I need a couple of short 2 or 4 track DEVA Files that were mirrored using the latest firmware that supports iXML. The files can be 5 to 10 seconds long. I would like to have files that have a Note, & or tracks named in the Deva. I am working on examining all the different meta-data flavors on all the recorders. Howy has not posted any sample files that contain an iXML chunk. ----Courtney

I 'hear' your father will be in the Vancouver area very soon to shoot a show about the wto riots in seattle. I hope he finds vancouver to be a great place. Unfortuneately the rainy season has started and it should be quite wet in the near future. Anyway I was kinda hoping to get on that show but it looks like its not meant to be, there are some great names attached to the show and it looks to be a very interesting shoot. All my best, Graham Timmer

Not exactly a sound issue but the special effects coordinator on our show didn't come to work friday because he fell asleep at the wheel thursday and totalled his new F250 truck. The police said if it wasn't for the size of his truck and the airbags he wouldn't have made it. The Producer, who up to this point has been a very unpleasant person to the whole crew has offered free rooms to any crew who have a long drive home. I can't remember the # of stories like this I have heard over the years. Feel free to add yours. I'm sure there are many more.

Jeff, Would it be a good idea to have a section where people could talk about their work (challenges, approach to problemss, use of gear, etc.) on shows that are currently in production? There is a site on cinematography that has this kind of section. Contributions come from members of the ASC working on feature films to people making television commercials and music videos to cinematographers working on low-budget shorts. On the site that I am thinking about, stills are often posted to explain lighting setups, etc. The same could be done for sound clips. Any point in doing this for sound? As an aside, given your post about Don Coufall's lecture, could it…

I think you've added a Quicktime movie to the page10.htm page on this discussion group. I've got 2 Macs and they both choked on the movie, and I had to go to your personal site...then navigate to the discussion group in order to get here. It was like a Quicktime road block. Might want to put it in a separate window or something. Hope to see you at NAB this year. I think I'm actually going to make it. PWP

I would like to see discussion between JW, the people who run filmsound.org and the people who run transom.org about some kind of informal relationship between the sites. Cheers.

Jeff, You mentioned that you were about to start a show. It will be interesting to see how things function on your site while you are busy earning a living. I think that things can run on their own, but your frequent input will be missed, but understood by folks like myself who frequent your forum. David Terry

Why is it that this forum is generally very smart about making my typing into normal looking paragraphs, and others (RAMPS) will often break the lines up in odd places no matter how much I edit the post? (Not to mention Yahoo, where you can't preview at all.) I think you mentioned that the software you chose for this forum seemed like the best to you--it certainly seems to work better in regards to line breaks. Philip Perkins

Hey Jeff--I'm still getting the posts in reverse order. Tonight on the "what's the most important piece of gear" thread your original post was @ the bottom of p3, and Palmer's most recent one was @ the top of p1. Is there a setting I changed that is causing this? thanks Philip Perkins

Hi Jeff, I am curious about your reasons for starting a new sound discussion group when there is RAMPS, CAS forum and the Recording Arts Forum. Are you allowing your "enemies" jand people know for flaming to join? Will you still post on RAMPS in the future now that you have your discussion group? I joined up as I have followed your comments on RAMPS and have found them to be very informative. I hope this group works out well for you. Mike Borlace
