Hi All, So I was approached about building a 7 pin lemo cable to go between a redrock basestation and a microremote torque motor. My guy wants a thin, flexible cable, which is all well and good - however Redrock inform me that the current draw of the microremote motor can be up to 0.7 amps. I'm pretty sure that rules out using a nice thin 5core AWG33 w/sheild cable from mogami. Anyone got any magic, problem solving knowledge of a 2mm OD 5 core + shield cable stock that is rated for 0.7 amps? Apologies if any of this is gobbledygook - I'm not fully conversant when it comes to cameras. I've been looking online for a while for a suitable cable stock but thought …

One unit all gear/wiring power. I am trying to 3d print one piece wireless holder that attaches to the Nomad or Maxx. Ideally the NP1 Cup will be a part of the skeleton. PLEASE ZAXCOM MAKE ONE UNIT NOMAD/RX12. Again ideally the NP1 Cup will be a part of the wireless skeleton. Easy access to wiring which is not a big deal when I can take the o…

hey guys So my kit has two Sony UWP series Wireless Mic Kits. These are only powered by two AA batteries. I know higher end receivers can be externally powered by a DC cable and a BDS system, but unfortunately the Sony's don't have a DC power jack. I'm wondering if there's a way to have a DC wire going into "dummy batteries" that would then power the receivers. I could then hook up the DC to my BDS. Here's what I'm working with: NP1 style battery, Hawk-Woods NP cup/BDS (Its the NPC-SQ4NS). The NP then powers a Sound Devices 302, and Sound Devices 702T from the Hawk-Wood's 4 pin hirose outputs. I basically want a wire that goes from the Hirose outpu…

Okay. In making a multi-connector cable, what are the pros and cons of sharing ground connections? For example, in a 5-pin XLR (say for an Alexa input), the two balanced connections share a common ground (pin 1). Is there a reason to separate the grounds when possible in a multi-core cable (say, 6 balanced channels into a single D-sub) or is it okay to tie them all together? Thanks for any input.

Great News. I just spoke with Glenn and it turns out the qrx200 antenna connection can be easily rerouted to the bottom of the unit for people who use antenna distribution. That will allow for better cable management and cleaner front/top for great button access. The qrx200 already has 2 holes for IFB TC and Audio so it should be very easy to install the sma. Moving the qrx200 antenna sma to the bottom will allow me to make a One Unit Nomad, 4 qrx200s and a micplexer with common front panel.

So I just wired up my brand new pigtailed Sanken CUB-01 for my G3s and it sounds out of phase. I asked the guys at Trew Audio if they heard this before but they haven't (I followed their wiring recommendation). So here I am asking you all if you have encountered this? And if so how did you remedy (besides flipping phase at the mixer)? Is there a way to flip the phase in the locking 3.5mm connector? Thanks in advance

last week one of my erx's took a hit while a client was wearing it and the lcd screen was cracked. what a travesty. the client is paying for it of course. almost $200 With all the shipping. it was in a bodyglove case which i know is certainly not bulletproof but i didnt realize the screens could get damaged so easily. i went to a hardware store and bought a sheet of lexan and i am now cutting them into small pieces for ea erx in my kit and even though it is overkill i am also going to cut pieces for every receiver in my bag as well. SRB screens can get pretty easily dinged and the qrx lcd's all appear to be the same lcd's as the erx's. drawing the line at trx's though sin…

I seem to remember someone modding their Mix-12 with either a fluorescent or LED mini strip in order to backlight the built in keyboard. What did you use? Thanks, Mathew Price

Hello all, Doesn anyone know the pin config (or schematics if not simple pin to pin connection) for the link cable to join together 2x Wendt X5 mixers? "The 5 pin connector marked LINK allows two X5 mixers to be cross-linked which yields a full 10 channel mix with 8 line outputs". Thanks, Stephen

I am making 2 Y cables for Epic from ERX1tcd. Lemo 4 pin tc goes to the Tip. I want to send the Ring to the Epic 3.5 Left or right audio input at line level. There is a lot of conflicting information and plenty of troublesome reports from the field. Some people say you need the A-BOX from woodencamera.com or the epic will not record sound. What would be the correct wiring for the 3.5 red audio input? And also will the TC bleed in to the audio when they both share ground? Senator's hat not an option since my shoot is early morning on Monday. I insisted on a test run on Sunday which might happen but still would like to have the cables ready. Thanks

I'd like to replace my ENG multicable with a new one. I'd prefer to make a star quad multicable. What's the thinnest, most flexible (also in cold weather) 3 or 4 core cable?

Wanted to use my camera link kit with a client I do a lot of work with who owns a Red Epic. A few days ago, I built output cables for use with an Epic or Scarlet. I completed the cables, and later was in a panic when it hit me that my QRX was line level output only. Silly me as I knew this already having RTFM'ed quite a bit, but blocked that factoid out for some reason. Glad it hit me now and not standing next to the camera on set. This was my project from this morning in preparation for a job next Monday/Tuesday. I cut the previously made cables (yikes) 6" down from the ta5f connectors. used scrap ta3 connector parts for a strain relief of sorts, as well as scrap ta5f …

I have a Remote Audio TA3-dual XLR I'm chopping up to put a TA5 on. How does one go about wiring these? I have the diagram for the TA5 (Rean RT5FC-B ) but don't know where to assign the hot/commons and ground for each channel. Searched/looked online and couldn't find much. Thanks.

Hey everyone, I am wondering what the possibilities are of using the hirose power connector on the 633 as an outlet.. I have heard rumours that it is possible to use pins 2 and 3 to draw power from the L series batteries in certain recorders, I am wondering how much truth there is in these.. I haven't been able to find anything remotely useful regarding this, except for what I already knew that pin 1 is negative and pin 4 is positive.. Am I correct in assuming that as you can't charge the L series using external power whilst being plugged into the 633, there may not be the circuitry in place to allow power to pass through pins 2 and 3 on the hirose? An…

Hi all, i'm currently making some adapters to use Sennheiser Evolution terminated mikes into Lectrosonic tx. Yes i've RTFM ;-) of both lectro and senny and cabled as this: SLEEVE and RING to pin one TIP to pin three Jumped pin 2 to pin 4 Pin 5 is unconnected Now i'm noticing a huge drop in gain from the mikes... i need to crank the gain to maximum to get proper levels from my UM200C. Can anyone please confirm that the pinout is correct?

So far this is the best case and headphone combo i have found for the erx that withstands client abuse. Might help with erx headphone connector damage I hear folks having to deal with: - Sony MDR-210 Headphones - bought these and cut them 2' from connector to cut back cable slack - added Neutrik 1/8" stereo right angle connector - Body Glove EZ View LARGE smartphone case (I ordered 10 online, 4 of which were LARGE and 6 were MEDIUM. the larger size allows better protection and full screen view. request LARGE if possible). The headphone cable length seems to be perfect for belt clip and handheld listening with minimal cable snag. The right angle connector combine…

I know there is no way this is an original idea, but working with all these side input cameras, i was thinking about right angle XLR adapters as an option, vs making complete custom cables and pigtails in all the various configurations i have on hand. Has anyone come across anything like this or ventured to fabricate, similar to the DIY XLR connector thread? i am envisioning a hybrid combo of neutrik right angle male XLR connectors combined with standard straight female connectors. trying to keep them a solid piece, as small and low profile as possible but also maintaining the ability to change angle in the field for different XLR input positions. Has anyone come acro…
