I was wondering if anyone has had the Venue 2 freeze. The modules work but the screen is frozen. None of the buttons or jog wheel work. Can’t power down from the front panel either. I have to power down by pulling four pin from Meon Life. This will reset the unit but only briefly then will freeze. Any info would be appreciated. George

I recently traded a couple of emails with Larrry Fisher at Lectro regarding the Venue System and the possibility of a remote interface. The unit can be remotely monitored by the LecNet software, however this require the use of a Laptop or PC, running Windows. My thoughts are more on the lines of a remote interface with the LCD screen and buttons only. This will allow for the rack to be placed anywhere on the cart, not necessarily in the line of sight. Larry spoke with his engineers and they gave the quick determination that the interface would cause too much RF. However, I have seen remote interfaces for many products in the audio world, and they seem to work. It …

Hi Guys! Is there any news about Lectrosonics making new receptors blocs for the Venue System in the same concept as the new L series systems? This would be great I believe! Thanks Tony Muricy Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

Was just curious if anyone uses the antenna outputs on the Venue for their TV tuner. I know these outputs are supposed to be "tuned" for the specific block (21-22 for me), but does it make that much difference for Modulus/Canatrans reception. Will it affect my wireless mic reception? Don't want to try it out and then mess up something inside the Venue. Thanks in advance, Robert

Hi gang, Just received a venue and going about powering my 650 antenna. Have the board open but there is no pins in the slots. Have done this before with other venues and usually there's 2 white forks you swap around. None in this unit. There are two below them though. Are they spares by any chance? Fingers crossed. Hey Guys, Doing a car scene tomorrow and I'll be mixing from a follow van. I was thinking of powering my venue system off of my IDX Lithium Ion NP-L7S batteries. It's a regular rack mount venue system, not a VR Field if that makes a difference power wise. We should be in that car for a couple hours. I was wondering if anyone had done this before and knows what kind of runtime to expect from each battery. Thanks, Joe

Hey guys, Looking to make the plunge into Lectrosonics venue world and was wondering about some opinions on both the VR Field and the venue. I like the fact that the Venue is 19" rack mount but do appreciate the fact that if I "ever" need to get it of the cart and power it the VR Field is ready to go. I'm sure it's been discussed before but looking for real world experience and mostly looking for major pluses or minuses of both because of user experience. I currently run cantar in a bag with 5 411's but I want to streamline the cart. getting a lot more cart based work and I would like to have both a bag system and a cart system that i can share a few transmit…

I’ve recently had the pleasure of using the new Lectrosonics Venue 2. It’s such a huge improvement over the original Venue; something our industry already considers the proven modular workhorse. With new features such as wide-band blocks, IQ filtering, lowered noise floor, Wireless Designer with built-in frequency coordination and—one of my favorite features—menu-driven antenna power toggling, you can be sure to see the Venue 2 on sound mixer’s carts all over the world soon enough! What the new and old Venues have in common: The Venue and Venue 2 share many core similarities. Each can handle six wireless modules which can be installed without tools. Both…

Hi All, This could wait until tomorrow when Lectro is open, but would love to get it sorted out tonight if possible. I have two venues, one is a rental and one is my personal, both 21-29. I installed version 5.2 firmware on the rental venue successfully. I then installed it on mine. It installs successfully but when I detect receivers, the venue claims that there are none detected when indeed I have four VRTs installed. The rental detected all VRTs installed just fine. I am using the vrwb v5_2.hex update file. One difference is on the startup. The rental's startup says VR Receiver Version 5.2 Wideband Mid. My personal venue does not say Wideband Mid. Am I…

Hi all, Just bought an external laptop battery to power up my Venue with 4 VRS. 16V or 19V/100W switchable. Charging time 3 hours. Draining the battery now and see how long it last with the Venue. Will do further testing with my full loaded Venue next week. Its light, has a 5 Led indicator and a 5V out from a USB port !! Price US$120. Alan Chong

I am considering looping through my UMCWB into my Wideband Venue. A ALP620 > A Venue In < A Venue Out < A UMCWB In B ALP620 > B Venue In < B Venue Out < B UMCWB In If it works, I've just added 4 more wireless to my system, which is a positive or negative depending on who you ask Has anyone had any real world experience with this setup? From my garage, it worked ok, having my friend roam the street with a UM400 transmitter on his belt, as I watched the meters from my cart. Signal drop out came a little earlier than I would have hoped, but it could have been the frequency I was using on his transmitter. The other kicker is that I am…

I'm sure someone has asked this and the answer exists somewhere but I just wanted to ask. I'm trying to verbally slate with the Nomad and I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ideally I would hear it in my cans and it would lay down on the track as well for the editors or to communicate with cam op or producers via IFB. Thanks!

