From Variety: 'Nailed' shuts down production again Union quarrels linger on Biel, Gyllenhaal film By DAVE MCNARY Production of "Nailed," starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal, has been shut down for a second time due to financial problems as below-the-line crews refused to work Thursday. Sad news. Carl Countryman of Countryman microphones passed away on October 26, 2006 of a sudden heart attack. He was a good friend and an industry innovator with his B6 lav mic to name just one of his many accomplishments. He will be missed. Eric

Dear friends, As most of you know, our dear friend Bob Gravenor moved to Spain last year after being a sound mixer in Los Angeles for many years. Bob has worked on many features since the 70's and on commericals for the last 15 or 20 years, which is where I had the good fortune to meet him. He has also served as president of IATSE Local 695, which is the sound and video local, and was on the board of directors of CAS. As you all know, Bob is a kind man and loving friend. Three weeks ago, Bob suffered massive liver failure and was rushed by ambulance to a hospital in Valencia, Spain.  His son, Misha, quickly flew to Spain to be with him.  Bob was going in and …

There was an error in the credit listings for "Rush Hour 3" in that, my name was mistakenly placed with Jeff Wexler's under Production Sound Mixer for the main unit. With help from Bob Maxfield and a thumbs-up from Jeff, I wound up mixing three days on a "Stunt/Additional Photog. Unit"; Very exciting indeed, yet, it does not give any green light to say 'I did the sound for the movie'. That credit belongs to Jeff, Don Coufal, Robert Maxfield, and the support staff that assisted them in the U.S. and Europe. To be credited this way overshadows the fine work that this team consistently performs, and it's just not fair to Jeff. In our profession we all know it's nice to ha…

In case anyone wonders what happened this morning with this forum, Lunarpages had a meltdown that affected the server. Everything is back now. From Lunarpages: "Dear Customers, At 7:40am this morning, one of our air conditioning units failed in the cage at the One Wilshire building, the building's maintenance department dispatched an engineer to attend to their unit, which is now fully operational. Please forgive the double posting on this item - I wanted to make sure that this was posted under both name spellings.... On behalf of Ray Cymoszinski's Daughter: Memorial services will be held on September 17th, 2006 for former Chicago sound mixer Ray Cymoszinski, who passed away prematurely on December 25th, at his home in Los Angeles.
