Hello, for a new project, I have to keep in sync 3 SD 664.The master TC comes from the OB truck and the 3 ENG crews are going on the field for more than 5 hours, and come back to the truck for the rest of the show. What is the best way to keep them in sync? 24 run continuous TC (set with the master TC) or free run continuous? I don't really understand the difference if I set the TC at the beginning of the day? Many thanks for your help.

Hi All (and belated NYs) Wondering if anyone on the forum has come up with a good Bluetooth type solution to recording the 'other' end of a cell phone conversation. I've done some research and it looks like it should be possible. What I need is to be able to record from a bluetooth streaming device (I can hot mod the audio output) - BUT still have that side of the conversation audible from the handpiece speaker. I figure it has something to do with what mode the bluetooth device is running in... but haven't gotten any further than that. All comment welcome Yours Chris B (working at keeping the dream alive)

Hi Everyone I'm new to the group so I apologise if i'm asking an already posted question! I'm looking into getting some Comtek IFB gear, and like the look of the PR216 OP7 Tx and 216 RX's as they're portable and can switch between bag and cart as required. Trouble is i'm UK based and can't seem to find anywhere that sales them in the UK only in the US. Was wondering if anyone could help? I love the look of the Zaxcom IFB stuff and as a proud Deva owner/user i'd like nothing more than to just go all Zax, but it's the cost issue! Cheers Stuart

Anyone own a wireless handheld that will play as late 1980s talk-show mic? The sample they have looks like the SM58 cylinder-type with a small antenna out the bottom. Hoping for one that's be able to be received with my Lectro block 21/22 receiver. Thanks, Robert (818) 304-3066

Anyone know of a Sound Report app or anything similar for use on the iPhone? I'm getting more and more cross-over ENG/scripted work with the 5D or RED where I'm booming, mixing, recording and still expected to hand in a report. The old clip-board isn't too compatible with my bag system and it would be nice to just email my report to the editor. Thanks!

I am thinking yet again about an antenna distro system. But now I am using different block receiver ( 21-22-24-26 ). Since I want to be using dipole antennas ( for size ), what are the pros and cons of using the wrong lenght of antenna for blocks. Might be a question more for Mr Larry F. Thank you Pascal

Hey guys i was considering another way of getting more isolation for a host piece to camera at a very noisy location when a Sanken red-dot just is picking up too much ambience with the omni pickup. Has anyone used dynamic lavs like the shure 11 model?

After a lengthy period of development, brackets to secure Sound Devices 788 recorders are now available from Chinhda. They incorporate many of the suggestions and wishes of people on this site. The bracket is very light - so light that it could be left on the recorder while in use in a bag. (Visit the site to follow up on the thinking on that.) The recorder slides into the frame and is securely latched in place by simply moving a spring-loaded retaining piece. The process is quick and easy; it can even be done with one hand. All buttons, switches, battery mounts, and cable connections are open and accessible. There is also good access to the CF card slot. The …

Before ordering this charger, all the advertisements mentioned it's able to charge NiCad, NiMH, and Li-Ion, but the manual that came with the unit only mentions NiCad and Li-Ion...nothing about NiMH. Can anyone assure me NiMH types can be used on this charger? Thanks

For transcription purposes: I've had several of my clients asking for MP3's time code to closely match the camera(s) time code for easier notes. I don't need a perfect synch, just something I can manually set within seconds of the tape's TC. Any ideas? Much thanks.

One of the features I really love for the 633 is the keyboard support. My buddy is using an RII mini. Does anyone know if this is possible on the Maxx?

I'm hoping to use a wired or wireless keyboard with these Sound Devices recorders to help with track labeling and other functions that are slower to do with the OSD. Has anyone had success with a mini or foldable USB keyboard, or a Bluetooth keyboard using a dongle?

Hi guys! So this summer I’m planning on going on a trip to the Philippines where I’ll be recording a speaker there for 10 days! I’m extremely excited but also very curious about gear. So, I’m going as a one man crew, filming and recording audio at the same time. The person I’m filming will largest be holding meetings outdoors, so I’ll have to be recording him there. In the day time, I’ll be moving around a lot, and as are documentary short films, many of the situations will be “run and gun.” What I Have: have a Canon T6 DSLR and a rhode mic, however, with a budget of roughly $500 I plan on buying some gear soon. I was trying to figure out what gear I should g…

It's with equal anticipation and anxiety that I will be mic'ing four pit crew members at the Gran Prix this weekend. I have B6's, DPA 6060's, and this COS 11. I'll probably tape a hid-a-mic to the inside of the pit suit, and hope there's a t-shirt to meet it. Not sure about where I should put the body pack, where it will be best accessed. Belt clip or ? I know many of you have dealt with pit apparel before. I've not. So I'm thinking that there might be 'pass through' for cabling already built in to them? That way I can re-battery easily. I plan to use the B6's with the crisp or very crisp response caps, because they'll be under hopefully no more …

Was wondering if it's possible to link a 888(as the master) to a 788t for simutaneous recording. My 788t+CL8 is old but still very trusty. It's just that I've found in around 1 out of 4 projects of mine, I need more tracks, so am considering the most flexible option to expand my recorders. Of course I can purchase a used 788t at a cheap price. However, if a 888 can be linked to 788t, why not go for the new 8-series? My another option is Scorpio, but I'm reluctant to do so. Although $2,300 for 8 more channels is quite a bargain, it's not $230. Plus, I don't need so many tracks every day. Any suggestions?

Hi! I’m totally new to the world of audio recording, short of some cheap lav mics, I own no audio recording equipment. My knowledge on the topic is equally abysmal so any help is greatly appreciated. My goal is to record car exhaust and engine noise while driving. Currently I’m using a “double -headed” lav mic plugged into the 3.5mm jack on my canon 5d iv. The recordings with this setup have lots of distortion at high volumes and lots of wind noise at higher speeds. The ideal rig for my purposes would be mobile (battery operated) have at least 2 microphones that are capable of handling very loud exhaust noise and cost under $1000 all in. Based on my research, it loo…

Sorry if this has already been posted, but it's mighty impressive for a DIY. I'd never do it, but it's pretty sweet.