Just to have a general idea...they don't have these harnesses in stock around here so maybe if you use one you could tell me if a size "2" would fit me: 5'11'' 200 pounds. There's 3 sizes from what I understand: 1: large / 2: normal / 3: small ? thanks

I've noticed that virtually all of the vertical-style carts pictured recently on this forum have the operator working at the side--ie across the back wheels, as opposed to facing the "front" of the cart as it would roll (ie: the "little wheel end"). Why are you guys doing this? Easier access to connectors? Less stuff sticking out that can be broken off? thanks Philip Perkins

Re: my design for resale cart. So unless I get feedback to the contrary I plan to make my vertical Location sound mixer carts be standard width between c to c of rack rail holes for standard 19” rack mount gear and be 21” clear between the frame in any area where user chooses to not have rack rail. Rack Rail can be added in 4RU increments (approx 7”). Hopefully the people wanting an “open area” will find the 21” clear sufficient to meet their needs. The only completely open area will be on the top. Feedback wanted... Mark Pope Stabilitech

I'm about to begin a "do it myself" project and I need to locate about 6 of those small toggle switches that are either so VERY short that it almost impossible to bump them, or a toggle switch that has those little "cup" protectors around them that are not uncommon to this business. Can anyone suggest a sourse for these switches? I've tried and tried different searches and just can't seem to find them. Thanks, Tom

I did an interview yesterday and I had this recurring problem every 2-5 minutes or so. It was always the same: 5 quick pulses of the high noise, under his voice, but it seemed to be amplified when the speaker increased his volume, leading me to think it's a problem with the lav or the transmitter. I'm using Sanken COS11-D's wired for Lectro, with an adapter to the Sennheiser G3's. His receiver was going into input 2 of my 552 out of the direct out line level pre-fade to input 3 of the 744t. I have never experienced this problem before, and I use these same pieces of equipment on a very regular basis. Any ideas what it could be? sample.wav

HI everyone, I have a friend doing a corporate low budget project in dusseldorf DE. He is traveling from the states and is thinking he can maybe use his VHF radios instead of this apparently illegal(566-608 mghz) UHF radios while in germany. Is this an option? Secondly, any rental suppliers in Dusseldorf that are trustworthy? thanks, john.

I just came into a couple invisity flex receivers in the 195-202 band. What transmitters are available that can operate in this band that will provide the best range and performance? I'm aware of the T4 at 50mw. There's also an older phonak transmitter I know little about, and then there's the older lectro "M" series. Any others I should be aware of? Or any to avoid? I'm curious what will give me the best overall performance and what antennas people recommend that aren't too huge/impractical.

Hi, Wondering if anyone here knows (or can check with a video assist guy) about streaming a video assist feed. It doesn't need to be better than Skype or video conference. Producers in writers' office want to be able to see costumes/hair/etc. Don't need a smooth stream all the time. Looking for a box that'll accept NTSC composite video in (and audio too) with 3G service.

I'm getting a little tired of vision delays on LCD's used for video assist systems. Typically the delay seems to be around 4- 6 frames. For some reason, everyone on set seems to think this a sound problem. The people who supply the video assist systems say there's no LCD's video monitors available with low delay - say 1 frame. When I suggest that there's no problem with CRT's the video assist crew all get grumpy and start mumbling about how heavy they and the director wanting a large monitor (to watch a low res picture from a film camera tap!) On my current shoot, I purchased a Behringer Shark DSP110 and settled on 0.25 seconds delay on the Comtek feed. This was fine…

I am currently working on a show with two Sony 900 HD cameras. I as most every other department these days has become very used to seeing the picture. I don't have to keep bugging the operator by asking is this or that in shot, the AD's can properly run back ground etc.etc. The problem I'm having is that all my gear is analog and the downconverters supplied by Panavision are not very good. I have used miranda video converters in the past which work very well. What I want to avoid is being dependent on the camera department for a picture. Does anyone know of a reasonable priced monitor that I could use to loop out of the DP's wave form to my cart on a single bnc HD in…

I've searched, but I cant't find it. I seem to remember someone around NAB time mentioning a recorder much like the Sound Devices PIX, but considerably better designed and considerably higher priced. It was small enough to mount on top of a camera and recorded to TWO CF cards, or maybe just hard drive... I can't remember. Anyone know what that might be. Tom
