Has anyone tried these? I'm happy with the iPower 520mah 9v batteries, but seeing that these Ultralasts are 1600mah, it would seem that they should potentially last a whole production day in a Lectro Tx...? http://www.amazon.com/Ultralast-Rechargeable-Batteries-Recharges-Professional/dp/B005SZYECM

I thought i would treat myslef to an early Christmas present, and picked up a pair of Ultrasone 750 headphones. I brought them home and listened to some music and was blown away with there performance. I was hearing things I had never heard before in recordings. But today i used them on a documentary gig, and I don't know if they are suited for production work. It seemed like i really needed to crank the volume to hear properly. They seemed almost to "open" for lack of a better word, to really hear the detail of dialog. Do i just need time to get used to them, or should i go back to the 7506's ? Looking for anyone else out there that uses Ultrasones for production work.

Interested in upgrading my cans so I did some searching and reading and it seems like a lot of folks use HFI 680s or Pro 750s. In between the two (speaking of price) there are also Pro 550s which are the same price as HFI 780s. Oh, and then there's the HFI 2400 which is about the same price. So I'd really like to know anything about the differences. Sound? Materials? I guess the HFI series is consumer orientated, as opposed to the pro series? Their website doesn't really help in that respect, so if anyone knows more than me feel free to share!

Hi, does anybody know whether the Ultrasone HFI headsets are wired with Litz wire or standard copper from the headset speaker to the 1/8" plug? Thanks! (Senator, not trying to pee in your oatmeal, but the manufacturer is closed today...)

Hmmm... From Timecode Systems: UltraSync BLUE is simple, low-cost, and has the potential to synchronise any camera or sound recording device with Bluetooth®connectivity. There are no cables and no mounting issues, giving you more freedom to shoot from creative angles with smaller, more mobile cameras. It can even sync iPhones. UltraSync BLUE is our first product to synchronise over Bluetooth®. Once connected, timecode is transmitted wirelessly from the UltraSync BLUE directly into the media file of connected devices. By removing the restrictions of a wired connection, crews not only benefit from extra convenience, but also get even more versat…

My understanding is that the sync out on the USO can be configured as a second LTC output, so am I correct in thinking that I could run one output to my MixPre 6 and the other to my camera using my breakaway cable? If so, the USO just got way more interesting for me. Plus the DSLR two pack is discounted for Black Friday…

Hello, I would like to know if European (possibly UK) users have a reliable (and not escruciating expensive) source for the DIN 1.0/2.3 connectors. Ideally right angle ones. How everyone is doing with impedance? Genlock 75ohm, LTC 50ohm, right? Thanks.

Howdy. Am working this am, was testing my UM 400 and UM200 and I found that they seem to "pump" or sound kinda like waves crashing (with headphones turned up) when I move the transmitters around. If I hit the antenna against my other hand, I get this same sound. Not sure if it's the mics (perhaps they're wired for sm's) or the transmitters. It happens to a lesser degree without the mic plugged in, but it still seems to happen either way. I don't have this problem on the sm's Happens with just 1 tx/rx turned on. Anybody have this problem? Know of any solutions? Thanks! John

Hope to hear some thoughts on this, whether it is actually something I'm hearing is hard to tell, or whether I'm just being pedantic and need to accept the fact that I'm working with a boom on the beach right by extremely noisy ocean surf. Here goes: Running a boom track via a lectro hop to camera on the beach with a lot of ocean surf noise in the background, this surf noise is pretty constant, and would sound very similar to the white noise generated in a building except and obviously a lot louder. In this particular situation it is impossible to use lavaliere mics, which would obviously have worked best. This is the kind of situation where we have to shoot r…

