	I think I just posted this, but now I don't see it, so I'm posting again.<br>

</p>

<p>
	Does anyone have knowledge of payment through Automated Clearing House (ACH)?
</p>

<p>
	I did four days (including travel) for a new client.  I submitted an invoice saying “terms are net 30 days.”  The client then wanted me to sign up for ACH, which would pay me more quickly.<br>

</p>

<p>
	I asked my banker about ACH.  She counseled against it, saying it allows both deposits and withdrawals from my account (without my consent).<br>

</p>

<p>
	I declined ACH, and my client became angry, saying it would take 90 days to send a check.  So, I’m waiting for the check.

<p>
	I know, wrong group, but nevertheless...<br>
	I'm currently working on a video recorder for a MoCap studio, but perhaps it could  be handy for you guys as well.<br>
	At the moment it can:
</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		Record video from up to 8 Blackmagick devices (A cheap BM Mini Recorder is good enough for rock 'n roll.)
	</li>
	<li>
		Take sound from another device and marry it to the video on the fly. (So no need for SDI audio embedders.)
	</li>
	<li>
		Take LTC from another device or UDP for accurate TC.
	</li>
	<li>
		Apply some effects (currently flip / rotate as I work for MoCap, but I could add LUT's or alike.)
	</li>
	<li>
		Record in 'any' codec (It's FFmpeg based), including HEVC. H264 / ProRes / HEVC have build in presets, but you can make your own easilly.
	</li>
	<li>
		Display incoming video not only local, but on any computer on the network (Over UDP, sorta kinda NDI style)
	</li>
	<li>
		Easy custom or auto set file names
	</li>
	<li>
		Instant playback of recorded clips
	</li>
</ul>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It's Mac only at the moment.
</p>

<p>
	A simple half decent Mac Mini or Macbook Pro can do two HD streams without an issue.
</p>

<p>
	(Probably more, but how to connect more than two BM devices? They don't have a daisy chain option...)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	For logging by scriptboys / girls, have a look at my LiveLog app.
</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://www.videotoolshed.com/product/livelog/" rel="external nofollow">Link to LiveLog</a>
</p>

<p>
	If needed, I'll integrate it. (Giving you XMP / ALE / Database metadata.)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If you are interested, tell me what you want and I'll try to implement it if it's not already there.<br>
	If you want to toy with it, let me know.<br>

	Started watching this doc and quickly noticed it is very sound driven over lots of repurposed video footage. Has anyone come across sound clips of some of this original footage to help give a good before and after comparison regarding the forensic cleanup? The cleanup of both video and audio seems to be very state of the art. Cant wait for the 16hr directors cut

	Vanessa Withers, Jeff Wexler's daughter—<br>
	56m<br>
	  ·<br>
	In Loving Memory of Jeff Wexler (1947 - 2025)<br>
	Yesterday, our dad, Jeff Wexler, passed away at his home in Santa Monica after years of struggling with chronic kidney disease. He was 78. Losing him is overwhelming, even though we knew his body had been fighting for a long time.<br>
	Our dad was kind in a way that felt effortless, generous in a way that asked for nothing back, and endlessly curious about the world. What meant the most to him was his family. He was a source of unwavering support, encouragement, and love, always present for us regardless of his professional commitments.<br>
	He also had a life in cinema that shaped who he was. He grew up around film sets as the son of Haskell Wexler, but he carved out his own path. He once thought he would become a sociology teacher, until a summer job on Harold and Maude showed him exactly where he belonged: right there on set, actively listening, creatively contributing, paying attention in the way only he could.<br>
	Over the next five decades he became one of the great production sound mixers, working on more than seventy films. His credits include Coming Home, Fight Club, Almost Famous, The Last Samurai, Jerry Maguire, As Good As It Gets and so many others. He cared deeply about his craft and was always pushing it forward. He helped usher in new recording technologies long before they became standard. He mentored younger sound people. He loved problem-solving. He loved being part of something bigger than himself. <br>
	But the main thing we want people to know is that he was a great dad. Someone who showed up for us. A man of quiet integrity, whose deep and comprehensive exploration of the human condition was evident in all he did. He loved film for its ability to connect people.<br>
	Our stepmom, Carol, passed away earlier this year, and even though losing them both so close together feels surreal, we are grateful they are at peace. We know our dad will be missed far beyond our family. The film community loved him, learned from him, and was inspired by him. We were fortunate to have him as a father, and despite his physical absence, he remains with us always.<br>
	With love, Vanessa and David

	I searched this site for this topic and found nothing.  A couple of questions.<br>
	<br>
	One, does anyone ever advise news correspondents, interview subjects, or anyone you've miked, to enunciate clearly?  Some people have a tendency to jumble words, which of course makes it hard for audiences to understand what they are saying.<br>
	<br>
	Also, is it just me, or does it seem like jumbled speech is becoming more common, especially regarding interview subjects?

