So I ve been using, a Lectro MM400C Transmitter w/b6 mic and a 411 receiver. I am also working deep inside a prison walls so outside RF shouldn't really be the problem. Anyways we would be doing a sit down interview so I would be pretty close to the subject and everything would be working fine and all of a sudden I would see the RF bar on the 411 drop low and i would get a "hit" or a his on my wireless. And then all of a sudden everything would be back to normal working condition. Has anyone experienced anything like this before or might now the reason behind it? I should also mention I am going from my bag to the camera via zaxcom stereo. Thanks, Nejc P

Hi All, hope everyone is well. I'm looking for some input on a problem that has arisen and has me puzzled. On my cart i am using a Sound Devices 788t with CL-9 and a lectrosonics venue receiver. i use a lectrosonics uh400a on my mics. this setup has worked well for me but the other day a strange thing occurred and has continued occurring since then. While shooting outside in snowing conditions we started to get a nasty distorting sound when a hot signal or something loud was coming in from the uh400. Initially i thought it was water had gotten into the uh400 or that it might have been the mic but on further inspection everything sounded fine listening to the mic on th…

Hi everyone. I have a project( of course with a low budget) where i need to do some undercover unsupervised recording. I have found some very tiny flash recorders but none of them have connections for condenser lavaliers. The physical connection i can deal with. The issue is powering. The smaller recorders only have mic inputs- not even plug in power. I'd ultimately like to pair a B6 with a Olympus WS-311M Has anybody here had any success with trying to accomplish this task? thanks, john.

Theoretically it should work but I have never done it before. Has anyone sent time code from a camera (Panasonic HPX) through a Comtek to a 552? I was hoping someone here can verify that this setup works before I plan on trying it.

There are a few threads on here I've browsed on recording sound whilst at sea with surfers and the like - but I have much simpler requirements with a shoot in the SeaLion pen of a zoo. Talent and expert are not going in the water (intentionally anyway) but the presenter will wear a wetsuit for warmth and 'just in case'. I'll hopefully be slinging my 2020 TXs into a couple of Aquapacs. Never having wired a wetsuit I wondered what the problems are in terms of sound quality. Couple of guys I work with have said that they've always found it to be problematic and resorted to exterior placement to avoid a 'muffled' effect. What say you? I only have Sankens and Trams to pl…

Recently I was working on a job were I mixed and boomed sometimes working very close to the camera . During quiet passages I noticed a very low level ticking sound which I assumed may have been coming from the Preston remote follow focus in use. Is this something other people have experienced before. Will using higher quality receivers help to eliminate the noise or is it all problem with all systems?

I was looking for that info, but Sennheiser G2 manual doesn't have it, is there any advantage to make a camera link with G2 using line in over mic in? Thanks in advance! Erick del Valle Santiago de Chile

Had a lot of fun shooting this series of TVCs. The loudest human voice I've had to record - thank God for MKH 50 & 60 pads, my highest praise to the Fusion input limiters and my Boom Op for listening when told to back off! The actor kept his performance at this level for five days straight without fault.

is it just me or is this new power star mini a straight copy of the BDS v3. Even the housing is the same. http://www.professionalsound.com/specs/pwr_star_mini.html

Hi sound people, I am thinking of buying a DPA 4071 lav mic. I already have the MKH 8050 which I use on a boompole and I would be using the 4071 under costume for drama. I would appreciate any comments regarding how these mics sound when mixed together if anyone here has used this setup. Many Thanks, Neil

I just got my first B6 and first day out threw the popscreen cap on. I haven't been able to remove it since, and of course, ripped the foam off. I feel like there has to be a trick I'm missing here.

