OK, so I've been looking at Lectrosonics, and trying to decide what band works best for me. I live in between DC and Baltimore, and find work in and around both places. I've looked at the frequency chart, and also used Sennheiser's chart to see what's open and what's in use. My question isn't which band to choose, but when I choose a band, can I use frequencies that are occupied in one city, that are listed as open in another city? Provided that it's the same state I mean; for example, a set of frequencies that are listed as being used by local DC TV stations should be free and open in Baltimore, and likewise. Is that sound reasoning?

HI all, Just a heads up about this combination. We had two incidents of HMs getting very hot after loading up with Envelop Pros. The batteries were showing their age by getting a bit ratty in the plastic /foil wrap department. When loaded in without paying much attention to the condition, we found the TX to get incredibly hot in a very short time. Some kind of short? possibly caused by the plastic foil/covering on the batteries contacting something they shouldn't. Or maybe it was a worn-off section. At any rate we now have a good look at the batteries as they go in, went back to the Imedions, which seem to have a better wrap on them. Anyone else encountered th…

Does anyone have any tips for mounting an HS2 to the talents foreheads? A friend was talking about some sort of head band that he had used in the past. Ideally I want to mount the mic to the forehead rather than round the side of the face. Cheers, Nick

http://www.rfstreet.com/product_info.php?products_id=850 This is a passive antenna offered for DVB-T systems in VHF and UHF spectra. Claims 28 dbi! Might order two of these with the offered optional SMA connectors to put on a Lectro SR instead of the whips, just out of curiosity. If nothing else, raising the antenna above head level will surely improve reception when there are a lot of physical barriers (such as people) between Rx and Tx. Also thinking of placing these on the roof of a follow car. Of course there are more professional and tested options (as plentily discussed here before) but why not try this one out? It's dirt cheap. Wondering if there could be…

Hi Finally I got around to test my RF Multi SMA, that was lying around for over 6 Month now. At first, I was impressed. I was on a shoot in Alexandria Sydney, and got an almost perfect scan. I hooked it up to a PSC LPDA, and a Lectro SNA600. The noise floor went up a good bit, I had to adjust the squelsh on my receivers (test run without pilot tone). When the boom op walked off the LPDA, the receiver seamlessly switched to the SNA600, and 40 meters away not a single RF hit. At first it worked perfectly, but after maybe 30-45 minutes it started to introduce a static noise (example attached). I had 4 wireless mics deployed: 1: 596.4MHz 2: 597.5MHz 3: 599.4…

Hi, Do any of you work with two (or even more) BST 75-216 Transmitters? do you use the same antenna for both? (let's say the sna600 with the miracle whip) or do you use antenna for every transmitter? Thank you, Axel.

Any usefull hints or things you wished you ordered as a customization for your order? I am adding threaded attachment points for antennas. Are you happy with the quality of protgears bag? What harness is the best one for a small bag? Ktek or protogears own harness?

I did a shoot over the weekend and I had a ghostly little bug with my 302. We shot all day from early morning to night at an old resort. I lost count of how many different scenes we shot in different locations around the facility. Anyhow, during the day we shot a scene beside the pool. I had hidden lavs on the two subjects and my boom in the third channel. The sun was darting in and out of the clouds, and after setting up the shot we had to wait several minutes for the sun to reappear to shoot the takes. As we waited for the sun, I momentarily lost control of the monitoring in my 302. I usually monitor the Return when shooting, and toggle between Mono, Stereo, Return,…

Hi, I want to connect to input 3 and 4 of my 788T and routing these to tracks A and B. I want to record the discrete mid and sided tracks and create the matrix in post-production with Adobe Audition CS6 and a plugin. It is a good idea or should I do the matrix using the functions of the 788T? About phantom power, I have to turn on both inputs or is enough one of them? Thank you. Sergio.

Hi all, Does anyone have any information/advice in regards to using/taking audio equipment into this country? I'm heading over to S.E Asia in April for a holiday and usually make a bunch of recordings whereever I go. I'll be with a friend for a week or so in Burma and she raised a couple of reasonable concerns about me carrying my equipment (eg. association with Journalism). I'll just have an M-S rig with a 702 and perhaps an H4N Zoom recorder with me. Cheers, Craig

Curious to know if anyone has found a good light weight solution for a case with a belt clip for urx100s? I am trying to come up with an elegant solution so when handing to directors and clients. Right now it is slightly bulky in repurposed erx cases and it ifeels like handing a walkie.

Has anyone tried out these Laizeske Field Monitors? They are really well priced and have some great features such as all aluminum construction, BNC inputs and a 4pin XLR for power. They also come with a sunshade and a U Mounting Bracket. It it seems that only B&H is carrying them for now and they seem to not stock them. Wanted to to see if anyone has tried them and to see if the quality is somewhat decent, IE will they hold up in the field. They make a 2 and 3 screen rack mount as well as single screen up to 24” I think. I’m eyeing a 10” or 13” to do a quad monitor setup on the cart. www.laizeske.com

Hi Guys, Has anyone experienced any issues with a CMIT into a Lectrosonics HM? I used a friends CMIT for a film a couple of years ago and loved it. I finally bought my own one but can't get it to play with my HM plug on. There is no level out of it until I set the TX to 55 (max) and then its terrible and unusable, with hiss and noise. It works fine cabled into my recorder. Is there some grounding issue here? My friends CMIT worked fine with the same transmitter. Any help would be appreciated. Trev

I was filming at Manchester City's new training ground the other day, and in their press conference room (more like a small cinema really), in place of the usual lectern mics they'd installed quite a few of these. http://europe.beyerdynamic.com/shop/mpr-210-b-1.html I just wondered if anyone here had used them and if so, what they thought of them? I have a feeling that I could make use of one now and again.

I was hoping to run my Fusion at 96kHz for some ambience recording. I've spoken to Glenn about this a while ago (about running the machine at 192kHz), but I'm stumped - the machine is totally unresponsive. I've: Removed all output routing Removed all input delays Turned off all fader assignments Only assigned the input mix I need (3 inputs) Inserted freshly formatted primary and mirror cards (133x) Turned off all Mix 12 support and Zaxnet functions Tried with no mirroring and normal mirroring modes and the machine still lags and barely records or stops. Can anyone shed some light? Another call will be made to Zaxcom on Monday, but am ho…

So, I'm using a Tascam HD-P2 as my main stereo recorder for the moment. I've discovered this little strangeness in its behavior. When plugged into my mixer and running its headphone out back into my mixer's return, no problems. When the unit is unplugged from the mixer and on its own, it won't recognize the CF card. Tried it with four different cards, and when its standing alone, it sometimes finds the card, but mostly not. When the whole system is wired up, it has no problems. Has anyone else seen this behavior from the HD-P2?

I currently have the DCHT/DCHR combo and use them as a camera hop. I have an upcoming shoot and an additional wire is needed. I thought of the DCHT/DCHR combo but realize it isn't ta5 in. What have you done cable wise to make it a talent lav? Re solder a ta6 onto an existing law, have a ta6 to ta5 wye so 2 lavs can be sent to the DCHT? Any ideas/ insights are welcomed! Thanks
