Does anyone out there know a good mixer based in Scotland? A doc. project I'm currently helping to edit will have some shooting there later this year, in the summer and early fall, and I'd like to be able to connect the filmmaker with a good audio person. This will involve some verité situations, some b-roll stuff, some musical moments and possibly some interview set-ups...in other words, the type of stuff we always do. Affability, good gear and a solid resumé are required. If you know of someone, please let me know. Dates and rates TBD, but it's not a freebie. Thanks, Dan Gleich 415-517-2880 lessmos@gmail.com

Hey all. I'm sorry if this question doesn't quite belong in this section of the website. I'm wondering, where do you guys look for work? I know the usual suspects like Mandy, CL, etc. but where do you guys find your gigs? Most of my work lands in my lap from referrals or old postings and previous clients but I want to expand my network and I could use a lead or two. Thanks in advance! -TAS

I'm not sure whether I'm posting this because it is about a corner of our industry, or about government waste and/or interference, or movie permitting process and fees ..?? on union shoots we do have a "medic". Faced with a new law requiring condoms during porn shoots, Los Angeles officials have recommended that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the City Council begin searching for a medical professional to conduct inspections of adult film performances. In a report issued Wednesday, a working group focused on ways to enforce the new condom ordinance said Film L.A. Inc., the office that processes film permits, should rework its applications so passages that discuss h…

Hey everyone. Experienced sound mixer/boom op/A2 returning from a long hiatus. Did ten years of production in LA (including a few days with Wexler)! Been out of the business for a while, but looking to get back to work in a hurry. Currently living in Winston-Salem, NC, but willing to travel anywhere. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the big get together next weekend in ATL. Love to talk to you about any upcoming projects. Sold my gear a while back, but will be slowly building up a kit again, and happy to rent for now. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer! i wouldnt normally advertise a freebie gig, but my good friend is looking for a soundie from 30th of aug to the 2nd of sept for a doc about 70s and 80s british comedy in Blackpool. will be mainly sit-downs with the likes of Cannon and Ball and others of their ilk. travel, (decent) accommodation and good food will be provided. was supposed to be doing this myself, but sadly a job was pulled forward. these are good people and i 100% endorse them and their film. if you are at a loose end and fancy a good laugh for 4 days, then email hankstarrs@mac.com . further info can be found herehttp://funnybonefilm.wordpress.com/
