My last 16 mm film client has evolved to a Sony F3 camera, a set of Cooke S4 Panchros and a Ki Pro Mini He plans to using the F3 as an imaging device and record directly to the KiPro Mini. My plan is to use 788T to jam a Denecke SB-T to drive the TC in of the Sony F3 @ 23.976, no genlock I would wire audio into the KiPro Mini and those files would be what he would edit from We would also shoot a slate to see what kind of offset we might have any opinions about this workflow ? any opinions on the KiPro mini ? thanks in advance al

here is a clip of a show i just finished swinging on. hopefully its viewable outside the UK. the first part with the 'ladies' coming down the stairs was on radio mics (trx900 with cos11's) the rest of the scene was using a super CMIT. knowing the production schedule etc, i dont think much has been done to the sound beyond ensuring even levels between cuts. ive only listened on my laptop but it there is a difference in the ambience between the radios at the top and the rest of the scene.

Thinking through the in's and out's of using the IFB100 in a car rig situation when I'm in the cab, and wonder whether folks think that the unit would transmit reliably to an ERX unit with the DIT on the deck of the camera car and to the TRX's on the talent in the picture car when using only the duckie antenna. The other option is to place the IFB100 at the back of the camera car and run TC/audio to it. Suppose one could get away with not running TC to it, once jammed. Don't worry too much about the TRX units' TC reception since they will have jammed to the IFB100 at startup, and re-jam when talent emerges from the car, but I think I definitely gotta include the IF…

Hey guys first time caller long time listener.... Any way I was wondering if anyone was having issues with Wave Agent 1.15 with a MacbookPro loaded with 10.6.4. It keeps on crashing on me. I've already contacted SD and figured I'd give it a shot here too. Thanks ahead of time for any insight.

I'm new to Lectro stuff but after hearing lots of good things aout it here I've decided to invest in 2 used Lectro systems. I've just bought a UCR401/LM400 set in block 27 and lookin to pair it wth either same system in block 26 or UCR211/UM200C in block 29. they are both same age and similar condition. the 400 is $200 more expensive. I should probably go for 400 since it's newer technology and same system s as I already got but: - the 200C tx is 100mW while LM is 50. -Also, since two 400 sys are in neighbourhood blocks (26&27), will I run into nterference problems when one sys. is used for the talent and the other as a camera hop (in the bag set-up)? -how …

Hi Finally today my remote audio miracle whip MW216 antenna has arrived. With the hope of helping boosting my M216 transmitter to get some decent interference free signal for the range of 10-20 meter. but nothing changed at all. here it's my big issue with my M216 transmitter : when i connect the Tx into my laptop , or i phone or whatever with Headphone out .. it just work great as advertised and as all of you guys have been talked about this product. but when i connect it to any output from my SD442 , or 744T , or even Lectro 411a mic out im getting very strong interference even or the range of 2-3 meters ,with or without Whip antenna or MW216 remote audio.…

Obviously I'd call Zaxcom first but it's the weekend and they're not open? This is a brand new unit and I just successfully used it on Thursday. Just now, I tried numerous times to turn it on. It does not go through the boot up sequence blue page.....just go to a blank lit white page. I tried it both with NP-1 power and external DC power, same result. Anyone seen this before? Is there some sort of hard reset I can try? Thanks

on cam to start-stop recording and monitor audio: cam? AND: what power level do ? 5 ? 6 ? In the bagduring some tests on a Sony 900, I boosted it all the way up and I didn't get that ''weeeeeee'' typical sound... (?!) Another question: I plugged the Rx on the cam, Line level and compared to Pana 900 or other dinky cams, it seems I have to push the levels on the cam further than usual to get to -20 dBs Normal? Thanks...!

Hey there guys, I am a second year uni student and i want to specialize in sound recording. I will slowly be buying all my own equipment and was wondering if anyone could give me advice. I will be recording sound on features, shorts and ENG recordings so i want gear that give good quality audio recording in all three situations. I was thinking a Fostex FM-3 portable field mixer. Mic : Rode NTG3 & Rode NT5 and a Edirol/ Roland R -44 Solid State Four Channel Recorder. Would these suit all my purposes ?? I am a novice at best with sound recording so any help with buying equipment would be much appreciated. Although for mics i will be sti…

