Like @INARI, I tried to use an Arduino as a keyboard emulator to control my MixPre 6- I want to build a remote that will start and stop the MP6 and my Blackmagic camera simultaneously. Sound Devices is doing something funky with their USB keyboard protocol and nothing I tried would make the MP6 recognize the Arduino; SD's response was that they couldn't give me any info on the USB spec as it was "engineering data." And that's when I got medieval… I found an old USB keyboard that worked with the MP6, then hacked it apart and traced the switch connections to find what contacts needed to close to get the proper keystrokes. I added a couple optoisolate…

Oh if it is kind of against the rules or something remove it, as for now im just a guy that made a charger for the moment so.... i am not selling them as a company. as of yet. (or maybe ever who knows) Here a small video about my charger. not so much specially made for this forum so ignore the explaining of why the use of np50's etc, i make videos often for things i like to make myself (loudspeaker related) so it is more for the people that watch my channel. but some of you might be interested to see how it operates... i dont know https://youtu.be/J60hAgsFz7w Greetings Joppe. .

Mixpre-10T's joystick controller often deviate. and it cannot be record and stop at appropriate timing. Other day,I found some arcade game button and lever sold at video game shop. https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=ja&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tops-game.jp%2Fproducts%2Flist.php%3Fcategory_id%3D115&edit-text=&act=url and I tried to build HID button with adafruit trinket. Working so far so good in Windows and Macintosh. Although it is recognized as a generic HID device in Computers. But did not work with MixPre-10T. Seems there is USB-Host compatibility problem in Trinket. http…

Like many on the forum, I make most of my own cables. I recently found something that has made it a bit easier to solder some types of connectors. It is a bit pricey, but has saved some burnt/hot fingers. It is a rather nice block of silicon so it's not going to melt at solder temperatures. I have no vested interest in the product, just a satisfied customer. YMMV

So a friend of mine and me are making a portable set without any bag. so rigid mounted to be used on your belly or trowed on a cart First a wooden prototype since i dont like to spend allot of expensive materials on testing and shuffling around holes components and such. Thats good since i changed rather much Then the final material, the material is a composite from aluminum and HDPE foam, witch makes it rather light and still quit stiff., it has been cut on my CNC. In between the Cantar and the frame there is an aluminum bar that prevents the Cantar from faling if somehow the composite material would fail. the hooks from the harnas …

Has anyone sourced a Line Socket (to go on a cable rather than a panel) that mates with the Lemo connector used on mics wired for pro-series Sennheiser, Zaxcom, or Lectro SSM transmitters? Even Lemo's online tech support seem confused by which model matches the keyways etc. If you've found one that works, can you please share the model number? I need to make some adapters for mics wired for Senn Lemo, to plug into Lectrosonics PDRs. I can't swap or re-wire the mics. I've seen the Kortwitch solid-body adapters that Gotham sells, they work but the overall length of the plug plus adapter is a problem sticking out the top of the pack, so I'd prefer to make adapters with an in…

Hi, So I am a stage performer (Illusionist/Mentalist). The events I perform at vary so greatly with sound that I decided to take things into my own hands... hopefully. Here's a horrible mockup: My sound requirements are: 1. Headset Mic for me. 2. Handheld Mic for volunteers. 3. Music played from an iPad. Unfortunately, I often work at banquet halls where the client has hired a DJ who's system is very barebones (as most DJ systems are). It's not their fault. They usually don't have a need for a complicated system. Oftentimes, they will only have 1 input for me to use... and it's RCA 😵. I …

I'm building a right angle DC cable that goes from my Audio Root distro to my Cedar DNS-2. The wall wart that shipped with the DNS-2 was built with 22AWG. In the wall wart graveyard, I found some 24AWG and some 18AWG, but no 22AWG. In a quick search of the site here, I found advice regarding 22-24 being fine..but my question is: Could I make this DC cable build a bit sturdier? I was wondering if it was okay to do the build with the 18AWG. Any advice for my build here? Thanks for any help, Rachel

I built this rig out of necessity for jobs that require me to be harnessed up but also feed a video village multiple headsets. Thought this might be helpful to fellow do it yourselfer's. Allows the use of erx's and Comteks simultaneously eliminating the whine caused by 2.4 GHz transmission in close by comtek transmitters. Definitely gives extended range over standard Comtek whip antenna. Currently mounted on a standard microphone stand but also can be mounted on a C stand with another 5/8 adapter i built -Ken

