So there is a mandatory water restriction in california. Heres a little something the governer should know. each person uses between 80-100 gallons a day on average. They are requiring 25% less usage. None of my business what they eat in california, but how's about putting restrictions on how much cattle is raised and slaughtered in cali. Or how many hamburgers are allowed to be eaten. 1 hamburger = 650 gallons of water. 1 pound of beef = 2500 gallons of water. Hard to believe, but totally verified. So lets say they reduce beef consumption and make that mandatory. That would be a reduction of 600% for every hamburger raised and slaughtere…

I am a production mixer and I teach. I am literally in a conversation at this moment about pulling the plug on all student production. I'd like your thoughts about this. (I am in favor of shutting down).

http://www.slashfilm.com/interstellar-sound-issues/ “The sound mix is my favorite part of the process,” Nolan told Entertainment Weekly. “Your biggest creative decisions have been made—the shoot, the cut of the film—and you’re really in there putting the finishing touches on things or exploring different possibilities. It’s a time of pure imagination, where you can just play.” Maybe he’s just playing too much. Seeing this at TCL Imax tomorrow, hoping that this is just a tech issue. Anybody on this board have a hand in the final mix and want to shed some light on this?

Bias - the maker of Peak and Peak Pro and the noise reduction plug-in 'Sound Soup' closed shop. Peak was a well regarded audio editing software for the Mac platform. Apparently this just happened within the last couple of days. It can be confirmed by visiting the Bias website at: http://www.bias-inc.com. Which states: "BIAS, Inc. has ceased operations. We would like to thank all the BIAS customers and friends for the opportunity to have served the audio community for over 16 amazing years. The BIAS Authorization Manager Server is functioning for authorizing and de-authorizing BIAS products at this time."

Anybody getting injured? I've been in chronic pain for awhile now in my right shoulder and back. A Physical Therapist friend finally helped diagnose some shoulder blade discomfort to an issue with my neck and a Chiropracter has helped out with that a bit but the shoulder problem is lingering(I got ice on it now, as per the physical therapists instructions but I'm pretty sure I've been working with "injuries" for a long time now and it's been affecting my performance "at work". ...anyone else out there working injured? I found a good clay based ice pack at cvs for 14.99 but other than that, not sure what I should really be doing. I have freelancers insurance …

Hey guys! I need your advice please, I'm looking for a new headphones. The Sony 7506 are strong but sounds "so so", the Sennheiser HD25 is much better but I know, sooner or later, I will have the "famous disconnections". Which one do you use? Any other brand is welcome.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind giving me a hand with something... I am studying an Audio Post Production module at university and I have a piece of work coming soon where I have to take five minutes of a film and re-do it all (Score, sound effects and dialogue). I have decided to do a scene from an old martial arts film. Here lies my problem though. To make it authentic I want to produce the sound effects the way they did. However, finding anything on this has proven extremely difficult. The sound effects I am trying to discover more about are: A powerful punch on bare skin A quick snap punch or kick Bone brake. …

Sincere condolences, USA. If you're looking for places to emigrate to, we still have a decent infrastructure here in Germany for receiving a good number of refugees. Why not spend the next four years abroad and then go back to rebuild?

My son David's closest friend has died at age 22. Austin Peralta "OCTOBER 25, 1990 – NOVEMBER 21, 2012 Austin Peralta, a prodigious, barely 22-year-old pianist celebrated for uniting jazz with instrumental hip-hop and electronica, died Wednesday. While no official reports have yet surfaced, and no cause of death has yet been stated, word of Peralta’s shocking death began spreading virally late Wednesday. The son of skateboarder and film director Stacey Peralta, the Los Angeles-raised musician began piano lessons at the age of six, and later studied with pianist Alan Pasqua. At the age of 15 in 2006, he played the Tokyo Jazz Festival. Peralta re…

The Las Vegas audio community suffered a great loss today with the passing of Paul Hoggatt. Among other things, Paul was the ringside lead A2 for HBO Boxing for over 30 years. He never had anything but a kind word or some helpful advice for anybody who was wise enough to listen. His devotion to his work and his friends was legendary and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
