I am not sure about this connector. It looks like it is not very reliable to work with live audio. My power adapter seems to cut-in-and-out with the connector on my MacBook. Does anyone have any experience, or a solution?

If I close the program and or eject the hard drives I am unable to successfully relaunch BR without creating new directories? The program worked flawlessly during the 30 day trial but since purchase this has happened repeatedly...at least 4 times this past week. Restarting Macbook pro does not factor. The only workaround is starting BR with drives undocked then creating new folders after the drives are reinstalled. Not optimal to do for just a lunch break Genie shutdown, etc I'm mirroring using 1 FW500GB and 1 USB250GB with BR 7.22 / 2G RAM Again, for a 18 day shoot during trial period seamless on/off cycling Any other experiences or fixes? Please advise

Gday, Sorry for the probably dumb question but I am trying to work out if it is possible to go AES out of my SD702t into the AES (XLR) inputs of my Lynx Aurora 8 to basically see if I can use the 702 at pres for my studio when needed but im getting lost in the SD manual is it just referring to +4 and -10 with the pro and consumer settings? thanks and sorry again for the dumb question.

Hi all. What are disadvantages of recording multitrack directly to a smartphone via an audio interface like RME Babyface instead of a dedicated recorders like Sound Devices or Zoom? I understand synchronization won't be an option as phones won't generate sync code. What about other aspects? Reliability etc? Has anyone done that as a sound mixer for film?

Hi Group, I have to start a show at the last minute and they are requesting 30ndf 48048 24bit. I've read all the posts and will be setting up like this 744T 48048 30ndf as master clock/sync source. Boom Recorder TC 29.97, clock set to spdif from 744t, hardware sample rate 48K, file sample rate 48K. Motu Ultralight is acting as a pass through for TC to analogue track on Boom Recorder. I think this is the "proven cheat" way of setting up Boom Recorder to record 48048. Any Comments? Many thanks, Patrick

Hello everyone, I finally finished the new preferences architecture in Boom Recorder. Functionally this version is not different, but some of the preferences have moved between the tabs of the preferences window. I really wanted to finish this because I have some plans for changing how time and pull up / pull down works. Although I had the old and new preferences side by side for comparison and I have tested it carefully this is quite a big change. Be careful before going into production with this version, but I would love if you can try it out. Cheers, Take

I found an interesting product that could be useful for all those using Mac Mini's on the cart for Boomrecorder, Metacorder, etc. The new iMo eye9 has it ALL. A full 9" touchscreen with improved, crystal-clear 1024x600 resolution plus a 1.3 megapixel rotating detachable webcam…but there's more, much more: a built-in stylus that ingeniously doubles as an easel stand, a standard base that allows for multiple viewing angles plus landscape and portrait viewing modes, easy removal for tablet-style use, and (with the Flex-Arm Mount, purchased separately) quick, secure mounting to virtually any surface! PC and Mac compatible, works with Windows and Mac OSX. http://…

Hello, I am currently trying to use 3 MOTU 896 mk 3 Hybrid units. Is anyone else doing this with a laptop? I was only able to get this to work by using both separate FireWire connections on my MacBook Pro. I made an aggregate device and linked 2 MOTU's off one FireWire port and one MOTU off the other FireWire port. Metacorder sees this no problem. But, is there a way to get all of my inputs to show up, post metacorder, on the headphone jack of just one MOTU box? Metacorder has no menu that allows me to select a signal path for my headphones out. Currently I have to use the 1/8" on the MacBook itself. It works, but is not ideal. Thanks for any assistance …

New to the I/O settings on Pro-Tools 9 non-HD version. Can anyone tell me how to set it up so my Mix-Pre D is the USB interface for I/O? Thanks!

curious if anyone is using this and/or know if its compatible with boomrecorder or metacorder. http://www.mackie.com/products/1200f/index.html i thought the different routing options were neat. it seams that, if for some reason their is a computer issue, the routings will still work as well as the main outs. backup recorder and all the vairous feeds/ sends "should" work. thoughts?

