The SPDR is Lectrosonics’ response to customer demand for a small, lightweight dual channel recorder for use on virtual reality sound captures or as a backup recorder for bag systems in the field. The SPDR allows capture of the full stereo audio of an extreme sport participant, in-car scenes, plant mics, or in situations where a wireless system isn’t practical. When used in conjunction with a small mixer and the SRC receiver, the SPDR makes for a lightweight interview setup that provides full redundancy - all fitting into a small fanny pack. For compatibility with a wider range of memory cards while retaining high reliability, the SPDR features a deep write buffer. …

Hey Guys, Finally, This is the second of the AO bags to go through the redesign process. Of course this bag is obviously very similar to the previous AO-1.5, the main change is the internal dimensions of the bag. Its the smallest of the AO bags. A lot of enquiries about the handles, pockets and modular sides have been brought up. I am dealing with quite a few requests for custom variations of the bag. I'll be sure to post pictures of these custom requests. Also, If certain customer adaptations or changes prove to be popular, then more than likely, that may well be an adaptation that can be permanently made to the factory stock AO. Thank you again for all you…

On Saturday Feb 18 we will make available an RF suppression bracket for the TRX900AA and the STA150/STA042. This bracket attaches to the bottom of the TRX900AA and STA150. It will attenuate RF interference caused by the digital signals that the TRX900AA uses to run the STA150. The attenuation is 3dB to 8 dB. This bracket is free to all customers and will be distributed at the Zaxcom/Coffey Sound seminar Saturday Feb 18 starting at 9:00 am. Customers can receive the bracket after the seminar as well by contacting Zaxcom directly. Information on the seminar can be found at the following link. http://www.zaxcom.com/events-exhibitions

We have just posted the Zaxcom QRX100 page on our web site. http://www.zaxcom.com/qrx.htm There is a lot of detailed information on this new 4 channel ENG receiver, its IFB return channel and sync generator options. In the photos page is a shot of the unit in its Zaxcom camera holder. You will notice a group of 12 LEDs (3 per channel) located on the side of the unit. These will clearly indicate from a great distance that audio is being received by the QRX100 on each of its 4 channels. As most ENG receivers face the sky when in use it seemed logical to position the LEDs in a position that could be easily seen when in the camera mount. The unit can be reversed in the…

Mixing on Nomad 1 2

Mixing on Nomad While I am not a sound mixer I can add some technical perspective on what it is like to mix on a Nomad and the effects it has on the production process. The benefits can only be experienced by having one over the shoulder. From the power up of the unit the Nomad is ready to go in 6 seconds. The power can either be switched on with the Nomad power switch or it may be switched with an external power system like a BDS box or similar device. External power may be removed at any time without fear of file corruption even without internal backup batteries. If internal batteries are present they function as a UPS. Battery life is 3 hours on AA…

Hey Everyone! We are excited to announce some new products from Sound Guys Solutions. First is our TM1 tablet mount. This is designed to hold a small tablet in your audio bag. The top flips over so you camera can shoot video of the timecode on the screen. It's designed to work with the Nomad Touch and Movie Slate for the whole flip over purpose, but any small tablet can go on here. You just mount it with velcro. Magnets hold the top in place, and you just push the top of the tablet to flip it over on the hinge. We'll have a video shortly, but here's the info on our site. http://www.sound-guys.com/#TABLET MOUNTS Second, are our new Lav-Bullet/Lav-Rod adapters. If …

Due to the high costs of manufacturing the "Reflecto Pole", we have haulted production on that product. However, we do have some other new things coming out. First, is our sharkfin antenna mount that we are cleverly calling "The Shark". Check it out here. Next is something a little different for us, but completely useful for production sound mixers. We have made a machined aluminum case for the iPhone 4 and 4s. Why would we do this? Because so many people are using iPhones on their carts as controlling devices with various wifi products, and our case has threaded 1/4x20 threaded holes so you can mount it on a little tripod. Check it out here.

We have just posted 2.0 for the 664. This update offers access to analog inputs 7-12 and 16-track recording without requiring the CL-6. We have been hard at work getting this functionality in absence of the CL-6. For users that need direct fader access to inputs 7-12, the CL-6 is still an important piece of kit. Menu control of inputs 7-12 doesn't work for everyone, especially in a bag with sources requiring level adjustments. http://www.sounddevices.com/download/664-firmware/

Hi guys, Besides being a soundie, I'm also a freelance editor at an online tech news & reviews publication, Bright Side of News. I've been reviewing lots of headphones and accessories recently, but I want to expand to more pro-level equipment. I'm going this year as Press, and I'm curious if any reps here would like to set up an appointment for coverage of what's new at their booth. I'll be there from Monday till Wednesday. Thanks! Matt

Like to introduce our new cart... Have 8 of these available from next week. Two wheel options. More at http://www.rastorder.../product_mb.htm Would also like to explain a bit more about it's concept. The Mb cart is not designed to work in front of like a drama cart. It is designed to work over the top of, with the mixer bag in much the same position as it is when its around your neck or in a harness. So you can boom & reach down to mix at the same time. Sure it has a boom pole holder on the back - but more importently it has one on the front - where you can (with a Toolflex holder) easily & safely rest your boom while you fiddle. Cable hanging i…

Its a quote I borrowed from Eric Burge... Just made 2 of these (modified 2G carts) for a lighting bloke here in AUS. Thought it might give a few of you ideas. The larger sliding shelves are for a grand MA ultra light console - they will take up the entire shelf but only weigh13.6kg, not much more than an O1V's 12.5kg. The other shelf - which is reversable is for a laptop. Up above on the half width shelf will sit monitors. Yep, thats a coffee cup holder with coffee cup on end. RS
