Jeff, Just want to say am digging the Tapatalk support. The app seems to work well, accessing the recent posts as well as the various topics works well. Cheers, Michael Boom operators, never has the phrase walk softly and carry a big stick been more apt.

Any way to make that happen? When an individual is blocked, their words don't appear in the thread, but there's a place holder with the name and the capacity to show the post if I wish. Good. Still, all the words arrive in emails of threads I follow, and it would be nice if I could opt out of that. Thanks a lot, Jeff, for all you do for the sound community. -- Jan

Jeff: I don't seem able to successfully attach an image. I'm trying to upload a JPEG image, 263 KB, of a graph. When I attach and hit "Post" I see a navigation message (bottom line in the Firefox window) about "contacting JW Sound" and then a blank page loads. The whole post becomes lost. Any thoughts? Do I need to avoid any particular characters in the file name? David

I try to check daily on this board, and often I'm really interested in the trends of what's posted chronologically so I always check the recent posts list. Is there any way to list more on this list? Maybe last 50 posts or something? Dan Izen

Is anyone else who is using firefox on a mac getting the "this is an attack site" warning and not able to get into the site properly? I'm using safari at the moment to get in. Cheers Michael

You might have heard this already perhaps, not sure what it means, but jwsound.net being reported as an attack site by Firefox it seems in combination with Google which it is claimed has a linkup with Firefox. This is happening for me with both Firefox on a PC and a Mac which makes me think there's more to it than just my setup? Anyway I cannot access jwsound at all with Firefox and I get a no-entry icon in my bookmarks. I'm now accessing with Safari. If it does mean something that's not just my system I hope it's not too difficult to sort out. Thanks for a great resource.

Hi Jeff, I find dividing threads up in to pages uses more time and is more inconvenient than having one long thread, not sure if any one else finds this? I often load the wrong page and have to backtrack or go forwards for example. Is there any control over threads being divided in to pages with the site setup? I find this with lots of web sites particularly when for example you are looking for something specific and have to keep re-loading essentially the same page many times. In fact I'm not sure why so many web sites are so insistent on using multiple pages? Might one long scrollable thread be possible? thanks Mick

this seems to be where we discuss the forum itself... in the old days, clicking on the user profile icon used to include, if the user permitted, displaying info like location, age, email, websites, etc. In modern times there seems to be none of this demographic info.

Here's an odd one; in another thread about wireless return with camera hops, I typed the sentence "This year, for the first time, the backups saved my a.s.s "(without the periods). After hitting preview, the sentence came out "This year, for the first time, the backups saved my beauty." I hit preview again, same result. I ended up changing the apparently offending word for "butt". I tried again with this post; a.s.s comes out beauty. Is this some programmer's quirky signature?

Hi Jeff Helen Finimore the Assistant producer on a program I've worked on has asked me to continue recomending sound recordists based around the world for a series of two day shoots filming an english language program. "Our next stop is New York, Ottawa, Bahamas and Los Angeles (if you have any local sound contacts, would love to hear from you! Will also be looking for a local cameraman in LA)" Would you have any suggestions. I'm reluctant to open this up to all comers and receive alot of emails as it is important to me that whoever I can suggest will be suitable and helpful too. I trust your judgement of course. It's a bag rig job into an ex3 with their…

Last week my girl and I spent a week on Fire Island. It was an awesome time, chilling comfortably on the beach while the rest of New York was sweating it out in the heat wave. Our mobile phones barely got any signal at all on the island, so it was a week free of the usual distractions. Instead of texts, voice mails, emails, and Facebook alerts, we got to relax, swim, and read books. At night in our rented room we did have satellite TV, which received about 9 stations. One night we popped on the TV after making dinner, and the film 9 to 5 was just starting on the Fox movie channel. My girlfriend hadn't seen it before, so we watched the whole thing. I was aware that you…

Hey Jeff, First off, thanks for all of your hard work keeping JW Sound up and running. It is simply the best resource for the sound community EVER. I recently watched one of my old favorites, Strange Days, and I saw that you were the mixer on it. Knowing much more about sound now then when I first saw it (when I was 13), it seems like this must have been an extraordinarily difficult job. I was wondering if you could share some stories about some of the unique problems you must have had and what your solutions were. Specifically, I was wondering how you were able to get clean sound on some the POV sequences. Thanks!

Jeff, I can't seem to find the spell check option anymore... It used to be quite handy for those who don't speak english as their first language, like myself. Am I doing something wrong? Gabi

Hi Jeff, A little while ago the default page layout for the 'Main Board' view changed. Whereas in the past I was able to see all subforums, and whether there was a new post (indicated by a coloured file), now I can only see the latest posts listed. Is there a way to change back to the old view/layout, or is this a change across the board? Cheers, Jason

Just spent the last 4 days in and out of reading this forum. Net-net: humbled and grateful. What an amazing resource and community. Stuck for years with the RAMPS-monster, but rarely posting because of the atmosphere there. How refreshing. Cannot begin to say how happy this makes me. Jan

This could easily be an error on my part, but I can't seem to find any way to access threads that come up when I do a search. I'm trying to find threads created regarding equipment insurance and although numerous threads are listed as results, the only link available is to the section the original thread was in such as General Discussion Technical Reference, etc. I use to be able to click on a link that would take me to the specific thread. Am I missing something?

Hi Jeff, I wandered into Cinema Sound with the intention of moving my registration to the new site. I was filling out the registration and came quickly to the section asking for my birthday. I supplied the month but declined to enter the day or year. Recent news reports recommend omitting a complete birthday from networking sites as this information can be used in identity thefts. Anyway, I am not able to progress in your registration program without supplying this information. David Waelder

at the risk of offending: " There's a big difference with your post -- it could actually be helpful to someone " I take offense! taking the advice I frequently have dispensed should be and would be helpful to getting the questions answered quickly and correctly.

Jeff, Not sure how much effort it might take, but I have been reading about an iphone theme for SMF2.0. If it's possible this would be a great way of accessing the group. Completely understandable if you don't want to mess with the forums on this kind of level. You can read more about it at http://www.farfromperfection.com/smf4iphone.html This specific mod appears to be no longer in development but should work with the current version of the group. this is the SMF discussion on the topic where they discuss and have modified versions of the above mod to continue functioning. Hi Jeff, I guess you have to manually set your group to standard time. I noticed my post still reflected the "old" time; if there is such a thing? Regards, RL
