I just came across this on Facebook...very cool, if you need it. It was developed by a local (Toronto) sound guy named Don Grunsten. I have never met him, but I hear he is a great guy The company is called BoomBox.

HI everyone, I have a friend doing a corporate low budget project in dusseldorf DE. He is traveling from the states and is thinking he can maybe use his VHF radios instead of this apparently illegal(566-608 mghz) UHF radios while in germany. Is this an option? Secondly, any rental suppliers in Dusseldorf that are trustworthy? thanks, john.

What are some good ways to hide a flat head mic under clothing such as the TR-50, VT-500, Sonotrim, PSC, etc? Vampire clips work well, but tend to still make lots of noise.

I have been borrowing a boommate and a c-stand for while. Just purchased a boommate and want to get a nice c-stand. I would rather get a big c-stand then have to haul sand bags with me every time. Please educate

Hi, The show I'm working on at the moment supplied me with Ultralife 9v batteries to use in 14 x Lectro UM400 transmitters. Although my experience with this particular battery is limited, they have always worked in the UM400. Here's the thing, most of the batteries wont even power up the UM400's. Some make the transmitter turn on but a second later the power LED goes red and then a few seconds later, it shuts down. We measured the voltage on about 30 batteries and they all read about 9.5 volts. I tried putting my tongue on one of them and absolutely no zap at all yet the voltage was 9.5v Tried various UM400's with batteries from different boxes with no su…

Howdy all. I was referred here by the fine folks at rec.audio.pro. I'm a live/studio cat in the NYC burbs looking to dip his toes into location recording. My stepfather, a semipro videographer, asked that I specify two lav kits (mic, belt pack, reciever) and a mixer for direct input to his handheld DV cam. Mic kits should be ~$300, mixer should be ~$1.5k . Having access to some additional funding, I decided this would be a great opportunity to look at longer-term options re pooling resources with him for a larger location sound loadout and then looking for work in the city. Thoughts and activities so far; Called full compass, they sugg…

Hey Gang, Tried doing some searches, but came up short - anyone have any recommendations for a monitor for a mac mini? Maybe something in the 9 to 11 inch range? I don't need anything too fancy - so far anything I've come across seems to cost maybe $700 and up. Ideally I'm looking to pay less than that. Thanks, -Greg-

any MKE1 users on this board? wondering if it has it's use in film-production? it's being advertised as a live performance mic for theater-applications.. How does it sound compared to a COS11? I like the size, and the anti-kink cable-sleeve looks like a useful addition.. Thanks, Diego

Just wanted to get some feedback on those using (or have used) the PSDM302 before. I have seen some photos of some of bags using the SD-7 series recorder with the SD302, and was wondering whether you had any difficulty in turning the knob of the 7 series recorder. Coz I'm planning down the line to get a 744T with a SD302 in the PS607 bag (if its not too tight to fit the fingers). Do you guys have a hard time turning the knob, it seems like a tight fit to get the fingers in (from the photos). Appreciate your feedback experience on this. Thanks, Lawrence

Hello, I'm still shopping for a used lectro lav/receiver. With a budget of $500, I see many models but I'm having trouble understanding the differences. Can anyone clarify the numbers between 185 - 195. There seems to be 185, 187, 190, 190B and 195. Thanks!

Hi I'm looking forward to buy 2 Dpa microphones. I'd like to use them for car scenes, or hide on table.... to replace my old lectros cub, some people told me to go with the 4071 (three sound guys from Montreal) with the, http://www.dpamicrophones.com/en/products.aspx?c=item&category=142&it... accessories, but I also saw the compact serie that seem really attractive... http://www.dpamicrophones.com/en/products.aspx?c=Catalog&category=114 do you have any suggestions please. Thank you Arno

Got some more air traveling gigs coming my way, and have been wanting to buy a much shorter boom for easier packing. Before I was taking my 12' Loon with me everywhere, which was not very easy. I tried a few months ago to special order a custom Loon shorty, but I think this request happened during their drama and got ignored. So far I've been looking at the K-tec KE79 but wanted to hear from any other users what they might recommend, or perhaps if they have anything like this to sell?

So I am using the 5 pin out of a Panasonic HDX-900 camera to monitor the return back at my mixer. And the audio from the 5 pin has a delay (assuming that the audio is comming of the playback head). Is there any way to get the audio return out of the 5 pin without a delay? Is the delay issue true for all 5 pins outs? Thanks Bob

Just a quick question, anyone tried powering up the zoom h4n recorder from the Remote Audio BDS? I searched the remote audio website & there's no cable made for the h4n.

Quick LT question: Can you manually go into record without jamming timecode? I've got the TC cable on order (shame I can't find a cable that'll directly link my 744t to the LT) but I'm shooting before it arrives and would like the security of having everything recorded on the device. There's a record key, but I can't make it actually record nor does the manual say anything about recording without jamming TC. Can't wait for an LT manual to come out... The trx800/900 combo manual isn't terribly fantastic. BTW, does anyone know a source for the Lemo connectors - both the 3 pin fvb.00 and the 5 pin FGB.0B? I'd love to build a cable so as to not need …

Ok so I recently purchased a pair of MK21 capsules and CMR cables to use for car scenes. (it's a collette to TA5 - http://www.schoeps.de/en/products/cmr). I used one with an SMQVa tx and it sounded weird. Boxy and phasey and with a distinct hiss, similar to a mis-wired lav on a servo bias tx. We tested it and found that if the antenna was touching the cable the hiss appeared (it wasn't quiet enough on set to hear if it sounded boxy also). However if the cable was held a certain way the capsule sounded wonderful. Sucks because I wanted to use the rig as a compact Schoeps plant, but now I'm gonna have to worry about proper position of the freakin cable? Reading…

I (still) have two 185 systems, one of which I'm planning to part with. I've mixed up which antenna goes with which receiver. The antennas vary in length by an inch. (Approx. 11" and 12" from the BNC connector.) The systems' frequencies are 193.950MHz and 207.200MHz . Should I assume the 207MHz system gets the shorter of the antennas? Thanks, Rick (refugee from spam infested RAMPS)

Hi, I know this topic has been beaten up on previous posts, but nowhere on this board is any mention of the Sony 680S (maybe because it's a relatively new model). Every once and awhile I get the itch to add an MS mic to my kit for the documentary stuff but never so eager to drop $2k+ for the css5, neumann, or dual mic setups. These two, the Audio Technica BP4029 and the Sony ECM 680S, have near identical feature sets and are priced to be competitive to each other. Hoping someone here has used one or both of these models enough to have developed some feedback regarding their usefulness for sub-$1000 stereo recording. Differences in specs I have noticed: - Sony …

I have B6 that I bought for G2 kit a few years back. It rarely sees any use these days as I have been running with Microns in my kit and just keep the G2 as a worst case scenario back-up. I love the sound of the mic and its ease of use and don't want to just leave it sitting around, but I don't know if the ultra thin wiring will allow an easy conversion. Straight up-am I wasting my time trying to get this connection converted? And is there anyone in the UK that's recommended for this kind of work? Thanks, Damien