Typically I run a mono mix, six pre-fade outputs, and TC into the 8 analog inputs on the back of the Fireface 800. In Boom Recorder, I display 9 tracks and assign time code to track 9, just in case I want to throw a 7th mic in there for some CRAZY reason. All is good. But yesterday I decide to send (L)® into two inputs and the six pre-fade into the others. A show I covered for last week wanted a stereo mix + iso tracks. I never used more than 2 mics, so was not much of an issue that day. Yesterday I thought I'd set up my cart that way as a test while I was waiting for an actor to come to our unit. I ran (L)® out of the board into 1 & 2, and the pre-fades into 3…

I've done a great deal of audio recording on computers, on location mostly on a 12" Powerbook G4 w/ Metacorder. That won't be happening anymore because that computer was stolen off my sound cart on a job today. My other computer is a 1 year old MacBook 13" 2.16 Core Duo, and that is about to be hosed off and made into my audio computer. Any one have any caveats about using this model (or MacBooks in general) w/ Meta or Boom recorder? thanks Philip Perkins

Anyone Using MOTU MicroBook II Link Here Hi I was looking to buy an Audio interface for my PC. This too is an all new endeavor for me. I was hoping to hear from some of the fine folks here about this topic. I want to hook a standard Condenser MIC which requires 48V Phantom Power to my PC. So what do you use to send MIC signals to your PC? Have you use or have you heard of the MOTU Microbook II? If so what are your thoughts? If no what are your thoughts? In my book, there is always room for information about alternative solutions. I am never against saving a few bucks as long as the quality isn't being negated. (I know you get what you pay …

http://www.videotoolshed.com/product/60/vtsrecorder/3 New audio app, very simple, will (they say) be very cheap, but will look at outboard multi-input interfaces. Most interesting to me is their claim that they can generate very accurate TC (2 fr in 24 hrs) on a Mac or PC w/o an external xtal or clock....a pretty good trick if it works, and worth the price for that alone. I have a couple of jobs coming up where I'm going to need to record quite a few channels of audio (more than 4, hopefully 16 or less). One job is with a lot of people talking and I'll be using a couple of Dugan Model-E's (which requires insert points). The other will be a doc about a modern composer and will include some live music recording. I own a Presonus StudioLive 16.4.2 mixer, which I've been very happy with, and I've been using the firewire out from that to record multitrack audio. But up till now, I haven't needed to worry about maintaining sync w/ video cameras over long takes. I know the StudioLive's wordclock is not especially accurate (altho I haven't yet mea…

I'm using a laptop for sync playback for music videos with the song in mono on channel one and timecode on channel two. I've been using Windows 98se and playing back with Sound Forge. The output comes from the computer's built-in headphones mini-jack. The setup works really well for this application. The computer is a ThinkPad with a 366mHz processor. I recently added a second ThinkPad as a backup. (Older laptops are dirt cheap -- ain't it great!) So, on the second laptop I decided to install a newer operating system only to discover something alarming. With Windows 2000 or Windows XP, there is a great deal of crosstalk between channels. Using either of these…

After what seemed like a long wait, I understand that Ambient has finally released their new Master clock. It's much smaller size and it's ability to also generate word clock at all standard sampling rates, including pull up and pull down, should make it very useful for Metacorder, Boom Recorder, etc. User's Manual attached. Hello everyone, It seems that Boom Recorder 7.25.3 is working on Lion, although I haven't spent to much time working with it. Right now I am trying to finish Boom Recorder 8.0.0 and get it on the App Store. Boom Recorder 8.0.0 will only work on Lion; this is because I wanted to use some new APIs. Next to a lot of small changes, the biggest changes are in the meters: - Optional vertical meters - Optional names on the meter, so that there is more room when using a lot of channels. - Optional maximum peak meter, which only resets once you click in the meter (sort of like a clipping indicator). Cheers, Take

Remote roll using Macbook or Ibook with recording programs: Dear All, Is anyone using Boom Recorder, Metacorder on a Macbook with a remote -- (pickle), or a MotuTraveler foot pedal? Any other tested remote control device or interface designed for Macbook or Ibook to work with recording software? Sincerely Ron Scelza Http://ronscelzasoundrecording.com

I was just trying to use an apple remote to roll boom recorder. It does indeed work, but it launches iTunes every time I hit play (record). Anyone know of a way to prevent this? The boom recorder manual says just to have iTunes closed - nothing more. Thanks, -Greg-

I just did some multitrack recording for a 3 camera doco shoot of the premier of a major new work by the Kronos Quartet at the Kasser Theatre at Montclair State Univ. in Montclair NJ. Due to the usual tedious exigencies of time and budget, I had to go directly from the airport (Newark) to the theatre, set up and start rolling, and then keep rolling for the next two and a half days as the performance came together in final run-throughs, a dress rehearsal, more run-throughs and the premier itself. Since it was the process of putting the piece together that interested the filmmakers (more even than the premier ) we needed to be rolling most of the time. To cover the large…
