Looks like I'll be in Toronto 9/13-14 for the screening of "Rabbit Hole". I'm intensely interested to hear what they did with the sound since we were (because of weather pattern) 90% of the time, directly on the LaGuardia flight path. Have had good reports from the sound editor, producer and director, so I'm not 'concerned' but rather, curious, for future reference. Anybody want to get together for a drink after the 9p screening on the 13th, or breakfast on the 14th? Booked a room @ Comfort Hotel Downtown 15 Charles Street East Toronto, ON M4Y 1S1, Canada -- Jan

The studio confirmed the move and released this statement: "Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment ceased pre-production of Cartel today. As much as we had hoped to begin filming this spring in Mexico City, the studio and its producing partners did not feel it was creatively ready to move forward under the timetable and budget we had established. We thank all of the filmmakers, cast and crew for their work during pre-production." http://www.deadline.com/2010/04/universal-cancels-josh-brolin-drama-cartel-five-weeks-before-production-start/

As reported in the L.A. Times: In a cost-savings move, Walt Disney Studios is shutting down director and producer Robert Zemeckis' ImageMovers Digital studio in Marin County, which employs 450 people. Those employees will be phased out over the course of the year until the facility closes by January 2011. Given today's economic realities, we need to find alternative ways to bring creative content to audiences and IMD no longer fits into our business model," Disney Studios President Alan Bergman said in a statement. Ever since ousting Disney Studios Chairman Dick Cook and overhauling the movie operation under his successor, Rich Ross, the Burbank studio has …

Now the governor-elect, Republican Rick Snyder, wants to curb the largesse. A state agency found the price of the program …

What are your thoughts on these proposals? Personally, I'm not a fan of "French Hours" because I feel it gets abused and all departments end up with different length meal-breaks. But I sure as heck wish a 40hr work week was a living wage for all crew members and I'm sure we all have had stress due to lack of at-home time with family, friends, and significant others. https://www.currentaffairs.org/2020/07/its-time-for-a-new-labor-movement-in-the-performing-arts?fbclid=IwAR0HliXHnBYwAvAVLdnx-j2Zpb0ryCQpdoA75Q_lKaJnPzVNiK85GJcsV3M

Rohmer was known for movies tracing the intricacies of romantic relationships. His best known pics included "My Night at Maud's" and "Claire's Knee." He had worked until recently, with his latest film, "Les amours d'Astree et de Celadon," (Romance of Astree and Celadon), appearing in 2007. You may have noticed a new tab called "MEDIA" that is a new feature here. One thing that it provides is direct pasting of embed codes (for videos from YouTube, etc.) into a message post. While composing a message, just paste the embed code and when you submit the post your video will display. The MEDIA section also provides for image albums. I have put up the famous Gallery of Sound Carts (still in progress) and members can add to this or make their own albums. One CAUTION: the "Mass upload" routine will crash Safari. The Adobe flash plug-in implementation has some problems so don't use it. Individual uploads work just fine. Once this is fixed I will let you know.

I have had to disable any and all EMAIL notification functions for this forum in an effort to solve what we believe is a spam/server problem of some sort. Personal Messages should be unaffected so you can continue to use those. I hope none of our members are inconvenienced by this --- I really don't know how many people have set their profiles up to have email notifications sent out. Once we solve this problem I will reactivate this feature. Thank you for your understanding. Best regards, Jeff Wexler

Mr. Pardo was 96; he joined NBC before I was even born! " He began his announcing career at NBC Radio as a war reporter during World War II and remained at the network his entire life.... A member of the Television Academy Hall of Fame, he and Bob Hope are the only people ever awarded a lifetime contract at NBC. He finally retired from NBC in 2004 and considered retiring from SNL too, but Michaels successfully kept him on the show until last season’s finale.
