Because no bag is on the market for the Cantar X3 yet.... I designed my own. With a "little" help from professionals as 'De Herrieboerderij' aka Kees Schouten in Amsterdam witch helped me with the aluminium frame, and a my new friend Andrea Monti from The Guild of Holland, he made the leather parts. Because the AudioLTD rack3 with Rx2040's, like almost all receivers, is to high I made a little frame to hang a front bag from. This front bag, when sitting on the ground, blocks some faders/knobs/buttons. But when I carry the bag it drops 4 cm, and everything is accessible again. The two leather straps can be released quickly and all mic and line in's become accessible. Her…

I worked on a documentary / reality-ish show for four months this summer. The premise was to take ten people and get them to recreate Alexander Mackenzie's historic trip across the west. Mackenzie was the first european to cross North America by land. (ten years before Lois and Clark) The ten participants / Voyageurs would eat the same food Mackenzie and his men would have eaten back in the day (mostly Pemican, Bannock and wild rice with occasional wild game or fish) They would wear clothing authentic the era, and they paddled a twenty five foot birch bark canoe. The crew would be following there every action. the first 2 months went pretty well. We would follow them i…

Hello sound community, I am in desperate need of a good quality still image of the legendary Sony ECM-50 lavaliere for my documentary. As incredible as this may sound, I have not been able to find one decent still (big or good enough) on any of the mic sites (Coutant, Madooma, Old-Mics, etc.), or even on Google Images. Any help will be greatly appreciated and you can reply directly to my e-mail. Cheers,

Last week I was suppose to do a commercial with a very complicated walk and talk for about 25 yards inside a large warehouse. So I bid the commercial as usual including a boom operator. I explained that a well placed shotgun along with the lav should provide excellent options in post. The 2 days before the job I was told audio was cut out of the commercial. The day of the shoot I get a picture sent to me by my make up friend gotta love it. A client is spending $50,000 on a commercial and the agency won't spend $1000.00 on sound. This isn't a national commercial but it will get major air time in the South East

"Revenge For A Rape" with Mike Connors (remember "Mannix"?), shooting in Vancouver, Canada, 1975 (runaway production way back then?) I had Rob Young as the Boom Operator --- Rob is a really good guy who went on to be a very accomplished mixer doing such movies as Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven." Regards, Jeff Wexler

Here is a pic of my soundcart I buildt a few years back. Still being improved, of coarse. It is based on magliner, modified with shelves and stands for booms, antennas etc. It can hold two 35 Ah batterys but usually I only use one, the other batteryholder goes to the wireless utility bag, wich is the same size. Two lentequip cabledrums can also fit on the bottom, giving easily 50m of video cable if needed. It can either hold my Ad 256 or as here a drawerkit. In this production I need quickly to go off-cart so the mixer is too fuzzy. All the antennasplits are done in the bag. So one has to switch the powersource and replace the sharkfins with wips, mounted on the harness, …

Just out of curiosity is anyone using an AV cart as a sound cart? I found one for a good price and was considering buying it. But just out of curiosity is there anyone else using one? If so mind posting pictures of how you have everything setup on yours? Thanks in advance. Nicole

For a while I've secretly hated using my bulky, heavy Rycote Modular, and I had the perfect chance to test out my replacement the other day. We were out in Monterey, CA with the USCG in high winds, and my combination of Rycote Softie and Koala cover worked beautifully. It's much lighter, more easily maneuverable, and much quicker to whip the Koala cover on when time is short

Kronos Quartet and the Stanford University Chorale doing Terry Riley's "SUN RINGS" 1.18.08. Stanford Memorial Auditorium (lots of HVAC...) 22 tracks 24/44.1 in Metacorder for 90 minutes w/ no stop--the longest (by 30 min) I'd ever recorded that many tracks in MC. 8 Analog, 2 SPDIF and 2 AES from Traveler, 8 ADAT from 8Pre, w/ the 702T (top) being the clock and TC master; MC running on a G4 1.5 PB w/ 2 ext. FW drives. Pretty high-stress gig, packed house (audience members sitting right next to the console and next to me in front of gear etc). It came out pretty well I think. If the famously picky Kronos members like it it may go up on their website soon (as mixed by …

I found this randomly and thought some of you guys and gals might find it interesting. Two what I assume are Fisher booms covering a ton of action. If you watch closely you can see on the bottom left a long shotgun aiming away covering the dancers. Fantastic real Flamenco!

Cool photo posted on Facebook Marriott at Beehive Cottage, Moreton, Essex (1966). Stephen Peter "Steve" Marriott (30 January 1947 – 20 April 1991) English musician, songwriter and frontman of two notable rock and roll bands, spanning over two decades. Marriott is remembered for his powerful singing voice which belied his small stature, and for his aggressive approach as a guitarist in mod rock bands Small Faces (1965–1969) and Humble Pie (1969–1975 and 1980–1981). Marriott was inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2012 as a member of Small Faces. In later life Marriott became disillusioned with the music industry and turned his back …
