Back in the day, when a director wanted an extra IFB earpiece I had an old Icom scanner than was able to receive on the same frequencies as my radios (Audio Limited) Now I've been offered a cheap scanner and wonder if I can use it to do the same job on my Lectro UM400s. (it does cover the right frequencies.........) Maybe a stupid question, may not be! Will it work, if not, why? Thanks in advance............

Hi Guys. Happy Monday to all. I am a little in the dark about the remote antenna used for "in the bag" Zaxcom systems. How would this work? Would the purpose of it be to use it with the lectro/ zaxcom combo as I have heard that there are sometimes interference issues between the 2? Where would it go and does anyone have a picture of it in use. Regards Sebastian

Anybody having any issues Wave Agent 1.15 and snow leopard? I just updated to snow leopard and installed Wave Agent v 1.15 Program will not start. This program has been a rockstar for me over the years. I curious if i did something wrong- i already posted to the SD forum but curious if anybody here has had similar issues and could give me a quick fix. Overview: Macbook running snow leopard. No other peripherals connected- no other programs running. I made sure to throw away old versions and also to do a complete restart after installing new version of wave agent. I think i followed all the rules. Frustrating. I love wave agent and it is distressing no…

I just tested out a bunch of on-camera mics for DSLR video: http://www.sam-mallery.com/archives/566 I know this forum is a bit more "feature-mixer" oriented, but I figured some of you folks may find this interesting. Best, Sam

Hi all, Ive had this stereo link for about one day and am having trouble recording. Im using a Kensington 8gb card which can be formatted and can be used for updating software. After being formatted the unit records for about 15 seconds before flashing FULL and stopping. It sill indicates that there are 49 hours recording time left. The manual instructs SanDisk cards. Before i go buying new cards...does anyone know of any size limits? is 8 or 16 gb ok? Thanks for any help... Dave

Hello all you great sound mixers! Does anyone use any block 26 wirelesses in LA? I'm looking at buying one and wondering if I'll have enough open frequencies here to warrant the purchase. Thanks so much! Janet

Got in a car crash earler today. I was driving in a shopping plaza next to a major street. A guy was getting in to the plaza turning west towards low sunset. He sped up to avoid the coming traffic and did not even see me. Smashed in the passenger side. My petrol bag was in the rear behind the passenger seat. After the situation settled I found the petrol almost underneath my " the driver" seat facing down. My mixpre is velcro strapped by the ears but my SDD744t is only held by a lot of extra padding on the sides and 2 velcro on both sides of the big 6600mah battery. Everything was held nice and tide together and is working just fine. I imagine the petrol rolle…

Hello, Tried a search, but couldn't find what I was looking for. If there is a traffic scene, with a bunch of extras in cars, is there a rental/purchase unit of some sort that will broadcast to an empty FM station to which all the extras can tune their car radios? I guess we are talking about a one city block area. Robert

I'm going to do a two day shooting for a college film with a nagra ares C. I've never used it. Despite of the force of the name, I'd like to know if its mic preamps are all I need or if I should get at least one portable mixer to do the job (something of sound devices most likely). The mic is a schoeps CMC641. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Hello group, I was thinking of trying out two shure MX202 goosnecked-mics for car-dialog.. To me this mic seems easy enough to mount/hide it under/over the visors and the flexible gooseneck makes it very easy to actually point the mic at the one who is speaking. I used to do the same with COS11's but have mixed results, I would like a tighter pickup-pattern so the Shure mics with a hyper-cardioid look like a good bet to me.. Anyone ever heard of this mics or used them?

Can anyone suggest a inexpensive source for TA3F connectors. I think I want the "real" Switchcraft brand unless someone can suggest something just as good at equal or less price. I've tried the "cheap" china brands that can be had on ebay. They are no good. The pin "socket" actually spins in the connector making it difficult to mate. Thanks, Tom

Just looking at a few at some recent post about hiding lavs, and I though that it would be nice to have one post that encompasses what do you keep in your kit for mounting lavs and why?

**** THIS PART I GOT FIGURED OUT, NEVER MIND **** Going through my new Fusion 10 last night testing things, getting used to it all, but have a few issues coming up. I can't seem to hear any changes when I activate my high pass filters or even limiters. I've been just trying to notice something, so I set the HPF to 240 and try toggling it on and off but notice no changes. Not sure if this has to do with what I'm monitoring in my headphones mix, I'm monitoring disk tracks at the moment while making these HPF/limiter changes.

Found one of these banging around in the water storage drawer here at the studio. What do you think, a little bit of nostalgic fun good for an impromptu live to 2-track (with outboard preamps / mixer) or not worth the trouble?

I do the sound and media at my church. We are currently using a TASCAM CD-RW900 to do all of our recording. It is not getting a signal right now. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what it could be. By the way, this piece of equipment is brand new and was working perfectly a couple of weeks ago. Thanks.

For a limited time, Coffey Sound will have the SuperCMIT available for everyone to have a listen. Here are some of the basics to know about this special new microphone: This is a digital microphone which requires AES42 phantom power. The only recorder supplying such power at the moment is the Sound Devices 788T. We also have an AES42 (with phantom power) to AES3 converter (the PSD 2 U) from Schoeps to allow this microphone to be used with ubiquitous AES inputs (from Fostex, Sonosax, Tascam, Zaxcom etc.) The SuperCMIT has a new design based on the original CMIT-5U but instead contains two transducers (capsules) and integrated A/D circuitry in the mic body. The …
