I am arranging a Fisher Boom demo/workshop here in Boston, and I'm in the process of putting together some paperwork. What I really need is photos of people operating these beasts. At Emerson College (my alma mater, where the class is taking place) we have a model 3 base on a model 2 arm, of which I plan to snap plenty of photos. What I'm looking for are photos of actual users. I realize I can scour the site and find photos, and I will, but I want permission first. So if you have a photo of you looking sexy on a fisher boom, and you want to be the star of some educational material, let me know and point me in the right direction. First of all, thank you to all of you for the great cart pics and ideas. I am in awe of these carts. I never thought I would be working off a cart but after countless days of slow moving corporate interviews , why not sit and relax and have some wheels to haul gear in and out of hotels and such. So, I have been working on a PSC cart. every time I use it I make changes to try and make things easier. On of my biggest problems was attaching some old light stands to use for antenna mounts. I finally used a pinless hitch pin ( you could use ones with a pin also) the ring fit perfectly around the stand, and the 1/4 inch fit the holes in the cart. I installed 2 stands…

My old mini-van has 195k on it and let me down the last time I had to leave town, so I got this one. Rent A Center turns its vans every 3 years. They are custom built by Superior Industries, the guys that make BIG trucks. The have a custom solid bulkhead and 2 rows of E-track with carpet on 3 sides. They were all over the country a few months ago after auction, and I found this 2009 on Ebay for a good price. It only had 27k miles on it. I got a shelf off my last show for free, put security screens on the windows, and bought a ramp. It's not as cool as the cube Phil Palmer used to have, but I don't own that much stuff. Here's the before and after.

Quite awhile ago Bob Marts gave me a huge collection of images of sound carts which we wanted to put up somewhere for people to be able to browse and get ideas. These are from sound mixers all over the world and there is quite as variety of carts and approaches, and quite an interesting array of equipment in use. I was somewhat reluctant to post these because neither Bob nor I have been able to identify many of the carts and their owners. I decided to put it up anyway and the easiest place to put them was on my Web Gallery. Wanted to build a new cart for several years now. I do mostly bag work and when I do a commercial or indie film I work off of a modified Rock-N-Roller. I scored a indie feature in Dec to shoot in Jan then I decided to do it- build a new cart. I really liked what Matthias Richter did -incorporating the rear axle into the case (thanks Matt for the idea). Pulled it together and have some more upgrades to do after the shoot but It works great compared to my old set up. I'm also setting it up with a JW power supply (thanks Jeff) , but for now power it with NP-1 and my pele case batts. I found this randomly and thought some of you guys and gals might find it interesting. Two what I assume are Fisher booms covering a ton of action. If you watch closely you can see on the bottom left a long shotgun aiming away covering the dancers. Fantastic real Flamenco!
