Hi all! My name is Paul Dorough and I have worked in Location Audio for a few years. After graduating from San Francisco State College at the end of last year, I opened up my own Location Audio business called Sound Art Film and have been working as a freelance Sound Mixer for the past year. Recently business has been slow and I have decided to take it upon myself to reach out to people outside of my network in hopes of finding new employment opportunites and to network with other Sound Mixers in the San Francisco area. I am open to general conversations with other Sound Mixers, including just a friendly "hello" to working alongside one another. More info…

Under low budget commercial agreement. 650/12 min call, comes in at 46.43 per hour. Gear is $500, low but negotiate according to needs. Y8 rate is 500/12 which you will hire. 1 day, seems to be 1 location in LA area. Min radio mics, comtek in the area of 8. You will be filling in for me as I'm previously booked. PM me with contact info so we can go over details and how to bill for gear esp ala carte items. Looking for a union mixer to occasionally cover for commercial and daytime tv gigs. Thanks, Joe

I'm directing my first feature in late Dec/early Jan, and still looking for the right person to handle sound. The ideal candidate should be Brooklyn/NYC-based and have his/her own gear. Though we're shooting on a relatively minimal budget, I've set aside a decent amount of money for sound. Send a list of your past projects w/links and an equipment list if you want to be considered for this project: derick@fstopimages.com Thanks, Derick

Just wondering what everyones experience is with Production Hub in finding jobs/ getting calls. Has it been worth it to pay for being featured instead of the free listings?

I got an offer, but as juicy as it is, I am forced to turn it down. Posting here for anyone who wants it. Paid for 19 shooting days from April 11-30, 2013 - Copy and paste from the e-mail that production sent me... ".....Anyway, our sound requirements are pretty simple but somewhat unique. We will have 12 contestants initially, with one contestant getting eliminated every 2 days on average (every episode). We will need wireless lavs and bodypack transmiters on each of the contestants as well as the host. However, the lavs and transmitters can't get in the way of their shooting. In addition, we'll be shooting over rugged terrain on a 900 acre ranch, so we …

One of my A students from last term has asked me to post this, for projects this (Summer) term: We have class film shoots almost every week. We shoot one short film per week and each shoot happens in one day 8-10 hours. It's a class project, but we try to deal it very professionally. Some of our earlier projects in this class have won awards at film festivals. These shoots are in Pasadena, CA We are looking for a boom operator (single person sound crew) who can take care of all the dialog and hand the recorded file to us at the end of the shoot. We expect him to be a professional, and we can pay him $150 - $200 per shoot. We especially would love to work with a per…

Thought I would post here since I'd love to pick up some non-union sit-in and referral jobs in the Los Angeles Area. I've been mixing full time for 2 years and have a couple cable TV features under my belt, among a multitude of corporate and commercial work. I'm also comfortable swinging it or being a utility. I have a small Nomad 10 follow cart for narratives and a 302 bag for smaller OTF and sit down interview jobs. 4 channels of Zaxcom wireless (3 lavs and wireless boom), and 3 ERX IFB. Additionally, I have 2 Wisycom wideband channels with the assortment of COS11-D and DPA 4060 mics. If anything, feel free to refer low-no jobs so I can bid up the equipment and …

OK. While I'm writing that I'm still in shock. A producer calls me. Looking for someone with full equipment and 8 lavs. 20 days of shoot at Connecticut. $150 a day! Well I'm not shocked with the rate, neither with the 8 minimum lavaliers requirement for that price. I'm used to insane producers like many of us! He tells me there are multiple people that already accepted that rate for these requirements. (Still looking for someone?? so it's suspicious...) Who owns (Can't be rental. All the money will go to that) all that equipment, does intense job like "sound" for those rates and be fine?!

Well, I will be the first to try this out. I am looking for work. I do not have anything lined up until November, possibly even later, and I would like to know about movies that might be coming up before that time. As most of you know, I do primarily feature films and have not, as yet, gotten into the TV arena. Regards, Jeff Wexler

ROOT Sports Northwest & Seahawks All Access are looking to hire local boom operators, with equipment, for Seahawks road dates this season. We are interested in obtaining a quote for your services & equipment rental. The shoot is for a TV show called Seahawks All Access. You would be working with an ENG photographer who will supply you with a Lectrosonics transmitter to provide a "one way" wireless hop from your boom kit to the camera for a single system shoot with our Sony PDW-700 being the recorder. The gig is documenting pregame team activities, bench/sideline sound in game, and post game podium/locker room sound. There is a bit of run and gun hust…

Hi! I usually make myself known on the boards here when I'm cramming for another gig, which does happen from time to time. I'm rather new to this and nonetheless have the utmost curiosity and respect for the craft and standards of professionalism. I just wanted to more deliberately introduce myself, and to mention that I am quite actively prospecting production companies here in NYC. They may in turn forward me to their go-to sound people. If you hear from me or more particularly my assistant, Lane, please show her a warm welcome-she is a lovely person, and nonetheless I appreciate that she may be reaching you out of the blue. By necessity, I fleshed out my resum…

Needed: Professional Craftie with Gear and Supplies We're producing an award-ready feature based on my partner's experiences in college so far. Think "Twelve Angry Men" meets "Sleepless in Seattle" meets "Finding Nemo". But better. We've already got a DP attached with plenty of TV and corporate experience, and will be shooting on a red camera made by Nikon. Our sound guy has the same great equipment he uses for big-name cover bands in clubs. We'll be shooting over two weeks in various apartments downtown, with some possible outdoor scenes depending on weather and crowds. We need a craft service person who's done feature films. Professional quality, flexibility, and a c…

Hello, I'm new to this forum, and looking for advice and leads. I've been a union boom operator in Los Angeles since 1996, and have done just fine. I have no problem getting on a series or two each fall, the last really successful TV series I did was House MD, and a series I just worked on (About a Boy) is getting a second season starting this fall. I really do not need to go to NY to work, however, I met a girl at Burning Man, and not really expecting much, it turned into something special. And now we want to live together, but she's just launching her career as a photographer in NY, and she does not want to move to LA, so I've decided to try my fortune in NY. …
