Well, long story short, I am having trouble exporting sound files from a Korg D3200 digital recorder to my macbook. The files include a 1.4 gig 16 bit (44.1 khz) file, and the other is 24 bit (48 khz) and stands at about 4.8 gigs. Now i have two main problems, the first is that the transfer space i have available on the recording station is only 4 gigs, and i can't transfer the larger of the two files to my computer via USB. I need some way to either cut down on the track, or enlarge the transfer space without ruining or deleting what i have. The second came when i transferred over the smaller of the two files, but found it was a .DBK file, which i found out, after…

Hey - I'm new into the sound world, and I got my first call for a sound job on the Red today. I know there are a lot of things that need to be done differently (that it does not have XLR inputs for example). I would REALLY appreciate any advice. I have quite sometime to figure it out. Thanks!

I saw this on another forum: " uses a ta5 input which is much more robust than the lemo plugs " while the TA type connectors are less costly, more readily available, and usually easier to solder up (due mostly to being a bit larger) I have always found Lemo connectors to be more robust than the TA type. I also prefer the Hirose connectors over the coaxial connectors for power connections, and the Nutricon's over XLR or other types for breakaways... Many products mention their gold flashed connectors as a premium feature, and Lectrosonics is still mulling over what power connectors to use on future products! Lemo pins (gold flashed) make better, more reliable connec…

Hi all, I am heading to the U.S for a doco shoot and am planning on taking my block 21 wireless mics and block 22 camera hop (SR5 Rx + 2 LMa Tx). I will have scanning ability on both blocks. At this stage we will be shooting in LA, San Antonio, Toronto, and Chicago. I understand that 21 is ok but 22 not as good in places like LA. As my block 22 is primarily my camera hop and both TX and RX will have good line of sight and not be far apart much of the time that this should still be ok... Any thoughts or feedback appreciated (I will be running a back up recording of all audio if the link does throws a wobbly to be safe). Thanks, Chris.

I know this is possible and tried searching for it, but was unable to find any details. I was interested in using some of my Sennheiser's as an IFB since my Comteks got stolen. I'm using the 552 now and I'm feeding the transmitter from the mono mic out of the mixer. I'm just not sure on the setup for the receiver. What is the setup for using headphones with the receiver? Is it useful to have an inline (manual) volume adjustment on the headphones? Are there specific settings that need to be set on the receiver? Best, Palmer

Here's a neat website for finding open FM frequencies. Not used often, but useful for the occasional broadcast to background cars, etc. http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/vacant?select=city&city=

I have considered getting 1 Lav for a noisy location with a presenter direct to camera where the lav can be visible, perhaps a cardiod pattern lav but only if the presenter is directly addressing the camera without a sweeping arm gesture and head turn. After this week I am considering something else: I recently had to use the VT500 single lav in a supermarket using Lectro 411 unit. Background ambience faded way to the background much more so than many other lavs I've used. And later that day, two separate provided lav models on 2 talent on-camera together using Lectro 411 units. -A white Voice Technologies VT500 -Lav Mic which was for a broadcast TV talkshow segm…

I am trying to build a Tape (-10db) to Mic (-50db) pad. It is to cut the level from a stereo -10db source to a stereo mic input on a video camera. The stereo signal needs to be maintained. Does anyone have a schematic for this?

Does anyone know if I can charge a battery (NP-1 or 7.2V DV batt) while it is still connected to my equipment? Or would I have to disconnect the gear from the battery to protect it? My batteries are buried in my ENG bag and I was thinking it would be nice to just plug the battery in to a charger instead of having to dig it out. Any thoughts?

Does anybody have the Neutricon pinout for the Betabox? It's the Ravencourt/Essential Audio/Audio Developments pinout for the Neutricon, not the PSC as I understand they are different. If anybody can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, John Perkin

I have a feeling this might have been discussed here before, but I couldn't find it so here I go. As an example lets say you are using a 442 mixer going to a EX1 camera. The Mixer peaks at 20db, but the camera peaks at 12db. If you set your tone to 0db on the mixer and 0db on the camera, the camera audio will not mach to the mixer and will clip much earlier. At what db should the tone be set to on the camera to match correctly? And is there a formula to figure that out for other unmatched db situations? Nejc P

Hey all, I had another question about the Canter, this may seam like an amateur question but what would be the easiest (and wallet friendly) way to send a signal out to the director, for the moment. I want to send a signal I am hearing out to the director, and I don't have a mixer yet so its just the cantar X2, so what would I need to get besides the high cost lectros, or an easy temp set up that will work for now?

I've outgrown my powerstation and and cant justify a meon or powermax right now. I also dont have the time or skill to craft anything so elegant as Phil(beautiful distro box from another thread). Peter at Gotham recommended i take a look at the Super Powergate http://www.westmountainradio.com/SuperPWRgate.htm It provides power from either a power supply or battery(switches to battery if there is a kickout) or can be set up to float a battery. It also has a staged battery charging system built in The other item i found on their site are their Rigrunner series http://www.westmountainradio.com/RIGrunner.htm It seems these would be great to use for distro. each outle…

I have been recruited by my kids' elementary school theatre director to help with their feedback problem... To start with, I have suggested they only use two of their four speakers, since volume is not an issue. Four speakers sending sound bouncing around the room seemed an obvious problem. This is a relatively small are, and is a multi-purpose room with linoleum floors. When it's full of people, the problem is less, of course, but they are having trouble rehearsing. I have angled the speaker so they are not pointed directly at the back wall. Their biggest problem is with their lavs. I installed a delay box between the mixer output and the amp, but it doesn't s…

I have recently been doing some fairly simple sit down interviews with a bunch of ladies, who's voice could not be any quieter. I ask them to talk louder if possible but my request falls on deaf ears. The room we have been using is also not very quiet, AC constantly on, traffic outside ect.. So my question is: What would be the optimal mic for a boom pole for something like that? Right now I am using B6 for lav and the Schopes CMIT 5U for the shotgun. I was thinking maybe a Schopes capsule like the MK4? Any advice would be great. Thanks, Nejc P

Just wondering if anyone has heard of any RF co-ordination software that works in Australia. Have looked at Professional wireless' IAS software but only seems to support USA RF coordination. Cheers in advance Michael