I've emailed Lectro already, but I'm curious if anyone can help me in here. I recently purchased some secondhand x2 ucr411a's and a um400 unit. They are in great physical condition and the UCR411a's are as amazing as ever. However, the UM400 unit is giving me some trouble with its connection. Whenever I plug in a mic I get a low frequency rumble and static. I'll link audio recordings of the problem here https://youtu.be/mea6MYKZA7I and I'll include pictures of the connector/internals of the unit here as well. (not going to take apart the motherboard because I'm scared lol) Stinks because I just got these, but I wanna see if its a simple fix or nee…

Hey all, I've been noticing an occasional slight "tick" coming from one of my UM400s, and upon further inspection, I've been able to replicate it by squeezing the pack ever so slightly towards the top of the clip (see attached video- edit: here is a Google Drive link if that's easier). Has anyone run into this before? I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to address it or if it will require sending it back to Lectro. Thanks for your thoughts! 1338560681_UM400test.mov

I recently picked up a used 552 and have neen using it with my remote audio umbillical. If I need to do the 2 camera feed I see I can use the mini xlr outs to my 2nd remote audio umbillical... but no return. The hirose hose is the way to go, which one do you employ? I see remote audio has a 10 pin hirose with the TC bnc to t3 connector, anyone use this hose or is there another hirose I should consider. Thx JHW

Hi! I'm using two Sennheiser 2000 systems as a camera hop and now my camera guy has managed to break both Rx cables in 2 days. I can tape them down and it works pretty good, but it's not very reassuring. We're in the middle of nowhere so I can't get new ones or repair these ones. I do however have two complete extra G3 systems with their unbalanced cl-100 rx cables. Could I use the unbalanced cl-100 cable with the 2000 rx, wich uses the balanced cl-500 cable? Or is it better to stick with taped down cl-500 cables? Yes I know, I'm gonna try it myself tomorrow, but I'd rather not waste everyones time on set once we get there, if it's just a stupid idea that w…

I just stumbled across THIS at B&H. An unadvertised, better than BF deal. Let me put it this way... on Amazon, they sold out completely at $210... AND they filled the waitlist completely after that! Where would you rather buy? Between the two, I'll take B&H any day. A DR-100mkii for $205 to your door? It's $70 cheaper than it was yesterday... and just LAST WEEK... I was debating the "extra $50 over the H4N"... now today? $20 LESS than the H4N. Within the past two weeks I had a major client ask me for mp3 instead of the BWF that I had been giving them... I thought, "Huh?"... then they went on to say that they needed to FTP it twice a day du…

Hi to everyone I was recently asked to work on a documentary shooting, which will be shot in underground caves. I was first asked if I am claustrophobic and then informed that I will be wearing a water proof uniform that will cover me up to my neck. Camera will be housed in a special underwater casing and I will also have to build up an "underwater" housing for my equipment too. I first thought to give it a go with Rode's NTG3 as it is the most humid protected mic I know . I was informed that production wants to shoot even if we are covered up to our neck with water and the guy who speaks is also covered up to his neck with water and there might be no possibility t…

Hey all, I'm doing a shoot at the moment in San Francisco, Discovery Channel build show a' la Mythbusters, and am researching underwater camera gear and operators in the SF Bay area. We're shooting on Sony PDW-F350 HD XDCam, but I'm thinking it might be tricky and expensive to find underwater housings for these units. Format is PAL HD 1080i. If anyone out there can point me in the right direction I would be forever grateful, I'm not from The US so don't know many locals, or where to start. Cheers, Jason

Very recently I was recording for a commercial and we used an underwater camera rig. Two of my large friends where going to do a cannonball so I thought to jimmy rig my lav in an airtight seal of Glad Wrap, Duck Tape, and Rubber bands over 2 cups and more bags. It worked very well, really clean. How many of you have had a more clean underwater recording rig and how'd you do it?

I stumbled over this and just wanted to share. I had not seen this before, nor have heard no one talk about it on this site. Made by Ambient http://www.ambient.de/en/produkte/ambient-recording/underwater/sd-uw.html I laughed pretty hard when seeing this. Thou On the plus side, It would be fun doing some sound effect recording with some surround hydrophones.
