I am trying to determine the causes of many reports of "Sync Issues" associated with Time Code from various Production Recording Machines. In order to establish a baseline for calculations used by the various manufacturers I need to assemble a collection of Broadcast Wav Files from the different machines that all have a common known Time Code. I have already collected files from Sound Devices 700 series and Fostex DV824 I need test files from DEVA IV and V Tascam HD-P2 And Aaton Cantar. Also the Fostex PD6 and DV40 Also Test files from Pro-Tools 7.xx and Nuendo would also be appreciated. The files need to adhere to the following specs. 1 or 2 Channels Po…

This is a quote from post #6 in this thread: http://jwsoundgroup.net/index.php?/topic/28968-super-cmit-and-wireless-phase-issues/ So Jeff, what's up with that? User error, someone logging in as another user, someone with superuser/admin access run amok, an IPS bug? Anything we or you can do to avoid this sort of thing in the future? Or do I need (even more additional) enlightenment about something?

Hi, I've had a problem since a couple of month. When i try to log in it always says that my password is incorrect (although i know it's correct) and the only way to log in is to ask for a new password by clicking "forgot your password". I've tried to log out and log back in just after resetting my password but it doesn't work. I have to ask for a new one again. Is it a known problem and is there a fix? Thanks a lot and thanks for keeping this super useful forum running! Ben

Hi, I wanted to post in the want to buy/for sale forum. I understand it requires 5 previous posts and I thought I had done that (content count says 5). I'm hoping to buy a used Splitmon3. Thanks!

For some reason I cannot reply to any threads inside the "Who Am I Today" section of the forum. I wanted to reply to the "Who Am I" thread, but I can't. There is no option to reply anywhere on the page. I seem to be able to create a new thread, but not reply to an existing one. I can see the reply box on any thread in any other section of the forum. Is this deliberate? It seems as though NONE of the threads in the Who Am I section have been replied to in months, only new threads have been created with no replies. Any thoughts?

My default time zone has been extremely off for as long as I can remember, which makes being able to determine when a post I am reading was written very difficult. I tried changing it a number of times but it stays on the same time zone. It will also not allow me to update anything else, like my web URL or other items listed.

I subscribe to one of the categories and some topics in order to get e-mail notification of new posts. For me, this is a very handy feature of the site. It would be even better if I could subscribe to a category or topic via RSS feed. Just a thought. I don't know how easy/difficult it would be to implement this, or what others think. Best

I am sure this has been addressed here before. How do you change a title of a post. Like when I see that something has SOLD in the Want to Buy section. For the life of me I can't see how to do that. I'd like to change something to SOLD once the buyer has purchased the item so I don't annoy people with my ad. Thanks.

Hey Jeff, it looks like you run both of these - I could spend my days swapping between ramps, cinema sound, jwsound, etc but I think one good forum for all sound mixers across the globe is needed. I'd like to email some of my friend sound mixers and tell them to use one to increase its awareness. What would you suggest?

Okay, I'm the FNG around here as it were, but I have a suggestion regarding moderation. It's only a suggestion, and I do know how much work is involved in moderation forums, so I won't be offended either way. Maybe you're even already doing this, but a recent thread has motivated me to give this thought. I think that people should be able to disagree on just about anything and still be able to "get along", as long as when they disagree they stick to discussing the positive value of their own opinion. When it turns to putting down the other person, or even generalizing/classing people who hold an opposing view, perhaps warnings could be issued. I understand th…

The new section has brought a new usual suspect who just joined and just posted a set of italian reference monitors and a 40 input Yamaha Mixer. I'm not sure this is the change you wanted. http://jwsoundgroup.net/index.php?/user/9339-go-chroma/ Al

This is something I've enjoyed in other forums and have wished it were here for years. When I click on a thread with unread replies, it would be great to be taken directly to there, instead of the beginning of the whole thread. I have tendinitis from a computer job in the 90s and my thumbs do not enjoy all the scrolling around at all. This would save so much of that it's silly. In fact I've gone months without logging in because of it. I realize this might be a heap of code and also that online forums are somewhat antiquated so it may not make sense to invest in this. I am not on social media so I will be here to the end, and I would love save all that scroll…

Hi Jeff, I have noticed that the clock on your forum shows that the TOD is 1:59 am but in reality it is 12:59 here in California. How can that be fixed? Thank you, Matt McGowin

Greetings Jeff, Have you ever looked into providing 'closed' areas? It would seem logical that in order to have most mixers talk opening about clients, that we need some sort of protection from retribution. There have been cases where a mixer has talked frankly about his experience on a set, only to find that a client did a search from goggle, located the thread, logged in and responded... This of course shuts down any more chat about the subject, and makes everyone look really bad.. Wouldn't it be nice to have an area where you can go share your experiences, without the fear? I know that the job, of verifying mixers to make sure they are mixers would make more w…

Hey Jeff - this morning, I got a white page saying something about cloud flare is checking to make sure the site is safe or similar, then the page went blank. Everything looks normal again this afternoon. Just wondering if it’s something that was supposed to happen because of new features you may have installed? Or should I worry that something bad may have infiltrated the site?

Dear Jeff, in the last days I frequently get an error message from a service called "CloudFlare" when trying to visit the JWS new content (which I have bookmarked). Unfortunately, it usually doesn't take a few minutes only, but rather a few hours until it works again (I guess until US morning which is late night here in Europe), so maybe there's a real problem with the server. Thought I'd give you a heads up. Sincerely, Pete Here's the last error message I got:

I think you've added a Quicktime movie to the page10.htm page on this discussion group. I've got 2 Macs and they both choked on the movie, and I had to go to your personal site...then navigate to the discussion group in order to get here. It was like a Quicktime road block. Might want to put it in a separate window or something. Hope to see you at NAB this year. I think I'm actually going to make it. PWP

First the forum colors were blue and marked "IPS" after the "brownout" this morning, now it's dark gray and a bit too large for the screen. Members pictures have gotten much larger also. How do I go back to the "IPS" blue look? Eric

I would like to see discussion between JW, the people who run filmsound.org and the people who run transom.org about some kind of informal relationship between the sites. Cheers.

Hi Jeff, I wanted to let you know that I often get logged out of the site and my password does not work to log back in. I have reset my password a couple dozen times in the pas month or so, at least. Is there a setting I am missing? I appreciate any advice. Thank you! Dave
