The 'View New Content' section for me is no longer working. Can you confirm that it's working or not?

I have a tendency to make one or two edits to most things I post, usually to re-word something or to add onto the post. Recently, I edited this recent post in the Zoom F8n topic probably six times as I found more and more things to put in it, and part of me felt guilty thinking I might break something on the site as a result, or that you (Mr. Wexler) might have a flood of notifications about it. I figured I should make sure: Does repeatedly editing a post pose any harm to the site or be a nuisance for you or Laurence (or anyone else for that matter)?

Hi Jeff, I've been experiencing a strange phenomenon with photos when I upload them into posts... they all come in upside-down. They sit on my desktop and in iPhoto properly oriented, but lately, every photo I've tried to upload will initially come in upside-down. I rotate it on my desktop, re-import it, and it's upside-down again... I then rotate it back to its original position, re-import again, and it's fine... I can't seem to figure out any kind of rhyme or reason to it except that there is possibly some kind of embedded metadata that makes the upload engine re-orient the photo based on what it thinks is the top? Any ideas? ~tom taylor

Hi Jeff, I wandered into Cinema Sound with the intention of moving my registration to the new site. I was filling out the registration and came quickly to the section asking for my birthday. I supplied the month but declined to enter the day or year. Recent news reports recommend omitting a complete birthday from networking sites as this information can be used in identity thefts. Anyway, I am not able to progress in your registration program without supplying this information. David Waelder

"Unread Content" seems to turn up increasing amount of stuff previously marked as read

Hi Jeff, So since the update last week, when I select "Mark site read," everything appears to be marked as read. Cool. But when I return to the site, some previously marked read topics show up when I select "Unread Content." And it seems like over the last day or so, an increasing number of read or marked-as-read topics show up when I select "Unread Content." Like just now something like a dozen topics from yesterday show up... Is there a setting change I need to make? Is there something else going on? Thanks!

I'd like to be able to get rid of some old threads that appear in the "my content" section. Is this possible?

I was just about to post another reply to the lively thread about Poor Rado's difficulties getting his new toy into service. I agree with what you said about it not really being appropriate, especially as Rado seems prone to issues, and is also intent on not dealing directly with his dealer or the manufacturer, (remember his issues when he bought his Wireless, or his DPA Lav's ??) and many of his concerns seem to end up being operator errors, However, the thread did have some useful value, including the idea that including an approved media with products that record to media would be a good investment for the manufacturers... I think that the replies were bringi…

Good you upgraded, I feel speed is indeed improved. Though it seems all photos are not coming along with the server move. Maybe it's just me, I use tapatalk by the way.

Jeff, I made a tongue in cheek comment on the shortage of clowns item which seems to have dissapeared. Has it been moderated if so and I have offended anyone I aplogise wholeheartedly. Malcolm Davies AMPS. CAS.

For some reason I cannot reply to any threads inside the "Who Am I Today" section of the forum. I wanted to reply to the "Who Am I" thread, but I can't. There is no option to reply anywhere on the page. I seem to be able to create a new thread, but not reply to an existing one. I can see the reply box on any thread in any other section of the forum. Is this deliberate? It seems as though NONE of the threads in the Who Am I section have been replied to in months, only new threads have been created with no replies. Any thoughts?

Hi Jeff, I find dividing threads up in to pages uses more time and is more inconvenient than having one long thread, not sure if any one else finds this? I often load the wrong page and have to backtrack or go forwards for example. Is there any control over threads being divided in to pages with the site setup? I find this with lots of web sites particularly when for example you are looking for something specific and have to keep re-loading essentially the same page many times. In fact I'm not sure why so many web sites are so insistent on using multiple pages? Might one long scrollable thread be possible? thanks Mick

Jeff, Watching "The Family Stone" right now. Did you do any acoustic treatment while on those Interior shots?. Doesn't seem to have a lot of echo in the dialog. Can I also assume this is a Tour De Schoeps mic choice?? Thanks, Mark L

Note: Jeff here, as Administrator, I am able to EDIT posts which is what I am doing now. This post, which is basically an image since you were unable to enter text, shows up in the regular Text Editor box that I am typing in now. This is a very weird problem that seems to be affecting a few, mostly located outside the US. I will continue to try and get to the bottom of this.

This might have been a previous question, but I thought to myself "What if there was a reviews section with different makes and models and whatnot" Might be stupid, but also I could see a lot of questions being asked instantly, and also pretty interesting discussions in one collected place? Perhaps the go-to guide for anyone in our field searching for comprehensive reviews. Just a thought.. Cheers!

Greetings Jeff, Have you ever looked into providing 'closed' areas? It would seem logical that in order to have most mixers talk opening about clients, that we need some sort of protection from retribution. There have been cases where a mixer has talked frankly about his experience on a set, only to find that a client did a search from goggle, located the thread, logged in and responded... This of course shuts down any more chat about the subject, and makes everyone look really bad.. Wouldn't it be nice to have an area where you can go share your experiences, without the fear? I know that the job, of verifying mixers to make sure they are mixers would make more w…

Hi Jeff, I assume that you have seen the spam mails for viagara etc n the group? Has some kind of Bot managed to join perhaps? It'd be a great shame to clutter things up with that junk? Is there anything I or we could do to help out? Kindest regards, Simon B

Hi, Aologies if this has been brought up already. I've noticed this error message whenever I click on "View New Content" as a guest. [#10146] You do not have permission to use the search system. It only happens when I'm not logged in. The function works fine when I'm logged in. Its the same on 3 different computers and my iphone also. Sometimes, especially on my iphone, I dont always like to log in if I'm just having a quick check in of the forum. I find it quite painful logging in on my phone so I mostly browse as a guest on my phone. Has something changed? Can I use "View New Content" without logging in? Regards, Peter Mega

Hey Jeff--I'm still getting the posts in reverse order. Tonight on the "what's the most important piece of gear" thread your original post was @ the bottom of p3, and Palmer's most recent one was @ the top of p1. Is there a setting I changed that is causing this? thanks Philip Perkins

Often when I (in Sydney Australia) am looking at the main board & the latest posts with their posted time beside them. I often wonder what the current time is for Jeff Wexler Discussion Group central. Its a curious little infatuation with the knowledge of this aspect, that I have developed. Would it be difficult (or is anyone else interested) in this eventuating??? RS

Hello Mr. Wexler, Considering forums, do you know if direct quotes from this forum can be printed without having to seek the request of the writer? This is considering using in a commercial sense. Do magazines like sound & picture for example ever quote subjects and writings from this forum? and is it legal to do so? and what considerations do you know must be taken into account to have it be legal... Thanks much! Tim
