Saw a nice looking sound cart on eBay. I remember reading a post about comfy add-on headphone pads & was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. After reading the post about the Etymotic ER-4S, I was thinking about finding a set of pads for my 7506's that might help during the summer... Anyone have a lead? Just a couple of updates to my DC power/distro system- I added a "master switch" to take the pressure off of the Lectro switches (which have been kinda finicky!) The switch is pressure fit into an XLR boot (I found a washer in my toolbox that just fit snugly enough) The battery on the left powers my Zaxcom Tx, one lead is power to the Tx and the other is a voltmeter as the battery indicator on the Zax is useless (running from 7.2V) The distro has 4 outputs via 4 pin Hirose connectors. This was a fun project so far. I plan on adding an LED indicator and maybe fuses, lol. -JP

I am going to try and use re-chargeable batteries on the next movie and I need some advice. I think I know the best items to get but I am having a little bit of difficulty trying to figure out the quantities needed and the "workflow" (maybe workflow is a little too big a word, but you know what I mean). I have 12 Comtek receivers and that is where I will start. So, do I need at least 12 x 9 volt batteries and then how many more to handle whatever the re-charge cycle will be. Then on to the slates, 2 Denecke slates, 1 TS-3 and 1 TS-2, both take AA size. Lastly, I know this has been discussed before, how should the production be charged for these? Maybe buy all that is n…

Got this from a friend of mine who works at a large post house thought I would share: Some information regarding DVD archival I thought I would pass on, and hopefully pass onto others: As for as dual layer DVD+R DL media is concerned, the best, most reliable, and only true archival-quality media is Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL; that said, only seek the discs with "Made in Singapore" on the packaging, and when inserted into a drive and checked with an app such as Nero DiscSpeed, are denoted with a manufacturer ID: MKM 001 Many other brands (and even outsourced Verbatim), are made in Taiwan and India; the success rate of these are roughly 50% on a burn, if the complete …

Does anyone have any location experience with these buds http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er4.aspx ? I was thinking of getting a pair of lightweight, in-ear monitors for use in hot environments when I don't want my 750's making my ears uncomfortable from the heat. The other pair that I was looking at are the IE7 from Sennheiser http://is.gd/ZezE Any thoughts and feedback (do I really want to use a word like that when talking about headphones?) would be very much appreciated. Damien

I am trying to get rid of a little noise in my headphone feed to my boom ops. Traced back to inverter noise (and generally, these inverters are VERY quiet. This is a nitpick.) Anyone tried the Ebtech HumX AC line noise filter on their inverter? Thanks. D.

Hi all, I am going to be doing a week on a very low budget feature at the end of June and am going to use my SD442 to feed a borrowed 744 recorder. I dont often do drama and am looking for suggestions on an optimum setup. I am told we will have maximum 3 people delivering dialogue at any given time and my thoughts are now about what to route where. I would like to have my boom on channel 1 of the 442 panned left, then the 3 wireless mics in chanels 2/3/4 panned centre. This will let me route 442 Left output to track 1 on 744 (mix track) then Right ouput to track 2 on 744 (mix of wires) Then I would use channel 1 direct out from the 442 to route the boom onl…

Hi all, I'm looking for two 1U sliding (and hopefully locking) rack shelves that will fit a standard SKB case (front to rear rails = 15.75"). I have read here that there are no "off the shelf" products available for these cases, but have seen many photos here of some of your carts that seem to feature these shelves -- so hoping someone here can point me in the right direction to a product or a jerry-rig solution. Thanks much! nvt

I wasn't able to find info via searching and I am hoping some manufacturers could answer( or anyone else for that matter). Why don't location recorders( cantar, deva, 788, etc) pass audio via FireWire to a computer? I mean this in terms of recording and sending audio on fw at same time

I continue to be amazed what the digital audio revolution has brought us. I'm not saying that this Zoom R-16 will replace my Deva, Cooper etc., but it is pretty incredible. from the Samson - Zoom site: http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=2009 "Zoom has revolutionized digital recording again with the first digital recorder with 16-track playback and 8-track simultaneous recording that utilizes Secure Digital (SD) memory. The new R16 recorder is three production tools in one incredibly versatile device. It's a digital multi-track recorder, an audio interface and a control surface, providing you with all the tools necessary to create studio-qualit…

I want to give a shout out to Frank, over at AudioDepartment.tv. He suggested "stickit dots", and I used these with a lot of success. I was working on a large reality TV show (24 wireless mics), and we had to hide every single B6 mic. We used the 'undercovers' and left them on the mics, but also used the "stickit dots" to replace the mics each day.. stuck on all the fabrics great..

If these batteries are widely used then I'm sorry for being out of the loop and rehashing some old information. For anyone using the FR2-LE and still using AA batteries you may be interested in these http://is.gd/OjGT I use the 4500 rocket pack to power the recorder and I get days of use out of one of these packs. The recorder can be left on all day and I average between 2 and a half and 3 days on a single charge. I've only used the phantom power option on the recorder once when I had a defective cable for my mixer but it still didn't draw too much life from the battery. I keep 2 of these packs in my kit and I know that I'm going to be safe for the week on a shoot.…

I've been using my new 788T for a couple of days now on a new series. It's mounted in my cart, near my lectrosonics Venue system. Whenever i hit record on the 788T 2 of my wireless channels get interference. I haven't had much time to trouble shoot yet, but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and if they have any tips to try and solve the issue. I'll try physically moving the recorder further away from the Venue, but the cart is pretty tight and I'll probably only gain 4-5 inches more distance. Besides, the receivers antennas are about 4-5 feet above the cart. I heard the 744T used to have similar issues. Was the interference with the 744T frequency related ? …

Hi guys, This is my first post here so if I'm covering something that's been covered in the past the I apologise in advance for wasting time. I was hoping to hear from anyone who has used the Blackbox Video Foldback/Comms sets http://www.blackboxvideo.co.uk/ and to see what their thoughts were on them. I'm rarely in a position where I need to send head set feeds to people but when I do I just rent something like the Sennheiser IEM. They do the trick for small jobs but I was thinking about getting a system from Blackbox because they look like a stronger build and are an affordable option for the times when I'd need to roll them out (camera hop or feeds for script sup…

I just wanted to chime in to say that I just picked up a couple Neopax ankle and waist bands and the COS-11 vampire clips. Both products are great. The vampire clip holds my Sankens very firmly, but they also release the mic with enough tension. The Neopax work very well, much better than anything else I have ever tried. I would like to make a velcro "cover" to protect the top of the Tx from sweat and other contaminants. -Jason

Hi Guys , Just awaiting the delivery of my fusion . How well does the note writing and storing work in the real world and is it ok as a log? I see you can only write up to 16 characters but there are several "note boxes" . Also is this all stored in the metadata section of the BWF? . Has anyone seen what it looks like like when opened on the avid or protools . I am wondering if i could use it instead of a more comprehensive log program i currently use . Many thanks Tony