How the idea came about… Until recently I was barely aware of what the current state of 3D printing technology was. I assumed that any type of audio accessory I could think of would have been either too complex or too expensive to print. And even if the tech was cheaper than I thought, I wouldn’t have had any idea of how 3D printing could have serviced field recording. That was until one day a colleague at the game studio I work for started an e-mail thread explaining how modern printers are capable of not only creating fairly complex shapes reliably, but also allow for more flexible plastics to be used. …

I have a simple bluetooth speaker with a 3.5 mm input but no volume control. I would like to add a pot on the outside of speaker. Needs to be water proof. Anybody have any suggestions for a simple volume control/potentiometer that is also water proof? I do not have good head for this kind of tech... j

Hello Brains Trust, I have checked the manuals for the zaxcom Deva 24 and Mix 16 but I can not find the pin configuration for the TA5 slate microphone output on the Mix 16. The Trs input for the Deva 24 is sleeve ground ring - tip +. Wiring the TA5 1 sleeve 2 to tip 3 to ring, gives us level but has a loud hum interference sound. We have also tried with no connection on pin 3 with the exact same issue. Any thoughts? Regards Matthew

I recently bought a Comtek M-216 transmitter (not option 7 version) and it didn't come with a LW-216 1/4 whip antenna. I naively thought it would be easy enough to pick one up online...but think again. It is exceptionally hard to track one down. The Comtek distributor here in Montreal, Studio Economik, can put it on order but they only do orders for Comtek stuff when they need a few things so it could be weeks before they even put in the order. Trew in Toronto same deal plus the extra postage and wait time for it to bunny hop through Toronto before it gets to me. Sadly Remote Audio do not make an antenna with the 2.5mm jack. Nothing on ebay. Exasperated I think I'll try t…

Hi folks - I've been putting together my sound van for a while, modifying a Dodge Ram 2016 Promaster City. I'm sure others have done similar things, but I haven't been able to find builds specific to our industry (lots of stuff for handymen etc). Still have lots to do: - marine battery hookup for laptop and charging station powering - ramp for the cart - possible hookup for receiver fins - wifi network for files and security I'd love to see/hear what others have done, and get any advice on what I still have left to do. For context, I'm working smaller scale commercial shoots, docs, low/medium budget films, music. If I was on higher budge…

Has anyone had any luck opening an np-l7s battery without cracking/bending or tearing apart the plastic casing? I have one that works fine but has something rattling around inside so I want to get in there. I know there’s the 4 screws but is the plastic bonded together as well? If you’ve had luck - what was your method? If this has been discussed before I couldn’t find any answers. Thanks

I've seen a few people using Sennheiser stereo IEM transmitters in bag/cart mode powered from the bag, not mains. What size or part number is the power connecter to go into the transmitter? In my case EW 300 IEM G3. Does the cable need to be regulated to 12v? I'd imagine the TX could handle 16v but the manual states only use the supplied mains unit. I am powering my bag using Hi-Q batteries with either an Audioroot BG-DU or BG-DH. Couldn't find this information in their manual or online. I have no knowledge on how to make a cable that regulates/limits the power, so if that is required it may …

Greetings , I want to use a couple of my unused SNA antennas to transmit from Comtek BST 75-216 transmitters. If I extend the length of the arms from maximum length to a 1/4 wave or 1/2 wave of 216MHZ wavelength, this should work? I don't have formula, but can extrapolate from existing antennas I have. Is there a work around for this, or is there a shop out there who could do this? AND... The answer is: REMOTE AUDIO MIRACLE WHIP MW216 KIT Best regards, Jim Rillie PSM

I'm looking at what could be a good deal on some 4061s that are hardwired to Sennheiser TRS, and I'd like to redo them in Senn/AudioLtd/Wisy/Lectro SSM-compatible 3-pin Lemo. From what I've researched a bit, one would need the right connector to get the right cable diameter for the strain relief to work properly. Any clues on the right connector and a European source?

Two hip replacements in the past two years and still needing to work, has required some thinking about work habits. Most of my jobs are bag related, very few with a larger mix panel, so my search led me to the various commercial offerings along with mixer op built bag carts. My criteria being weight, size, and cost. One aspect was I didn't want to reinvent the wheel, so I went with a ready made aluminum cart. For ease in building along with the ability to perform modifications I chose to use the 1" extruded aluminum product. There are a number of companies selling this type of product all over the world, 8020, T-Slots, Parker, Bosch, Mainframe, Item, Mayhew and o…

After seeing @KGraham045's headphones here with a removable cable I wanted to do the same to my HD-25s. There isn't enough room in the headphone cup for a jack. A quick search online turned up someone that had already done this with a 3d printed jack holder and was kind enough to share the print file. A little printing, a little soldering, and: I forgot how fun it is working with Sennheiser's stainless steel cables…
