I don't know how many Video playback engineers there are on JW Sound, bit if you are called upon to do any 24 frame Video playback or poor man's ADR Video playback on set you might be interested in this thread. I have worked as an audio and video engineer in the Television and Film industry for over 50 years and now it comes time (in my semi-retirement) to share a bit of the technology and tools that I have created for my own personal use over the last couple of decades. I have gathered together a handful of my most useful video and audio playback software tools and packaged them in a piece of computer hardware to serve as a kind of Swiss Army Knife for the …

Over the last year, Lectrosonics repair times at the factory had drug out to 5 to 6 weeks. This was due to the large number of re-blocks from the television industry as the FCC forced the stations out of the auctioned frequencies. We received literally hundreds of units from each of the major networks. We finally had to run two separate service paths so that re-blocking didn't completely freeze out the regular repairs, i.e., the talent dropped it in the toilet. We were still overloaded and repair times stretched out way too far. Hiring more techs is difficult since they don't grow on trees, demand is at an all time high, and fewer persons are going into the te…

My first overseas shipment was FedEx AWB 8406 5847 1023 on 28th July 2003 to Mr Dave Diamond (DD) in Los Angeles USA. It was a big call for Mr Diamond to buy a sound cart (SU) from someone a world away, sight unseen and money up front. I have named my new cart after Dave Diamond. The DD cart

I've been absent from the forum for a couple of years as I pursued a career in industrial design. Hello again! I'll be selling my gear pretty soon, but in the meantime, I can announce the first new Abetek product in quite some time. I was able to partner with my company in a joint venture to bring this out. For everyone who uses a lot of NiMH AAs, this is for you. On many shoots I was using at least two racks of 12 AAs per day. At the end of the day, unloading all the batteries to be charged, and reloading them the next day, was a hassle. So I can now present to you, my baby, the RadCad. It pretty much does what it says on the ti…

Hi everyone! (picture is of my previous charger) Well i received some calls and mails about the chargers i made in de the past. Besides me posting in the manufacturing forum i am just a normal dude making them for fun and maybe some profit on the side. But that was never the intend when i started it, i build the first version just for a friend of mine. Now after making a few, i come to the conclusion that if i would want to provide chargers i need to change things up, first off the electronics are not being made anymore and besides that the quality of the supplier was rather random (that's why i tested all chargers beyond normal before i shipped, eve…

The Venue 2 receiver system was made available this week in the 941 Band. This band is open to Part 74 users (sound mixers) and has become a defacto traveling band. Part 15 (unlicensed users) are excluded. Four models of transmitters are available in the 941 band. Currently, users are seeing very clean scans in these bands. See info at : https://www.lectrosonics.com/lectrosonics-venue2-receiver-system-now-available-in-941-960-mhz-band.html Best Regards, Larry Fisher

A lot of work to achieve a dedicated fit for the new CMC-1U ! The CUT60 is highly recommended for booming ! We created a specific COSI-XS cage version for this microphone (with or without CUT60), but a regular S version will do the job perfectly ! A specific holder has to be used (COSI-HLD-CMC1U).

For those of you not up to date on our development head on over to our Facebook for some details on the new design using brighter LEDS (no pricing yet): https://www.facebook.com/FUZETi/ For now, I'm looking primarily for input from those who own slates or in the market for one, on what kind of slate sizes you prefer. Be it you only ever use compact slates, only ever use the standard 11" slates, or would like the option to switch back and forth, perhaps even an over sized slate, or whatever use case you have in mind. Below are the prototype panels in comparison to our current MRE slate as well as the basic dimensions of the two panels. Love to hear your thought…

Joe D’Augustine and I have been working to clear out items from Chinhda’s old shop and we have available several brackets to hold Sound Devices 744/702 recorders. For anyone not familiar with Chinhda, he was a machinist and engineer of remarkable skill and ingenuity. He began making specialty carts for Mike Denecke and went on to build carts for many of the top sound mixers. A remembrance of him can be found in the Spring 2018 edition of Production Sound and Video: https://magazine.local695.com/magazine/spring-2018/chinhda The bracket holds a 744/702 series recorder securely. Like all of Chinhda’s products, no modification of the recorder is …

Hi all, I'm prepping for a film in Asheville and need to get local frequency compliant radio mics with racked RX, some program monitoring TX/RX too. What are the nearest reputable companies I could be looking at? Everything nearby seems to be video A/V so any pointers will be gratefully received. I'll also be needing an assistant/trainee. Where is the best source for that? Please forgive me but I'm new to using this rather wonderful site and haven't learnt my way round it yet. Warm regards, Julian
