If it delivers, could be a nice 49 dollar emergency backup for on set! Not perfect but at least something. You have to get an external interface though... http://www.auriaapp.com/Products/auria

A few weeks ago (mid-Dec. 2011) while Glenn Sanders, Colleen Goodsir, and John Coffey were in Nashville for some eating, drinking, motorcycle riding, and attending the Trew Audio holiday party, Glenn decided to present his latest, the Nomad mixer/recorder. Here is a link to the video (but only of the Nomad presentation) http://www.trewaudio.com/audioflow/2012/01/12/zaxcom-nomad-presentation-with-glenn-sanders/ Glen Trew

Chinhda is developing a custom sub-frame for a client. The concept is a self-contained module with all the essential components in one box that could be affixed to a cart or used independently. Monitors will be mounted in the doors seen in the photos here. We want a latch that would hold the doors securely closed but, because of the need to fit the whole business within a standard Pelican case, there is very little extra room to fit additional hardware. Using a magnet to hold the doors closed is an obvious solution. But, we've hesitated because the magnets would be so close - an inch or less - to the monitors. These are LCD monitors so my research and my experience tell…

As most of you know we built a modern Digislate and showed pre production models at the NAB show. We have not put this product into production as we are not sure of the demand for it and also what price the end users would be willing to pay. It is difficult to manufacture small quantities and break even. Keep in mind that the dealers who retail these products also need to make a reasonable percentage, about 30%. Basically we are asking how many of you would be interested in this device and what you think a fair retail price would be. As designed currently the Digislate offers three large digits based on super bright green LED's. There is a 3 way brightness swit…

Mixing on Nomad While I am not a sound mixer I can add some technical perspective on what it is like to mix on a Nomad and the effects it has on the production process. The benefits can only be experienced by having one over the shoulder. From the power up of the unit the Nomad is ready to go in 6 seconds. The power can either be switched on with the Nomad power switch or it may be switched with an external power system like a BDS box or similar device. External power may be removed at any time without fear of file corruption even without internal backup batteries. If internal batteries are present they function as a UPS. Battery life is 3 hours on AA…

Hello everyone, I have released the latest Boom Recorder, version 8. This is the first time I will charge for an update to Boom Recorder and I will try to get it on Apple's App Store. It is not yet in the app store, but if you like you can now buy Boom Recorder 8 from my own website: http://www.vosgames.nl/ One last thing, version 8 will only work on OS X Lion. As I mentioned before the biggest changes are in the meter bridge, with vertical meters and maximum peak meter. Below follows a complete list of changes: - Adding AppleScript state property, which may be polled to show the current Boom Recorder state. - Boom Recorder is now build with xc…

Chinhda just made up a batch of folding handles for sound carts. This is one of the few accessories not developed for use on a Chinhda Cart. (His cart designs already incorporate hand-holds.) These folding handles are made for use on Mag-Liner carts or any other design with a suitable mounting point. They are very strong and can easily handle carts of several hundred pounds. The handle grips are cross-hatched and more than an inch-and-a-quarter in diameter to provide a firm grip. David

I just wanted to give props to the guys at AD in Burbank. Usually we find the time to complain about shitty service and rarely post about a great experience with a shop/dealer. So, I thought it was equally important to let you guys know how pleased I am with AD. Yesterday I had a gig in which I needed to rent a mic for. When I called AD I spoke to Aaron, who was more then happy to take the time and chat with me about the proper mic for the job. He answered any questions I had and didn't make me feel like his time was too valuable. He was even willing to work with me on pricing since I've rented from them before and I was doing a same day rental. When I've called other pla…

Hey everyone, Kathrine and Poul from Bubblebee had sent me the specs from the wind test for the Cub and COS-11 and had ask me to post these. These are the official testings from a outside company. My personal unofficial test of the beta model for the Cub have been excellent! I have been very impressed when we have used it on some of the car work on the current project. The size works great for camera as far as hiding it. I'm sure Kathrine will be happy to answer any questions about this info. Cheers, Whit Microphone Windjammer measurements_carried by Delta-1.pdf

Hi Folks, I hope those here that celebrate Thanksgiving had a relaxing holiday. The Tascam HS-P82 had a new firmware release last week, enabling it to mirror it's recordings to two CF cards. Previously, it could only daisy-chain record to one CF card at a time. Details and downloads aren't on the US site, but they can be obtained here: http://www.tascam.de/en/downloads/current/HS-P82 Peter Schneider Gotham Sound

There is a power circuit issue with early Nomads that requires a return for service for a simple component change. It was discovered that if the AA battery caddy was inserted with the +/- reversed and external power was also connected, it could cause a diode to fail. After this diode failed, external power would try to "charge" the internal AA batteries without proper current limiting, causing them to overheat. I'm told that a simple component change solves this issue, and is done, of course, at no charge (ha ha... that's punny!) I don't know the serial number cutoff for this issue, but for Trew Audio customers it affects serial numbers up to 10032. I'm …

K-Tek is now shipping three new windscreens. First, we have the KTMM. Codename: “mini-mini”. We originally showed these at NAB, and we have been selling lots of them and been getting positive response, so I wanted to make sure you are all aware of them. These are small lavaliere fleece winsdscreens which are the ideal complement for microphones such as the Sanken COS-11, Countryman B3 and B6. The second is the KTFUZ. Codename: “the fuzzball” because that’s exactly what it looks like. The Fuzzball is a small fuzzy windscreen for lavaliere microphones. It features a small elastic loop which helps secure the fuzzball to the microphone. It is available in black or grey.…

So, as most of you already know, the Maxell 5X DVD RAM discs in jewel cases and in 50pc spindle form are no more. And, we have exhausted the supply in our storeroom much quicker than we had anticipated. However, we now have plenty of the Verbatim 5X DVD RAM discs in the jewel case for those who want and need the 5 speed discs. There seems to be no problem in getting these so, the crisis has once again been averted! We also have the Panasonic 3X in the jewel cases in stock. Thanks
