what do you use for screaming talents when you still need lavs? I find that with my TRX900 and DPA4063 I smtimes run into the situation where I need to bring down the gain to "0dB" and still get to high levels. Is there any inline attentuation available? The other thing is that although the DPA4063 can handle SPL up to 138dB before clipping (specs) I often have the feeling that it might not be the mic input of the TRX but rather the lav itself that is distorted. With a B6 - do you use the red (-10) version for screaming or even the blue (-20) one? Matthias

The other day I had a problem with stray RF from a video transmitter getting into my boom. Here is the situation I was on a shoot and the camera had a video transmitter mounted on it feeding video only – I’m not quite sure what frequency it was operating on because the label was missing but the camera operator told me it is in the UHF band. Anyway I was using my 416 on a pole, with an internal coiled cable, and a short coiled cable from the bottom of the pole into my mixer, and everything was fine. The issue I had was at one point I switched to Schoeps on the same pole and I started picking up occasional stray RF (a fairly loud hiss and a low level high pitch whine c…

Glenn, or anyone else who has researched the products / have first hand experience, I may be in the market for a 900LT, but was wondering, other than the cost, is there any disadvantage to using the 900LTS for applications that mostly require mono mic'ing, but would be occasionally useful to have double "stere" mics, such as for backup, or different mic positions? In other words, can the 900LTS for all intents and purposes work exactly like a 900LT when you need it to? Is on board recording compromised a bit, because the audio has to be compressed more, less battery power, compromised performance due to bias voltage supply, etc?

I would like to use my lemo to xlr 744 TC in and out cables when working with the RED. Although I thought I read somewhere that the Lemo TC wiring on the RED is different than the Lemo wiring for the SD 744. But when I look at the proper Lemo TC wiring for the 744t and compare that to the Lemo TC wiring in the RED manual it appears the same. The only difference is (I think) that you can wire the RED balanced or not balanced. Has anyone use their 744 wired TC cables with the RED successfully. Thanks, Andy

Thought I'd start a new thread so this didn't get lost in the previous AA battery thread. We tested some Nickel-Zinc batteries a while back (PowerGenix's Nickel Zinc AA Rechargeable Batteries) and they seemed very satisfactory. http://www.amazon.com/SUPERcharged-Nickel-Rechargeable-Batteries-Battery/dp/B003DKS8PS Their discharge voltage is 1.6 Volts so they won't trip the Lectro battery warning like the NiMh's at 1.2 Volts do. The power density is about the same as common good low self discharge NiMh, with 1600 Ma and 1.6 Volts. Note they quote them at 2500 mWhr which can easily be misread as 2500 mAhr. They claim low self discharge. The Lectro transmitters consume…

Maybe somebody has a better solution, but this is where I am going.... I'm looking for something, approximately a Pelican 1500, that will open flat (as opposed to the lid being 90 degrees). My thinking is to make a portable charging station now that I am all rechargeable. Space-wise I think I could do it in a Pelican 1500, if I had the top and bottom. I can use something like the heavy duty velcro to mount everything. I might be able to dremel down parts of the hinge on a Pelican and make this work, or is there another solution? It's a mess to set up the chargers on the floor of my hotel room, then pack it up in the AM, then reset it at night. Right now I could be using…

Hey guys, I'm trying to get a Comtek 72 Timecode link working for a playback job. It seems every time the timecode signal stops (from the transmitter) IE... stop start, pause, etc... The Receiver turns off automatically. It also seems to turn off automatically if the volume is below 50%. Seems like perhaps its the same function that turns the unit off when you disconnect a pair of headphones. Has anybody else had this trouble when trying to setup a TC link? I'm feeding the transmitter from a 442, and PR72B receiver is feeding a Denecke TS3 with a simple unbalanced cable. Is the cable too long?

Hi Folks, Any idea who does service on these mixers these days in the US, I used Reg Webb in the past but I do not believe that he is in the service end of things anymore as he looks to have moved on to sound mixing. I have an 4S series II that I am looking to have a sticky meter replaced on before selling. Thanks in advance.

