Hi all:

Not exactly a normal location sound gig here, but I know a lot of location guys/gals also do some live mixing for bands. We have an opening for a LA based client who is seeking a live sound sound mixer for mixing a band for a live stream weekly. Candidates must own a Midas 32 mixer or equivalent

32 channel board and a 32 channel analog splitter box and be available for a weekly gig one day a week from 9 am until 4:00 pm, most of that time is setup, rehearsal and breakdown with a live three hour broadcast. If you are looking to steady up your monthly income, this is a good anchor client, we

have been working with them for two years and we are losing our current mixer.

Candidate must have current demo reel of mixing live bands, must have good client skills, be efficient, diplomatic, easy to deal with, have good client communication and relation skills. This is a weekly gig

so candidates must also have a backup who can provide the same gear and skillset for the times when they cannot be at the gig. This is work for hire and pay is decent. Mixer output is sent to

our live broadcast team via an XLR run.

Hi all:

I'm partner is a live stream/live event production company and one of our clients who has a recurring weekly gig has requested that we add a sound mixer to our team. This is ironic as my partner in the company is a professional audio engineer, a very good one, but he serves as our webcast engineer and TD for this gig so he cannot perform this job. The job would entail mixing live music from a breakout feed from the venue (a pretty well know LA music venue) specifically for our live stream. The house sound mixer is strictly mixing for the house and our live streaming client is not satisfied with the mix for our live stream. We switch the show inside the venue at FOH, so we are looking to get breakouts of all of the mixer inputs sent to our own mixer, who we will locate in a quiet room backstage, and have our teams sound mixer do a great live stream mix, which our client would approve, then sending that mix back to our master control out in the venue where we are switching the show live.

We own an Allen & Heath SQ5 which is capable of mixing this performance, but there is a possibility of hiring this sound mixer with their own board/outboard effects if they have a preference over using their board versus our Allen & Heath. Our mixing board may not be available every week for this gig. The client has requested to listen to demo reels/work samples of candidates work specifically mixing rock/pop/country/RB with real instrument type music with a typical ensemble of bass, guitar, drums, keyboard and three vocalists, live, not in studio, not house, EDM, electronica, they want to hear samples with something akin to the standard instruments I described recorded and mixed live on stage. So the house is doing the house mix and the house is also doing the monitor mix for the stage, but neither mix is even remotely working for the live stream broadcast so they want to make a dramatic improvement. I don't know how many total input signals there are but I would guesstimate ten to twelve, plus we usually have an ambient mic on either side of the stage for audience sound.

A few things to keep in mind, assuming you are a freelancer and interested. This is a weekly gig, week in, week out on a weekend day. You must be available each week OR you must be available almost every week and if you are not available a particular week, you must provide a back up sound mixer who you have trained to do this gig who is also vetted and approved by the client. This client has a large on-line audience from all around the world and the live stream is a huge portion of their enterprise. As we all know, it's rare as a freelancer to land a weekly gig. The money isn't huge but it's decent and worthwhile. Non-union gig, freelance and the gig would typically last six to 6.5 hours total.

The Sound Collective is a NYC based group of sound mixer professionals with many years of experience at all levels of the field. We are starting a mentorship program to be fully launched beginning of March 2024 with the goal of supporting new professionals in the industry. We are currently looking for one person to mentor, with the goal of adding a second member later in the year.

We will be providing expertise, connections, equipment and guidance to one individual selected by mid-February. The goal is to get our mentees fully self sufficient within a year or a year and a half, then start fresh with a new person after the previous mentee is established.

Hi All, I'm a location sound mixer based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I currently work on a Zaxcom Nova mixer with two MRX-414 wireless modules for a total of 8 channels of wireless audio in a compact and lightweight mixer. I use Schoeps and Sennheiser interior / exterior boom mics... also sennheiser MKE2 lavs. I love working on short films and feature films. We have a timecode based workflow for upto six synced cameras. Also a Denecke digital slate and Comtek audio distribution on set. We also work in ProTools and have Isotope RX 10 Advanced plus Dolby Atmos surround sound renderer. We love fixing audio issues for the local film community... which we often do to help out short film productions.

Hi all,

I have mainly been a producer on videos for NGOs and a grant writer. I am trying to transition to location sound recording because I have a degenerative vision issue and it's difficult to use screens. Obviously, there are still screens in sound recording, but comparatively much less time spent on them on location etc.

I'm in Brooklyn, NY, and over the past few years started working on some TV (Art21) and a couple docs. I really want to learn in-person and would love to connect with folks here in the NYC area. Hello all, my name is Ryan Angel and I am the producer for a low budget short film happening in early April. Our sound mixer is unavailable for the two days and I thought this would be a great opportunity to expand my network and diversify my crew. We need a sound mixer with their own equipment who wants to come play over a weekend.
