, I (like many other sound mixers have experienced I'm sure) am currently debating whether to upgrade to a Nova or 833 + SL2 and have a couple of queries about powering an 833. According the the manual, the 833 draws power from the available sources in this order: Batt1 >>> Batt2>>>> DC>>>> TC Batt. If all power is lost, can the TC battery power both the unit and SL-2 for a few minutes in order to hot swap batteries. If so, approximately how long does it last in your experience? Personally I would much prefer if the 833 prioritised the DC input over the L batteries (only when using …

Hi, I'm on a big box store commercial that has no dialogue (assuming voice over) and only needs me to boom "nat sound" for all the action happening on camera. The smallest rig I can think of with timecode, headphones, and a mic preamp is a Mix Pre 3 ii in the stingray belt rig. Ideally the boom operator could look down and see his meters and flashing recording lights. The zoom products seem to have a screen on the side. Maybe I could rig a metal frame on a 90 degree plate that would slip onto a utility belt.... Any suggestions on the tiniest mono recorder with phantom power, timecode, and a headphone output?

Inviting anyone who has shoot experience with the new A20 Nexus system to share their thoughts here. I’ve read the material, watched the videos but I know I have questions that only time can tell things like… - Stability… does it ever crash? - Bugs? - A20 battery life? Is it practical to get 5-6hrs from these if you’re actively managing them? - Nexlink Interference to other film gear? - Transmitter durability -Range! Sound mixers only please! Thanks!

It has alway been recommended that your better off buying older used analog i.e. Lectrosonics instead of new prosumer analog but now that prosumer has gone digital and other features like wide band, BT and low cost is that still the case?

Hi, finally upgrading from WS4 for my 2x KMR 81i's Should I be pitching my dealer about Piano instead who seems to be trying to avoid discussing it 🤷♀️ e.g. should I be worrying this "lessened" gap between the boundary and the head of my KMR 81i ? Pianissimo would be much more versatile for me than Piano that is granted that opens the path to 8000's and other "minis" (or "modern medium" size now!) outside. Cinela had a facebook post down from 2014 showing "it's possible" - I'm just wondering about the tradeoffs here. Maybe there are some other alternatives I've neglected to check out ?

For personal side projects I've had these puppies for three years and this is a follow-up to my in-depth tests I did when these first popped up. They still work OK for non-critical personal stuff and as usual with any piece of kit I tested them to death and provided RØDE feedback early on they actually changed a lot of things including providing batch export out form these mics that I lamented one had to export one at a time w/ RODE Central. I've had six or something units "crash mics" but none of them really died off humidity / other "natural" causes 😊 The test runs I did three years ago with a mate and I realised I never posted here -…

I'm wondering if anyone happen to have the program software for Phonak TX300V, since I would need to reset the channels of it. I actually downloaded one from duplex.com, but it requires password. Thank you so much!!

I used to have a brilliant Petrol harness. It is gone, and in its place is my old Versaflex harness. Today my shoulders just about died. I miss my petrol harness. So of course they don't make it anymore. I see some nice looking ones from Orca and Portabrace and Versaflex. I have a heavy bag that I almost never wore because it had been years since I worked an actual run and gun gig. I took out some rx and made the bag as light as possible, but it's still a beast. My back and feet are fine, it's just the harness digs into my shoulders. I'm quite intrigued by the short bag version from Versaflex. I like wearing the bag tight and high up so the bottom i…

Hi all, I need to use my beautiful Nagra III with condenser microphones and I am looking for a way to add phantom power. I bought a Neumann BS945 phantom power supply. Instead of plugging it into my Nagra I measured to see if any of the phantom power made it to the output socket. To my surprise pins 2 & 3 of the output socket both have 50 volts on them. Would I destroy the preamp of the Nagra by plugging this in? Thanks! Matthew

Hello people, A while back I posted about the hardwired CL-Wifi that I made that works much better than the wireless one, and people seemed to like the idea but it was pretty hacky. In setting up an ethernet network on my cart, I realized that the IP address of the CL-Wifi is hardcoded into the app, so I couldn't get it to reliably be a part of my cart's network. I wanted to see if I could write a Windows Forms app that controlled the 788T via the C. Link port, and in the process discovered that all of this can be done over a hardline on the 788's usb port. I've been able to successfully send commands to it and get responses from it using nothi…

Hey all, Currently searching for a Sennheiser IFB Receiver that would be compatible with my EW DP Wireless Transmitter — which is currently being used as a camera hop. The plan would be to send the same signal to the EW DP Rx and a compatible Sennheiser IFB, simultaneously. IFB would be used so that the director can monitor the audio feed on set. The Sennheiser EW DP Camera Hop operates in 470-526 mHz range. looking to keep price below $500 — don’t mind buying used. any suggestions? thanks!
