Today I decided to remove the large knobs of my 664 and put a thin rubber O ring between the face plate and the bottom of the knob in order to have more resistance required to turn them. They have always been too easy to turn with just the brushing of a garment, my coat, my belly, etc. None of my Allen wenches fit. For SAE 1/16 (.063) is too small. 5/64 (.078) is too large. For Metric 1.5mm is too small and 2.0 mm is too large. I spoke with a CS rep in Reedsburg and he said he has an Allen wrench that fits. He thinks it's 2mm but the tool isn't marked with a size. 🤪 Does anyone know for sure what size Allen the dang thing needs? I have tried severa…

I have B6 that I bought for G2 kit a few years back. It rarely sees any use these days as I have been running with Microns in my kit and just keep the G2 as a worst case scenario back-up. I love the sound of the mic and its ease of use and don't want to just leave it sitting around, but I don't know if the ultra thin wiring will allow an easy conversion. Straight up-am I wasting my time trying to get this connection converted? And is there anyone in the UK that's recommended for this kind of work? Thanks, Damien

Last minute job in Bulgaria and no time to rent specifics, so I'm travelling with UK channel 69 and 38 radios. Anyone used them there with any success or trouble? Thank you. Damien

I just noticed and downloaded this app by Spectrum Bridge. Essentially takes your geo position then shows you the freq traffic at this position. You also have the corresponding freqs for each channel. Free...

Hello, I have a problem with one of a set of 2 Lectrosonics SMDB transmitters: the antenna seems to have a sensitivity problem. As soon as something touches it (finger, cable, bag...) it releases a wave like kind of noise in the signal otherwise clean. The other one smdb does not have this problem. if the transmitter is put still on a table the signal is clean, even when approaching the hand. Receiver is a dual, SRA5P. What I did so far: -scanned and changed freqs -swaped freq between the 2 smdb -swaped antennas -tried different mike capsules (don't know their wiring though but all worked) -changed batteries no…

Hi group, my name is Jacob, I´m a sound recordist from Berlin, Germany. I´ve never written anything in this forum, just had a look every now and then.... But right now, I´ve got a question and maybe someone here can help me out: I will be shooting a documentary in Oahu, Hawaii in February/March and I´m not sure, which frequencies to use over there for radio mics and intercom... I think, it will not be possible to use my german wireless in Hawaii (718 - 790 MHz), right? Can anyone recommend a rental in Honolulu? I appreciate any help on this, thanks in advance! Best, Jacob.

So I am doing a job this week that is a two camera shoot. HDX200 and HPX170. I know those cameras support jamming to each other via firewire cables, but nothing that we can access. If I was going to send a camera a feed with a mono mix on one track and TC on the other, any idea what kind of pad I need on the TC side? Do I need any? I'm not going to get to play with the cameras till day one. I'm not sure it's even necessary, but if it is something easy to do, it might make somebody's life easier down the road. I'll be sending output from my Fusion through a Zaxcom hop (TRX900/RX900S) to one camera. If I feed the other camera, it will probably be a cable, or som…

Just in time for spring cleaning. This will help you dispose of all those extra laptops and hard drives cluttering up the place: http://www.datadev.com/hard-drive-shredder.html Watch the embedded demo. Note to self: it would not be advisable to reach into the delivery chute after having second thoughts about letting that ancient Motorola MicroTAC brickphone go.

Hello, Does anyone have any experience with Lectrosonics VHF IFB gear? If so, do you have any thoughts about how the use of the 174.100MHz to 215.750 MHz ( band III ) has been working out? Setting all the price differences aside, do you have any thoughts about how this gear compares to other VHF choices in terms of performance? I have been looking for a rental house that lists the Lectro VHF gear. I see the UHF at most rental houses but haven't found a VHF listing. Thank you.

Hi! Any tips or tricks to use when recording a workout session. The instructor is bouncing on mini trampoline while giving a presentation on the exercise. To the instructors credit she never sounds out of breath, but maintains a good level of volume. Has as anyone had success with such a gig? What tools and techniques worked for you? Thanks for reading this!

I have a damaged P&G fader on my Cooper 208 and I would like to replace it myself but, I am having trouble trying to remove the channel. Has anyone here had any experience pulling out the channel? I have removed the top and bottom screws, but it still feels like it is anchored in the chassis. Also would anyone know the P&G fader model number? Many Thanks, Kevin

Hey there! Thinking of buying a camera hop (Rx,Tx) within a budget of +- 2000$. I saw a zaxcom stereoline Rx+Tx (1st generation) for 2500$ and my guess is that i can negotiate a bit. There is also a zaxcom rx900s (2nd generation) for 1700$ Is there a considerable difference in performance between the 1&2 generation of zaxcom wireless?? Thanks!

I was on a gig and 3 talking heads became 4. Its a 3 camera shoot and Ive only an SRC blk 940 and 2 smqvs and a UCR 411 blk 19 and smqv. I was looking at a hard wired ECM 77 couldn't get wire to not show on super wide lockdown shot. So I remembered I have my hop DCHT/DCHR....I will just turn it around and use one mic into the splitter cable and VOILA.... I have 4 wireless. I was using the Dugan auto mix feature, had all 4 selected and as soon as the dcht/dchr combo was closed it wouldn't open again!! Quick moment of panic, battery check, turn off and back on and its working, I ended up taking this DCHT/DCHR out of auto mix and all was fine. I am guessing that being there …

Cleaning out boxes and found an almost new 187 transmitter. Thinking I would pair this a few of the new R1A-VHF receivers. But I find deviation in the specs for the IFB of 20khz and the transmitter 15khz. Guessing the audio would be thin and pinched!! Thoughts??????

So it has finally happened after 11 years. I need a part for my loon boom pole. The top compression collar has worn to the point that is starting to wiggle even when it is fully tight. I realize with the passing of Don this is probably a shot in the dark, but does anyone know of a cache of leftovers or where I might be able to find a substitute? Is this something that a 3d printer could make? Any help would be appreciated, I would really like to keep using this pole if at all possible.

Hey guys/gals I had a quick newbie question. I am pretty new to sound and my kit consists of a sound devices 552, mixpre 10 and sennheiser wireless. I was gifted a wisycom mcr42 and one mtp40 transmitter. All the mics I have are locking 3.5 and was wondering if there was an adapter anyone knew about to make a locking 3.5 into a 3 pin lemo. I looked online but the verbiage associated with them was not clear, hence me asking the experts!
