Just in case anyone is in the market for VocAlign Pro or Revoice Pro, Synchro Arts are currently holding a 30% off sale on all of their products. Through 26 November, I believe.

Ford’s success with its Transit Connect commercial van has caught the attention of a formidable German competitor. Volkswagen, which still plans on being the world’s largest automaker by 2018, may consider making its mark in the U.S. commercial vehicle segment, going head to head with competitors like the Ford Transit Connect and Nissan NV200. Volkswagen Caddy rear three quarter hatch open 300x199 imageIn an interview with Reuters, VW of America President Jonathan Browning said selling commercial vehicles in the U.S. “certainly represents an opportunity,” though there are “no definitive plans at the moment.” That said, the automaker already has a sizable lineup of comm…

I was asked to do sound on a 10-day student film (feature length) and the director seemed like he had all his ducks in a row in regards to scheduling and safety in these times. In addition to everyone being required to be tested for COVID before production began (which requires 5 days for results in this area) they had a 2 page policy document that claimed crew would be required to wear a mask 100% of the time and actors would wear a mask when not in a scene. Great! Of course I get on set in a very confined space and compliance is closer to 50% with frequent offenders being the director and unit production manager who are responsible for compliance. I brought it up …

Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter says that Walt's memorial is at Forest Lawn today, Sept 6th at 12:30, but when I do a search on Forest Lawns website they have no info of it. Can someone confirm that it's still today at Forest Lawn? Thanks Andy

Having the classified section board "Want to Buy - Want to Sell" viewable by un-registered guests opens up the possibility of spam/scam responses from unknown people. Restricting viewing to only registered members limits the exposure a classified add will have. What would you like me to do? Regards, Jeff Wexler

It has come to my attention that one of our members has had some very suspicious reponses to a posting he has made offering some gear for sale. At the present time, anyone coming to the Discussion Group, even unregistered guests, are allowed to READ any post but are not allowed to post to the Group without registering. I need to know whether people would like me to restrict just the board "Want to Buy - Want to Sell" so that ONLY registered members can view these posts (and of course respond using the Group methods). If was a little smarter I might be able to put up a POLL here for members to respond. I will see what I can do. Regards, Jeff Wexler

The 918 has a mid-mounted 4.6-liter V8 that makes 608 horsepower on its own, while a trio of electric motors boost it by another 286 hp for a grand total of 887 ponies. That might be less than the LaFerrari’s 949 hp or the McLaren P1′s 903, but it’s also at least $150,000 cheaper with a sticker starting at $845,000.

So there is a mandatory water restriction in california. Heres a little something the governer should know. each person uses between 80-100 gallons a day on average. They are requiring 25% less usage. None of my business what they eat in california, but how's about putting restrictions on how much cattle is raised and slaughtered in cali. Or how many hamburgers are allowed to be eaten. 1 hamburger = 650 gallons of water. 1 pound of beef = 2500 gallons of water. Hard to believe, but totally verified. So lets say they reduce beef consumption and make that mandatory. That would be a reduction of 600% for every hamburger raised and slaughtere…

I went to the Cast & Crew screening of Cameron Crowe's "We Bought A Zoo" at Fox last night. Wonderful movie, so emotional and involving, so much a Cameron movie. It is truly a love story, not in the conventional one person falls in love with another, but a love of life and all it brings, tragedy and joy, and how we deal with it. The cast was amazing, everything worked, and as always in a Cameron movie, ever present music telling the whole story right in step with the dialog. It is a very gutsy movie to make in these times, requiring an audience that is willing to be patient, pay attention to the movie and themselves, allow the movie to touch your intellect and your he…

As many of you already know, my dear friend and fellow worker, Don Coufal, is battling cancer. Don and I have worked together for 40 years, 67 movies,I owe so much of the success of my long career to Don's amazing and creative approach to the work and his total dedication to the job —- we were a pretty incredible team! Never wanting to be the person who needs help, at this time now, Don needs our help. Don's wonderful daughters, Emma and Libby, have set up a GoFundMe account to raise some money for Don during this time that he is unable to work. Don is managing to fight the good fight and has the same positive attitude and commitment I have known through all the years we …

We had four or five "members" sign up during the night (I do need to get some sleep) from the same IP address and many illegitimate spam posts followed. I have deleted all the posts and the new members who posted them. I am going to have to go back to manually and individually approving each prospective sign up to avoid this sort of thing in the future. Captcha, security questions, profile descriptions and so forth just do not work.

I have added Chat feature to JWSOUND Here are some general tips on its use (looking at Chat Bar): 1. on off switch to the right side will Hide Chat (so you don't have to look at it at all) 2. Chat Rooms are Group Chats --- everyone online can participate in any of the Rooms available and each member can start their own Room. You can leave the Room by clicking on the open door icon. You have to LEAVE the main chat room (JWSOUNDGROUP Meeting Room) before you can start your own Chat Room. 3. Chat (nn) is the general chat --- clicking on a member starts a chat with that member General Note: Clicking on any of the headers in the bar will …

I have been working for the last few months to find an alternative to this SMF site for our group. I now know what we're going to do. I have a new site, new software platform, new server, a few new features and functions, lots of exciting things. The transition will be as seamless and easy as I can make it. Rest assured, this site will still continue to function as always (with a a few intermittent down times during the transition) but will at some future date live on as a READ only archive. There are three possibilities for how this transition/conversion will take place and I don't know yet which way it will go. The ideal will be that you go to the new site (a complet…