Hello, We've all discussed recording in cars a lot, but I couldn't find a specific discussion about the "ticking" from a car's electrical system that can sometimes get into the recording. It's similar to the Lectro "phase switch ticking" that has been discussed endlessly. I had this experience the other day. Strong signal from the radios mics in the car parked on the trailer. Movie lights on, generator running, rehearsals perfect. Everything was fine until the camera car fired up and started driving, then the "ticking" began. I have had this happen before when doing car-to-car work, and just figured it was getting into the mics directly from the picture car i…

A question for those who have used a Filmtools Cart ( http://www.filmtools.com/fivejusoandv.html ) with a rack case mounted on it: How is the balance on it when it is tilted back on the rear wheels? Can it be rolled around easily or does it work out better to keep all four wheels on the ground? How stable is it in this configuration? -

After the purchase of a bunch of gear recently, I'm thinking about how I want to approach acquiring a cart. My situation has a few parameters that need to be considered: · I live in NY and have no car. Most jobs I do will pay for cabs, but don't have extra vehicles to pick up my gear. Portability is extremely important, and if it is at all possible to get it broken down into a Taxi, that would be ideal. · I live in a 600 Sq. Ft. Manhattan apartment with my Girlfriend and 2 Chihuahuas that hate my equipment. Small Footprint is essential, as it will be living in the front hall closet, so a Vertical Cart seems to be the only option. · At the present I do mostly ba…

Hey guys. been busy working and I finally got a nice sound kit. I have the Sound Devices 788T now and I can't quiet figure out how to fix this problem I'm having. I am trying to label the track names and for some reason Channel 3 and Channel 4 become the same name. It will not allow me to individually label those files. Can someone help me out. Could not figure it out. Example: I type Collector 1 for Track 3 and it makes Track 4 say Collector 1 as well. In the routing screen I don't have those tracks grouped. Thanks Nicole

Hello. Just having some issues when transferring files to my computer. Specs first: Macbook 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM OSX 10.5.8 Transcend 16 GB SDHC card Digital Concepts 16 in 1 card reader I get an error message that says: "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "10Y11M10-***.WAV" could not be read or written. (Error code - 36) Needless to say this is worrying. I am only using the 552 internal recorder as a backup at the moment (primary to camera), but I would like to be able to count on the 552 internal recorder as my primary in certain situations, and at this stage I am less than confident about using…

I started an earlier thread regarding the Mac Mini & a MOTU Traveler (http://jwsound.net/SMF/index.php?topic=7350.0) which transmogrified into Mac Mini battery powering suggestions, so I thought I'd start a fresh topic here. To recap: I would like to power the Mac Mini (2009 Intel MM) on my cart using the PSC Powermax 18v output. I did find a couple of pages showing how to configure the wiring for the Carnetix input (below) and figure I will start there. Wiring P1900 Power Connection (how to wire the power brick cable): http://www.carnetix.com/p1900/P1900PowerConectionforMacmini/index.html In conjuction with the Intel MM Cable Modification (adds a resis…

Has anyone had any experience with the new Cinela Minix suspensions for CCM's? I'm using it with a B5D and am hearing quite a lot of wind noise even with moderate boom moves. http://www.cinela.fr/catalog.php?pid=63 I hired one of the original wire OSIX CCM mounts and was very pleased with the results, but when I went to purchase one, the dealer said that the new Minix version was the one to go for. They look more like the Rycote Lyre style. Apparently the wire versions have been breaking, which is why Cinela developed this plastic model, but I'm not sure if the B5D can fit properly on it though. It looks like it should be OK,the plastic rim of the B5D is pressed fi…

Hello, I just did a infodrama gig today with a Panasonic HVX-202 Camcorder. I notice that the return levels to my 442 was low (-4 on scale) when I set the recording level on the Camcorder to the first line (which should be -20) and crank up the little knob on the side of the mixer. I had to set the Camcorder levels to the second line in order to get the return levels on the 442 to 0 on scale. My return feed was from the RCA output of the camcorder. Just like to find out whether the first line on the camcorder is it -20? or does my 442 needs a visit to the doctor?

Just made this discovery the other day when the talent asked "Don't you have one of those things that clips to my belt". Take one Audio 2040 and a Lectrosonics IFB holder and, well, the pictures explain.
