I have a request for an in-ear receiver for talent, but in a setup I have not seen. They say they've used a walkie to give talent direction. I'm thinking it has to be a Phonak or similar style earpiece. Perhaps it was an induction loop. Not sure just yet. But I just wanted to see if anyone has used an earpiece without the induction loop to receive walkie chatter for on-screen talent. I suppose I could route a walkie through a comtek that would transmit to the Phonak. The director just doesn't want a handheld mic or lav. Thoughts?

just bought an Ultrasone Pro 750 cause I wanna see if it makes a difference (as stated by others) on long days. I am now listening to recorded dialogue tracks and compare them to my 7506. To my ears the voices sound thinner, compressed and with no air around. How long did it take you guys with Ultrasone to get used to their sound? I´m worried about starting my next feature and being not familiar with the sound of my cans. Matthias

From the 664 Manual: The phantom voltage is selectable between 12 and 48 Volts from the Setup Menu item INPUTS > Phantom Voltage. The selected voltage level applies to all inputs with phantom power enabled. The factory default phantom power voltage is 48 V. Anyone know if there's a way other than either external 48V or T-Power to do this?

Hi, I was asked to plan an audio recording opportunity for a simple one person video recording booth (yes, for social media). A good audio solution seems to me a small diaphragm from a below suspension with a swivel like that one: https://schoeps.de/en/products/accessories/accessories-colette/gvc.html But Schoeps is way too expensive / *too good* for this project. Only alternative I found was from Oktava, but I don't really know that brand ... Do you know anything else? I thought of AKG, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, Rode in the price range up to 500€. Or is there any XLR swivel on the market I could combine with a very short …

Hey everyone! I'm a sound recordist and more commonly DIT on commercials. I'd love to buy a vertical cart, if anyone is graduating / switching their setup. I'm considering building one myself, and I'm reading through the forum for inspiration. But just in case anyone is selling off. Thanks! D

Hi all! I have been working for a company producing educational programs for the last several years. I am now back out in the freelance world and wanting to set myself back up for field audio. I have a fair amount of experience from my freelance life prior to going to work for this company, but have a couple of questions for those kind souls who can share some info. So far I have put together the following gear (some purchased from JW Sound members - thanks!): Sennheiser MKH416P48 with Rycote blimp/deadcat Schoeps CMC641 K-tek 102CC Boom pole Sennheiser G3 lav set with butt plug Lectrosonics U195 lav set with Tram mic Countryman B3 …

I have a massive problem with audio jumps on the zoom f6. Below is a video example from another user. Audio jumps at some point and gets out of sync, you can clearly hear it in the audio file, so its not a syncing issue. I testeed 5 different high quality cards and orderend two new ones to be sure its not a card problem. As it happend the first time in dual record mode (32 plus 24 bit), Zoom claimed it should only happen in this mode, but right now it happend in 24 bit mode as well. All "full card tests" on this recorder and its replacement failed in the recorder with seven good cards (for example sandisk extreme pro) that work well in cameras and…

Hi All, I just want to give a heads up to folks regarding issues I've encountered with the MixPre-10ii since upgrading to FW 7.16. On two of my last 3 jobs I have encountered a single occurrence each of a recorded file being discontinuous in the middle with upwards of 9 video frames worth of data missing in the recording. This of course resulted in loss of lip sync with picture - I had to find the point at which the "skip" occurred in the timeline, cut the audio file at that point, and then move the remaining audio 9 frames to the right in order to reestablish proper sync. Unfortunately, this left a 9 frame audio hole in my project but I was able to use the…

Hi everybody Im looking for advice to my rather idiotic move. After lot of use for my K-tek stingray harness - i washed it with some soap. Which of course have resulted in it making rather much noise. Now every time i move around with my bag and boom a combination of rustling and stretching sound occur rather minor but in quiet scenes its super bad. So have anybody been in the same position and have a good method for making it function again? I have been thinking of giving it a new bath but his time with a lot of coconut oile or something that. Best Regards!

Hi all! I have a job which will involve the talent getting submerged often in saltwater, white water rafting etc… I have Lectrosonics WM transmitters for the task, but am curious about the capsules. What are peoples experiences with capsules working under these conditions, with being submerged and still working. Lectro M152-WP, Sanken COS-11D, B3, B6 etc… cheers!

Im looking to make a water proof enclosure for my 633, an np battery and an src receiver. Ideally it would have a clear panel to see meters through. Does not need to be deep water submersible as it will likely be on a kayak deck. Has anyone messed around to make something like this? Opening the lid to adjust gain is probably fine and I will use wingman to roll and cut. Cheers

I've looked at the E6, but it makes a connection by the headset, and not sure if it's same waterproof capsule as B6. Couldn't find it on their website. Yes yes yes, I can call them, and I might. But another solution can perhaps be found here. I'm looking for a solution that an actor can wear while floating face up in water tank. There will be cables and such stuck to her (no clothing, however), so the mic cable can run down umbilical to a hard wire, all as set dressing. Is there a sleek headset which will accept my B6? It needs to be able to be removed quickly as part of the scene (without breaking).

Sorry if this is widely known, but I've only just learned about this. Waterproof VT500 lav. This could have been a good mic to have when I was working outdoors in Ireland. To say that conditions there were "slighty damp" at times is a huge understatement! http://www.voicetechnologies.net/pdf/vt500water.pdf

I'm doing a shoot Monday that "might" benefit from some waterproof lavs. I was told we could cut and probably get away with booming it, and we just might. However I would love to have the option. So, could some of you chime in and tell me which make and model lavs are waterproof? Presently I own: Sanken COS11's Countryman B6's Sennheiser MKE-2's MM Audio (AKA Microphone Madness) MM-PSM-L Which if any of these can be submerged in water a foot or two? If none of these will work, I guess I'm out of luck. To late to order anything for Monday! Still I'd like to know for the future. Thanks, Tom