So I am getting a really annoying buzzing over the Comteks with this setup, and am not sure where to start with fixing it. I tried it with 2 different channel M72 transmitters and I am getting the same issue. The day before I was using a SQN mixer, and had no problems (same Comtek + Zax hardware, but the Comtek did have a different cable feeding it... with no RF filter). Every so often it goes away, and I can't isolate what makes that happen. The Comtek is being fed with the tape out/mix out output. I made a TA3 -> Comtek cable (there is no RF trap in it). The Zaxcom TRX900/STA100 is being fed from the main outputs. The noise is almost completely gone…

Hi! Does anyone have any experience in recording with wireless systems in Thailand? My main concern is what frequencies they use there? I have a set of four Micron Explorer series transmitters and receivers, that is tuned from 800 to 813 MHz. Thanks! -Tobias

I purchased a Schoeps CMC641 a bit ago and now intend to build a midside setup, but am not sure whether to do the CCM8 or the CMC68. I realize that a big plus of the CMC6 is the modularity in case I want to buy more caps and do A/B, but I can't say that I foresee that in the near future. I found a pretty good price on a CCM8 to make the prices comparable to the CMC68... so would there be a good reason not to buy the CCM8 as far a real world use goes, or even a major reason that should compel one towards the smaller form factor... Thanks again!

... the recommandation is having at least one block difference between the cam hop Tx and the Rxs in the bag. Using all Zaxcom gear along with a filter antenna for the Tx, is it running into trouble having both on the same block ? Inversely, in real life situation, has one block difference been rock solid for you so far ?

I have an internally cabled PSC Elite pole, which has been terrific. Lately though, the internal cable has been making a terrible racket, even when gently handled. The noise started when we were working in very cold weather, and I thought it would get better when we moved into warmer conditions. It hasn't. The pole's three years old now. Maybe the plastic coating on the cable has gotten brittle and it's time for a new (softer) coily cable. Suggestions? Chris Newton

Hello, I have some RF problems when I use my KM 150/120 M/S couple with the zaxcom QRX 100/TRX 900 for caméra hop. The TRX 900 is emitting some noise in the cable of the neumann. I first though it was due to the active cable (LC3) between the capsule and the preamp but I have the same problem with the capsule+preamp and a normal XLR. The zaxcom is on the block 21. Do you have any experiences with this set up???

I recently purchased 2 OST-802 lav mics with with 3.5mm plugs for my Zoom H1 recorders. I subjectively compared the OST lav's to the $25 Gaint Squid lavs I had and didn't really notice much of a difference. I'm guessing my findings are more a commentary on the recorder (or my inability to evaluate) than they are on the microphones. The recorder I've been looking at, because of reportedly better pre-amps and noise levels, is the Sony PCM-M10. However, I don't want to spend a few hundreds just on an experiment (i.e., will the Sony recordings be that much better than the H1's?). Has anyone ever compared the mic in on H1 or H2 of H4N or whatever to the mic in on the …

Hi: So Rycote makes the baby ball gag in 20 and 22mm versions. My Schoeps is 21mm - of course. I have purchased both sizes and neither seems to be a good fit. The 22 is too loose and the 20 is very tight. So tight that it takes a long time to remove the Schoeps and, there is a fear that that much force will eventually break something. Apart from trying Astroglide, what works for you? Or will the 20mm eventually loosen up as it gets worked. Thanks

Zaxcom filter antennas: there's a little box with a extension wire but is the box the same for all freq blocks and you just change the antennas accordingly to blocks or it's the whole thing that needs to fit the block I need ?

does such a thing exist..? Interested to know what dual Lectro / Zax wireless users are doing in regard to Tx input connection compatibility..? Is it just a case of buying more lavs and have them wired for each Tx? Thanks, Chris.

Hello, I just bought a Block 25 Lectro 411 wireless mic set. But, before I start using it, I'm curious if anyone else is happily using Block 25! I have 21s, crowded 22s, crowded 26s, good 20s, good 19s. I hear there's a problem with 19s (something about a frequency starting up and knocking you off???) But 25? No idea. Thanks for your input!

Hi Folks, Total nOOb here. I am a Pro Tools guy (been doing post work for more than a decade) with increasing interest in production sound (please no hate mail for stepping out of the closet). I have the opportunity to go out on a shoot with a camera guy friend. Pretty simple set up: Two G3 wireless and a boom (MKH 416T or ME66) going to a SD 302 and straight to camera. Rumors has it that the 302 won't power the mics very well. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!
