Greetings, all My MBP has been a workhorse for many tasks, but in the last year or so has been very sluggish in the WiFi department - losing signal, etc. To my tech mind, obviously an antenna problem, but Apple support has been skirting around the issue for months. Gurus at Apple store not able to find issues with their extreme in-store wifi, advisors from Apple having me go back to Mavericks, and re install everything, no improvement. I will keep digging away, but I do find my reasonable concerns and experience in the RF world are being ignored. Is this a systemic Apple thing, or the problem with the whole tech world at this point? …

warning: a plug from an enthusiastic user! I have been using WiMAX Internet while in LAS for over a year. First there was Cricket, and then came Clear. In LAS they seem to be fighting it out in every strip mall cell phone store, and on the sides of every bus and/or taxi. What is it? It is WiFi on steroids, basically using the 4G (and 3G) cell phone networks for Internet access. Similar tp what is also available on cards from the Cell Phone companies --for a higher price and , with data limits, like "included minutes" on a cell phone, and excess charges. Cricket and Clear offer unlimited use, 24/7, for a flat fee, and the speed is excellent. Until recently there…

I've done a fresh reinstall of Win XP pro on my pc. I've reinstalled Pro Tools 8 with all the creative pack too. When I do the first load up and it loads the plug-ins for the first time it gets as far as structure and stalls. This is the first time I've done a clean install with PT8 as when I first installed PT8 I still had 7.4. I've reinstalled it and re-downloaded the installer and the same thing happens. Though if I remove the creative pack and then run Pro Tools 8 again it comes up as normal. Any thoughts? I just got my hands on the new Windows 10 and it is awful! What were they thinking? It looks VERY retro, incompatible with every single software application, incredibly sluggish and ugly as hell. I was thinking of leaving the Mac and going with Windows but after looking at this... forget about it! Wait a minute. I think it might be Windows 1.0, not 10. Missed the decimal point I guess. I might give Windows 10 a whirl when it comes out.

Hello, I have found a few cheap USB Wireless N adapters on eBay for my kids' G4 MacMini (they complain the web is too slow). Just wondering if anyone here has used one of these. Thanks, Robert

Hi I am looking for dust and rain cover for my Macbook Pro, I will be using it for sound recording in a dirty location with a lot of dust. I have a small setup so I would like to work on with the dust cover always on. I am looking for something like a little transparent tent that I can put my hands in it to control the laptop. Let me know if you can refer me to any product similar to my description. Thanks

Hi group Has anyone been using Write UDF with the Macbook, and what is this program able to do for us? I use the Macbook to print out sound reports when turning a DVD RAM disc in for dailies, and the Macbook sometimes takes a few inserts of the disc before it will recognize it.Just wondering of this program would help, and does it also make the drive able to write to DVD RAM? Regards, Jim Rillie

I know it's a topic of more interest for post people, but I am really wondering wether they will finally release the modular Mac Pro they announced long ago. I am a happy user of a 2010 Mac Pro (I replaced the processor and I installed an improved graphics card) but so far the thing is kinking ass. But anyway wondering. It's quite puzzling why they took such a long time to design a new modular computer given that it's not rocket science. Well, good desing is always rocket science but making it large and easy to upgrade is much easier than tiny, which has been their focus lately. There are two possible reasons I can imagine for such a l…

Brian Copenhagen turned me on to a to a piece of Shareware that seems to be an invaluable utility All the applications you get, especially the Universal ones , are loaded with a lot of files and information you don't need, including written compatibility with either Intel or Power PC processors and instructions, data, etc. in a host of different languages. Xslimmer weeds through all your apps and eliminates the the excess, thinning out your drives and saving disk space. It also helps you back up whatever you deem necessary, and costs $13.00 So far it has worked cleanly and effortlessly on 5 Macs. http://www.xslimmer.com/ Andy Rovins

Hi guys, on couple of our machines I need to disable mounting of external drives (USB and FireWire). I tried to unload and then delete the .kext files in System/Library but no avail ... After reboot I can still connect and see the external drives. Does anyone here have any idea what else to try? Regards Martin Jelovsek
