I'm looking for a software that runs on a mac and offers what is called "O-Ton-Modus" or "cue mode" on Samplitude. One splits a track into several clips and when hit the space bar it plays one clip, pauses at the beginning of the next clip until one hits space again. And so on. Its just what I want for prerecorded phone conversations. I don't wanna use those cartridge-type software. Just not flexible enough. I need to rearrange the clips on the fly. Any ideas?

Hi guys! I bought a new MADI interface for my Boom Recorder rig and am getting an error. I have only used Boom Recorder with analog and ADAT devices before, so maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong? I am receiving a "We lost samples between the audio interface and the i/o cycle" error after 2 or 8 minutes of recording. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Here is the configuration I am using: Boom Recorder 8.7.2, 65 Channels, 130 Files, 1 Folder RME Ufx+ via USB 3 15" Macbook Pro 2016, Osx 10.12.6, 2.6 Ghz i7, 16G Ram 1TB G Drive USB 3 Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi All, Wondering if anyone has done a music tracking session into a DAW using a Sound Devices MixPre 6/3? Thinking of retiring an Apogee Duet Firewire and wonder how the MixPres sound for music tracking. It's ability to do double duty is very attractive if the studio sound is in the Duet league or better. I've seen a video or two demo-ing recording music live-off-the-floor direct into the MixPre - more curious as to how it sounds as DAW interface as compared to others in it's price-point. Would love to hear a full layered session (clean instruments - not distorted guitar) with a wide variety of acoustic and virtual instruments and especially male and female l…

Hi, I just released Boom Recorder 8.7.0. I think many people here have been waiting to save and load preferences for different projects. I Also made it possible to have a larger ring buffer, for people who record at 384 kHz Cheers, Take Vos

I recently purchased the Mackie 1620i. I plug it into my Mac Mini and when I plug in a mic I can hear a doubling effect on any input I use. How do I stop this. I had not have this happen using my alesis mixer. It's like my audio is looping through the mixer. Also I I push the solo buttons the effect is no longer heard. What do I need to do to correct this issue?

Does anyone have preferences for certain control surfaces? I am thinking of adding support for this to Boom Recorder.

I have an aging Mackie Onyx 1620 in my cart, with a FW card, which connects to a MacBook Pro. It has served me well for a few years, but I'm having issues with a few mute and solo buttons. I've taken it in for service, but the issues persist. Chances are, it would cost close to what it's worth now ($450) to have those buttons repaired/replaced, so I'm looking for a board to replace it. I need 8-12 input channels, at least two submixes or aux outputs and talkback, as well as FW or USB connectivity for Boom Recorder. I've looked at and considered the following mixers: Presonus StudioLive 16.4.2 AI Allen & Heath QU-16 Yamaha LS9-16 (not sure it has ta…

Hi, I am seriously thinking about doing some major development for Boom Recorder and start working toward version 9. I am thinking of getting rid of the patch bay and creating a better user interface for this function; routing inputs to outputs and files. There are several reasons for getting rid of the patch-bay and maybe what is shown on the main window: The current interface is cumbersome when working with over a hundred channels. The storage of the patch-bay data is large and is hampering the possibility of having multiple configuration files. I want to increase the number of channels above and beyond 256. The CPU usage is higher than it needs to be (even though i…

Can anyone give me some information as to what this sort of interference might be? (Attached are two screenshots from a brief iZotope RX-5 sample of a session I recorded last night. One shows the interference as a somewhat continuous (there is some amplitude modulation) frequency at 1kHz, with overtones at 2, 3, and 4 kHz. There are additional harmonics that get quieter as the frequency goes up and so are difficult to see on this example. The second screenshot is the same sample, using a feature of RX-5 that allows one to select the fundamental frequency, and then select for the overtones too. Here , it is easy to see additional harmonics at 5, …

I'm in the market for an audio interface to record to, and play from, a current model 15" MacBook Pro (via USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt) and, in the nice but not essential category, a current model iPad (via an independent power source for the interface and the iPad camera connector kit). I already use a Sound Devices 7 series recorder. For the interface, I need only two mic inputs, and output to headphones and two speakers, so the obvious choice is a USBPre 2. However, there appear to be credible alternatives at similar or lower prices - for example, RME's Babyface, Universal Audio's new Apollo Twin (although it requires AC power, i.e. cannot be powered by the comput…

Hello All,I'm putting together a small rack-mount kit and need a USB audio interface for it. I bought an M-Audio M-Track 8 but there were some issues with audio bleeding between tracks, probably due to the signal being too hot coming in, so I'm looking for a replacement. The inputs will be Lectro Wireless, Computer Audio, and audio split from an HDMI input. What I need are:8x or more Pre-Amps (At least 6 of which are on the rear of the unit)USB 2.0 or 3.0 interfaceRack Mountable (preferably 1ru)Hardware Controlled (I.E. Knobs) I think I've primarily been looking at music oriented interfaces so far so I may need help finding something more capable of handling the …

