Hey there, I went on a shoot yesterday where I didn't bring my own equipment. Sometimes I'm up for the challenge of making the best out of what you have at hand and improvise. The production had a Zoom H6 a "Boom", which was a Rode Pistolgrip screwed on a Sachtler Camera Monopod. Oh and no Audio-Bag whatsoever. I always bring my "Harness" just to have it. This is the Solution I came Up with. I made a loop out of Gaffa and wrapped it around the XLRr of input 2 and 4 of the Zoom. Later on i moved the wireless recievers up to the shoulder straps so I could see them with a little awkward headtwisting and the antennas weren't covered by my body anymore. It worked very w…

Katherine Chappell, a 29-year-old visual-effects editor who worked on Game of Thrones, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Divergent, died Monday after being bitten by a lion on safari in South Africa. The female lion attacked Chappell's vehicle through her open window, according to Lion Park employee Scott Simpson, who told NBC News that park rules forbid visitors from rolling the windows down. Hey there, This just popped up. Should one be scared?! If and how should this be embraced by sound guys? This will definetly be running wild on the market, when it comes to Reality-Formats and such. The question that comes up for me is, whether or not this will make any difference for the "human-personell". I read a lot discussions about how endangered sound mixers became because of the automation of their tools. It scares me, too. I thought I share a bit of my work with you guys: I was on a German TV production in France last year. We had a scene with 5 characters in a 5:40minutes all done in one steadicam shot. Jump to minute 17:15 - 22:54. It was done on my side with the great tool of Zaxcom´s TRX recordings and remixing. I was getting poor reception on one of the actors. My position was inside the building, left side of the TV / fridge in the kitchen (21:07min). Was great fun and I´m glad they didn´t cut the scene with the additional material we were shooting for safety. Something went wrong with the upload on youtube (it´s all speed up a bit, sounds a bit pitched) but you`ll get …

I was sitting next to a nutritionist on a plane last night. He noticed my ear plugs and said it was good to see a young person taking care of his ears. After telling him I was a sound engineer he began to tell me ways to maintain hearing health.
