I am thinking of investing in some DPA 4063´s with the microdot connection. Yet I have heard that the adaptor DPA makes for Zaxcom (DAD3057) does not connect the shell to pin 1 like they are supposed to on Zaxcom transmitters. Is this true? or just a rumor? Any info will be appreciated.

Zaxcom uses Motorola BT100 batteries (Motorola PMNN4468 BT100) on some of their gear. I am looking to find alternative chargers to Motorola's "quirky" chargers. Does anybody make them? I know there are a few chargers from Sound Guys Solutions for other batteries but did not see any for BT100.

Lectrosonics SR/5P Receiver - A Second Look After The Updates Last week I received the updated SR/5P. The unit had two internal and one external hardware change and numerous updates to the operating system. Hardware Upgrades The first improvements were for two bugs. The first corrected the unit’s diversity and the second fixed the second channel’s battery display. One IMPORTANT note: Lectro tells me that because of the way the SR is designed, it is better to have the first channel be a LOWER frequency than the second channel for performance reasons. The obvious hardware upgrade is the 5P (external 5pin adapter) which allows the unit to work on camer…

Someone mentioned that he heard of a new box that is being released, and I've forgotten where he said he saw it. It sounds like a single channel recorder that you would plug the lav into, and then output the signal to the transmitter, so you would get a recording prior to the RF signal. Anybody know about this?

Hi folks, I'm new here. I found the site reading the "Nagra stories sound-men won't ever tell" thread and all of the wonderful information in that thread, so thought I would ask the experts about the Nagra ARES C-PP (the rack mount version of the C). I have an opportunity to acquire one fairly inexpensively (~$350USD) and could use a two-channel solid-state recorder for some of my transfer work. Please share your experiences with this piece of gear and your opinions regarding its value proposition at that price would be appreciated. -Steve

Would there be any issue with using a small microphone in a larger windshield. For example putting an MKH50 in a Rycote WS4 windshield which is designed for shotguns? Obviously the microphone will be further from the front of the windshield than the sides so would this have any negative effect from an acoustics point of view?

Apologies if this has been answered before, I couldn't find anything on it. What is the difference between tx battery meter modes LB and LBT on the Lectro SRC? The manual uses the exact same language for both but there's gotta be a difference, right? Using an SSM with LB-50 batts obviously. Thanks, Sam

Since I've bought my Fusion 12 two years ago, I've used it with the PortaBrace bag supplied by Zaxcom itself. Sincerely, I was not really happy with it and now (i will start a 3 weeks project shooted in one-man band-bag-mode) I'd like to buy a Petrol Bag with harness. I've read that the two candidate models would be the PS602 and PS603. Have you experienced with these bags and a Fusion and could share some feedback or advices? I'd like to know something more from real users. thanks, v.

Hey guys, I was talking to this production coordinator I'm doing 2nd unit with and he mentioned that the production wanted me to switch to zaxcom wireless. There reasoning is so they can run off and still have good tracks. I've used the whole zax system before (fusion, IFB, & wireless) and it worked for the most part. I wanted to know if I used my 744 instead of a zaxcom recorder would the zaxcom IFB still send the commands to record and stop recording to the zaxcom transceivers? Has anyone tried this? Keenan

Inovativ has introduced a new vertical cart. Might make a nice base for a sound cart. Looks to be somewhat modular and has the ability to add to. https://www.inovativ.com/shop/deploy/deploy-gen-iv-3/ One downside is the unloaded weight of 120lbs (55kg). Not a vendor, just an interested party.

Without having my hands on one, I am wondering how the M/S monitoring and recording functionality of Zaxcom recorders compares to Sound Devices recorders. I enjoy my 702t because I can easily record discrete mid and side signals while monitoring in stereo which is great for recording SFX. I can also record the decoded stereo tracks which can be useful if post prefers it that way (which is often the case in the lower budget projects I work on where the video editor may be functioning as a sound editor as well.) Anyway I digress.... Is it possible to monitor multiple mid/side configurations with the Zaxcom line of recorders? From the various manuals (and ye…

Hallo. My Splitmon 2 just started popping really loud when I switch from A to B (while listening to the return on my 633). Has anyone else had this problem? It shows up as clipping on my meters whenever I switch, but on playback (from 633), there is no pop..... One cam is set to line level (amira), and the other (F55) is set to mic level because the amira requires I pad my output at -10 (yeesh), though I can't see why this might cause this problem... Anyone know what might be causing this/have this problem? Thanks. John

Hey Sound Geeks, I'm unsure about the TRXLA2's power roll set up as I'm getting some readings on the screen that seem weird and aren't explained in the manual. I could do with some advise please. I thought the settings to use power roll from 25mw to 125mw should be: TX POWER set to 25MW and POWER ROLL set to record trigger. This would then boost the power to full from the dormant power setting (25mw) However, when power roll is set to on the TX POWER screen shows (50MW) underneath where the power setting shows 25MW. what does the power in brackets mean? Also, with the above settings, when i go into the power roll screen (which is set to record trigger) it momentari…