I'm having a bit of a re-jig of the TV/sound system and using some active monitors for a surround setup. In order to get all the decoding done without a computer I'm going to need a surround preamp/decoder box. In order to play back things from the computer it'll need to go in over HDMI. I'm wondering whether anyone's run multichannel outputs from their HDMI port on their computer and how well the drivers talk to DAW software? Any latency issues (although I expect I'll only use it for playback)

Was having a scour around for USB-AES solutions and came across DirectOut technologies. http://www.directout.eu/en/products/index.html They do a few products based around MADI conversion, and some which work with existing RME expresscard interfaces. They're also DC powered with hirose connectors (!) and can even take a redundant power supply. Most interesting are the EXBOX.UMA http://www.directout.eu/en/products/exbox.uma.html and the EXBOX.AES http://www.directout.eu/en/products/exbox.aes.html

Hi all, I just got a Digi 002 to work with BR and wanted to confirm that it works at 24/48 in stand alone mode? I assume that using BR will not allow me to configure the Digi 002 for 24/96? The Digi 002 is sending prefader in stand alone mode (question being if the limiter can be applied before the signal reaches the BR)? Thanks Richard

Has anyone tried feeding Boom Recorder via Dante Virtual sound card ? It uses the Apple core audio so theoretically it should work ? Just wondering if anyone has tried it. Thanks.

The Sound Devices 788t has eight of arguably the best preamps and ADCs in a portable piece of sound equipment. It also has firewire ports. On top of that it is the industry standard for location based mutitrack recorder: most sound mixers either have one or are at least familiar with their use. Wouldn't it be AMAZING if this piece of equipment could be used as a computer audio interface? All the pieces are there. Its seem like it is only the software that is holding this machine back from becoming a whole new beast. I already use mine for its preamps in my project studio and then run it through a ADC/interface into Pro Tools. This would cut out a whole section of the sign…

Hi Folks, I finally finished cutting together the video I shot of RME's Jeff Petersen at NAB. There's a lot of interesting topics that he discusses, including: why RME chose external PCIe instead of Thunderbolt a new standard for MADI over Ethernet why RME feels MADI is inherently more stable than DANTE 12V DC powered MADI interface with DSP Here's the link: I hope it's ok to post this here and not the Manufacturers and Dealers forum - it just seems more on-target in this forum. Greetings all, Modified the long html report that ships with Boom recorder. Changed it to more resemble something that say Wave Agent might produce.. The XML is tricky getting to the names for each track and haven't figured out a way to put them horizontal.. Anyway link directly below is an example of how it looks and included a link to the files needed to generate the report.. http://louisianafilmsound.com/boomrecorder/SoundReport.html Download the archive and put files into whatever folder you want, then point BR to this folder Archive that contains the modified .css and .xsl files http://louisianafilmsound.com/boomrecorder/ReportTemplate.zip Mark …

Hi All, I'm looking to see if anyone is using Boom Recorder after installing OSX Yosemite. Or for that matter, Wave Agent, Pixnet/Pix 260, Dante Virtual SoundCard, Audacity etc. Any issues encountered by anyone so far? Just checking into it before I do the leap. Thanks, Scott Harber

Asked to bid on a video shoot. Recording multitrack as the bands play live to video (3 camera). Much like the "Sun Studio Sessions" or "ACL". I have a studio friend who records live bands with a laptop PC based software (not sure what) and a Behringer X32, I would provide the timecode with my 664 and feed to him, which he would put on a track. But I'm thinking of going the Boom Recorder (BR) with a Mackie Onyx 1640i mixer route. These are 'Bro' Country bands -all 4 piece with a singer or 2 so I should be fine with 16ch. 6 bands performing 1 song each. I deliver BWAV files the record label will do the post work. 99.999% of my work is Film -Television and video …

Gday, Sorry for the probably dumb question but I am trying to work out if it is possible to go AES out of my SD702t into the AES (XLR) inputs of my Lynx Aurora 8 to basically see if I can use the 702 at pres for my studio when needed but im getting lost in the SD manual is it just referring to +4 and -10 with the pro and consumer settings? thanks and sorry again for the dumb question.

I saw this in another post and rather than hijacking that one I thought it might be better to start a new topic. Apologies if you feel I was wrong in that assumption. Anyway, I've wanted to use my 702T in the same way. It only has 2 channels so SPDIF should work right? What cable/adaptors do I need to make this work? I have a Hosa Digital-Transfer Coax cable which has the RCA-style ends. (male on both ends). Do I just need a BNC to female RCA? I want this to go into the SPIDF input on my 002. Last question: am I limited to 48k/24bit/stereo? Or can I do 96k/24bit/mono? Thanks!