I've spoken with a salesperson for a major reseller and they told me that it's smaller than a Fusion 10 but layout is similar and will have "4,6, or 8 record tracks" (apparently user configurable). That's all they felt comfortable telling me - and I understand their position. I've also followed some of the posts on this site and it sounds like a few people have seen a prototype or heard details about the new model. What I would really like to know is: Does the new Fusion have more "hard controls" such as those found on a standalone mixer like the SD442? Does it have hard button PFL's? Does it have knob pans? How many hard faders? Have they d…

Hello group, I was thinking of trying out two shure MX202 goosnecked-mics for car-dialog.. To me this mic seems easy enough to mount/hide it under/over the visors and the flexible gooseneck makes it very easy to actually point the mic at the one who is speaking. I used to do the same with COS11's but have mixed results, I would like a tighter pickup-pattern so the Shure mics with a hyper-cardioid look like a good bet to me.. Anyone ever heard of this mics or used them?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone is using the Zax ZFR100 recorder as a backup in a wireless links setup. I fried my Sony PCMd50, and need a replacement, thought this could be a good upgrade, esp with timecode. While there are many differences between the units, one thing I noticed is there isn't a remote for the ZFR100, quite useful in the bag. all thoughts are welcome

Hey guys i was considering another way of getting more isolation for a host piece to camera at a very noisy location when a Sanken red-dot just is picking up too much ambience with the omni pickup. Has anyone used dynamic lavs like the shure 11 model?

I have a PSC RF multi 4x1 but don't really feel I need a powered amp. I have 5 Lectros I want to hook up with this to a Sharkfin. Any thoughts I won't have a long cable run but want the ability to run it out 25-30 feet if needed.

I've been searching for a service center for the Fostex FR-2 (not LE), to no avail... Anybody know of a service center that can handle repairs? It's a problem with the internal power supply (batteries overheating). John

Hi All, have a few questions for you. I have three Lectros, 2 UCR201 RX and 1 UCR211 they are powered by a Lithium NP-L7s thru a BDS ( Remote Audio). One of the 201s always shows a small amount of RF. No matter what open freq I scan to. I have tried different power cables from BDS to RX and removed every other piece of gear from the BDS. When I run the receiver from a internal 9 volt the RF shows nothing. Thanks for any input, I just would like to figure out why? Also.... I picked up a dual rack of Lectrosonics R-400 RM2. They come with a wall wart and the unit specifies 8-18 volts vdc 200ma max. My 201s say 10 -18 vdc, 0.100A. Is there any reason I could not power t…

Hey All, Just heading down To N.O and Texas to cover the oil spill. I will be taking Block 21, 25 and shhhhhh 29? Am I wrong to take the 29. Can anyone with reliable info tell me about the situation there with all the crews there. Taking Cantar and a backup 302 with Zax stereo hop with recording option. Thanks everyone. The info would be very valuable for a Canuk! B

Hi Folks, Bought a SRa5P and 2 x SMa's recently. Am just trying to configure as a camera link and wanted to double check gain settings on the SMa's. I usually use a couple 411/UM400's as camera links, and send tone from my mixer until both green LEDs on the Tx light up, then I back off a touch. Should I presume the same method is applied to the SMa's? I set it up and gain is at 16 on the SMa's using the same method as with the UM400's. All sounds (and looks) good when I plugged the SRa into a couple channels on the Mackie. Anyone else using the SRa/SMa's as links that can confirm I am on the right path? Cheers, Jase

Spent some time today looking for a Right Angle TA5F solution besides buying the Lectrosonics one (which isn't cheap) Does anyone have another source for this kind of connector? Thanks Nick

I had a 3.5mm to 5/6 Y cable made to feed two comtek m216 Tx. I am having a hard time getting a decent level to my Comtek tx. If I Feed the Comtek Tx -10 from outputs 1-4 via Ta3 to 3.5mm I get plenty of level and the Comtek Rx is set at 10 or 12 o clock but even at a output of 0 from outputs 5 or 6 I find I have to turn the comtek rx to 2 o clock to get a loud enough level. What level are most of you feeding your Comteks? Any other thoughts ?

I just got my Fusion and I hope I am doing something wrong here. Unfortunately, I have a colleague that has experienced the same problem with his Fusion. I've tried to align my Fusion to my Lectro receivers and to my suprise each input behaves in a different way. Pics attached. Lectro receivers set to 4dBu, all Fusion input trims set to 0 and each input read a different level. I used my Sound Devices 442 to double check and got the same unusual behavior, almost 10 dBs of difference from channel 4 to 5. Line up tones from all Lectros to my AD 147 read just fine, all trim pots in the same position give me the same level. I did not contact the manufacturer yet but I int…