	I loved Tom Lehrer! My mother bought the first record, I played it over and over again, I think I learned all the words at age 5 or 6! The only one I had trouble with was The Elements  --  I could never really get all the way through that one. Many, many years later in High School I tried to sing the Elements but in the proper order of the Periodic Table of Elements  --- could not do it because of course Tom sang them in his own order for the song. Still love it to this day (as I love Gilbert and Sullivan music also).

	I had not been in contact with Don for years, very sad to hear of his passing. On Facebook, of course, again continuing my love-hate with Facebook. Don was very much in the Hal Ashby group, I did a number of movies with him besides the Hal Ashby movies, he was a pleasure to work with, so mutually supportive and a real team player.  When he asked me if I would do the sequel to Saturday Night Fever I of course said yes, I would love work with him again. He said the Director was Sly Stone ("Saturday Night Fever II - Everyday People" ?). It wasn't until my first pre-production meeting that I realized it was Sly STALLONE, not Sly Stone! I did the movie and it was a kind  of a wild ride, Stallone never seemed comfortable directing. He was very competitive regarding another movie being made at the same time but he was very sure he had a winner with his movie, He called the other movie "Flushdance".

<p>Just reading in a Facebook post by Steve Maslow that Mike Kohut has passed away.</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
Here is a part of an interview by Mel Lambert with Mike published several years ago.</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
<span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="font-size:14px">Michael Kohut, during his more than 30+ years with the various entities that now comprise the Sony Pictures Studios' post-production complex in Culver City, CA, has done just about everything involved with sound for the movies. Starting in 1965 as a production-sound cable man with MGM, Kohut has worked consistently within the facility, remaining through its various transfers in ownership. During three decades he advanced to lead re-recording mixer, with over 50 credits, including "Basic Instinct," "The Prince of Tides," "War Of The Roses," "Dead Poets Society," "Rocky IV," "The Presidio," "Throw Mama From The Train," "The Sicilian," "Year Of The Dragon," "Old Gringo," "Crimes Of The Heart," "Annie," and "The Good-bye Girl."</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="font-size:14px">
		He is a seven-time Academy Award nominee for Best Achievement in Sound with such films as "Total Recall," "Robocop," "2010," "Meteor," "War Games," "Fame" and "Pennies From Heaven," and an Emmy nominee for Best Sound for "Roe versus Wade." He also holds two British Academy Awards for his work on "War Games" and "Fame."</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="font-size:14px">
		Currently Executive VP of Post Production Facilities at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Kohut is responsible for a number of departments, including electronic digital sound prelay, digital picture editorial, and motion-picture sound editorial departments. In addition to these responsibilities, Kohut is also the inventor of the eight-channel SDDS (Sony Dynamic Digital Sound) playback format. He is also Managing Director and a member of the board of directors for Sony Cinema Products Corporation, and is the newly named president of Sony Pictures Advanced Digital Systems, an R&amp;D group that will be developing new technologies for the motion picture and exhibition industries, including a new design of hard-disk recorder/player.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="font-size:14px">
		Early 1996 saw the unveiling of what many consider to be the jewel in Kohut's crown: a new post-production area. Stage Three and Stage Five, which features a Sitcom Re-recording Room, an ADR Suite, a Foley Suite, plus two, state-of-the-art Re-recording Theaters equipped with 244-input/72-buss GLW-Harrison MPC-1 digitally-controlled analog consoles. And in March, this busy executive will receive the much coveted Cinema Audio Society's Career Achievement Award, at its 32nd Annual Awards Banquet. CAS Awards recognize outstanding achievement in sound mixing in films and television.</span></span></p>

<p>The Las Vegas audio community suffered a great loss today with the passing of Paul Hoggatt.</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
Among other things, Paul was the ringside lead A2 for HBO Boxing for over 30 years. He never had anything but a kind word or some helpful advice for anybody who was wise enough to listen. His devotion to his work and his friends was legendary and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.</p>
