Its a quote I borrowed from Eric Burge... Just made 2 of these (modified 2G carts) for a lighting bloke here in AUS. Thought it might give a few of you ideas. The larger sliding shelves are for a grand MA ultra light console - they will take up the entire shelf but only weigh13.6kg, not much more than an O1V's 12.5kg. The other shelf - which is reversable is for a laptop. Up above on the half width shelf will sit monitors. Yep, thats a coffee cup holder with coffee cup on end. RS

Since 1st of March our ASF-1 hydrophone is finally shipping! Right now we do our best to cope with all the backorders as soon as possible. As underwater is the most demanding environment for gear, we thoroughly tested the ASF-1 all over Europe. Please enjoy our short videos, documenting some tests of the last months. The videos show how we continuously increased the demands on the ASF-1. So let's begin with the first test in the German Alps, more videos will follow: https://vimeo.com/123313111

The Tonmeister App is finally online and we added some more neat and free of charge features. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tonmeister/id931110535?l=de&ls=1&mt=8 (In response to the big amount of interest, feedback and questions I opened this new thread so nobody has to jump to the last page of our NAB thread all the time.) We are all sincerely sorry for the delay! To give you a more detailed explanation please read the6 new products thread. We think that the additional development time resulted in a more reliable app and we hope that you will like the tool. Please share your thoughts. We hope that we can grow this software together …

Next week is our 15th anniversary...holy cow. For some fun, we are looking for the user with the oldest Sound Devices product still in use. That user will get a token of our appreciation. Since day one, our serial number syntax has remained the same, and it includes the date built. Attached is an example, which happens to be the very first serialized product we ever made, still sealed and sitting on the shelf in the conference room next to the labeled "Sound Devices" box. It was made on the 85th day of 1999, March 26. It was one of several built to be ready for NAB 1999, our first year there. Serial number description: first two digits - product code (will …

We are starting to include 25 mg (tiny amount) of silver conductive paste in a teensy vial, with all SM series transmitters. This is to be used on the thumbscrew for the battery cover plate. We have been applying a 1 mg (very tiny) speck of this silver conductive paste to all SM's manufactured in the past year. The reason for the conductive paste is to reduce the slight voltage drop between the thumbscrew threads and the case threads. As this drop is reduced, less battery power is used to overcome this drop and more is available to power the transmitter. As the thumbscrew is loosened and tightened while replacing batteries, the silver in the paste is forced into the micro…

Hey all, just wanted to let you know my button-down lav mounts are now available at Pro Sound. You can get them in black or white for the COS-11, DPA 4060 series, or B6. http://www.pro-sound.com/p/SABEMICMOUNT.html I made these to deal with a really awful work shirt on a show I've been on this summer. Starchy, crackly and dense, it responded weakly to some of my favorite tricks but was still a pain. I had the idea to brute-force a solution that would give the mic some clearance and also create a dead space in the shirt, movement-wise. I tried a couple of different materials and this is the result. The mounts are very flexible, vibration-absorbent, and strong - they…

I checked out the Lectro SSM via the banner ad on this site. I was surprised at a few things I found: --proprietary rechargable battery, only? Proprietary charger, not a fast charger, of the sort usually sold as "travel chargers", that are usually pretty slow and hard to crowd into an AC strip in numbers --a Lemo mic connector, (not TA5F). What? This is a Lectro, right? phil p

I've been absent from the forum for a couple of years as I pursued a career in industrial design. Hello again! I'll be selling my gear pretty soon, but in the meantime, I can announce the first new Abetek product in quite some time. I was able to partner with my company in a joint venture to bring this out. For everyone who uses a lot of NiMH AAs, this is for you. On many shoots I was using at least two racks of 12 AAs per day. At the end of the day, unloading all the batteries to be charged, and reloading them the next day, was a hassle. So I can now present to you, my baby, the RadCad. It pretty much does what it says on the ti…

We thank members of this forum for recognizing our product. We had created Moving Blanket for Soundproofing, “Producer’s choiceâ€ by request and recommendations of sound recording professionals and movie producers, members of another forum – DVXUsers. After some discussion what would be the best sound blanket for acustic room treatment, there was a consensus that Outer fabric would be cotton, not shiny polyester. The weight would be around 8 lbs – lighter would be not enough and heavier would be too heavy to manage. And the colors – Black one side and White the other for special light reflective. So this is what we did. (http://moverssupplies.com/Moving-B…

In the next few days Zaxcom will release Nomad sim. This simulator will allow anyone to experience the Nomad user interface and to learn its capabilities. The simulator will also help customers get familiar with the user interface so it will seem familiar when Nomad is delivered. The Nomad sim is written for PC. I am sure macs that can run PC software will be fine with it as well. The Nomad sim will be available via the Zaxcom web site download section. Glenn Sanders President Zaxcom Inc

After a nearly 10 year hiatus, we are going to bring back our PSC Digislate (documentary style bloop slate with scene and take numbers) We last sold these almost a decade ago. Well it seems that all the D5 and D7 users need a bloop slate once again. We cannot just re-release the old design as many of the parts are no longer available. So its time to start a new design. So far we have had requests for 2 digits, a bloop tone (both wired and an audible tone from the box itself) and so on. If you have any ideas on what you would like to see included in the design, please post you ideas here or email me at: ron at professionalsound dot com Thanks for any input…

Ambient Insider's tips Recent requests from the USA and China showed that although frequently used in Europe some of our products and small workflow helpers are rather unknown to the majority of our community. Thus we would like to take the opportunity and introduce you to our "insider's tips" which have been on the market already for quite some time. VSLOT As prosumer as well as digital cinema cameras nowadays offer at least broadcast compatible video quality they mostly cut back professional audio features and inputs. With the VSLOT you can add a professional stereo slot-in receiver (of course also mono) to all cameras or rigs with a V-Mount battery. This…

I have made a new version of the SU cart. I have called this Series 2. Series 1 - has the full shelf in the bottom module higher up, so a drawer can be placed under it. Series 2 - has the full shelf abt middle, so a sliding laptop shelf can be mounted well above it. I have made one large bottom box with an open front. It easily accomodates a Pelican 1300 case (typical battery case). Rack strips go all the way down the front and a rack panel can be attached to secure the front of the bottom box. Many people, many times, ask me to put rack strips on a VK cart. Its design parameters dont suit it... So I now also make either SU's with a depth of 500mm instea…

I’ve had the pleasure of working with a lot of you on many different movies, TV shows, and commercials. I’m writing to introduce my new book called Down to the Wire. The book goes through many tips, tricks, and advice on the ins and outs of wiring talent that only a professional working in hands-on situations can suggest. This is an interactive book available for iPad that not only teaches you set etiquette and basic sound principles, it also incorporates step by step videos teaching how to wire talent in many different wardrobes. …
