Ok so I think I have tried everything and I just want to make sure that I am nor completely crazy. I use an r1a as a hop sometimes to the Alexa XT and Red scarlet/epic cameras. No matter how I wire it, I always have to pull out the trs connector on the r1a halfway in order to get some signal through to these cameras. I followed all the wiring diagrams for both cameras from their respective manuals, and probably everything inbetween, made balanced and unbalanced cables, and I am getting the same result or nothing at all. I read in the Lectrosonics manual that the r1a has an auto switching circuit that 'senses' that its a mono or stereo cable, and turns off the ring circuit…

Chap on another list was asking about something like this. I put one together this afternoon from bits and pieces. Black Rapid Fasten R-3, thread converter (1/4" to 3/8") and a snap-hook. I know a length of shot-cord is cheaper, but this seemed like an elegant solution. Best wishes, John

I am considering to do a mod with sennheiser evolution wireless to replace the jack input with lemo 3 connector, does any one did this before? My plan would be purchase a LEMO 3 female connector spare part from sennheiser, and replace it on the G2 transmitter. http://spares.sennheiser.co.uk/wireless-3000-5000-series/sk-2000/sk2000-lemo-connector-3-pin-female-socket.html Any idea if this could works? Thanks..

I was recently injured earlier this year in a car accident (broke both legs, right wrist, sternum and ribs) and am trying to take it easy. I’m trying to build a relatively small foot print colapseable bag cart to not have to have my bag strapped to me all day. Yeaterday I was on a job (not using my gear) in a statium and the client had me carry around a fully loaded bag with a crappy Pertol Harness (664/CL-6 in an orca) with 4 411s and 2 Hops just to boom (unusable audio due to music from the statium.) I asked nicely why I can’t just go hardlined to camera (we had a wireless Hop and I gaurentee thatd be what they’d use). But he wanted the wav files???? O…

somewhere on jwsoundgroup i saw someone post a photo of upgraded wheels that looked similar to the mounting style of the ones on my 1560 - only they were better quality inline skate style and required added bumpers to level out, etc. cant seem to find it. i dont quite need the all terrain style of the 2750 wheels in the other discussion thread but somewhere in between those and what i have now would be nice. checked google ebay case suppliers etc but no luck so far. I've recently picked up an HMA for a project and will be making a couple low profile cables to go from the mic end to the plug on which will be at the top of the pole. Whats your preferred cable gauge for this? Already have some Canare L-4E6S, but was considering a thinner gauge star quad cable for an even smaller profile. Would the thicker cable gauge provide better shielding against potential RF interference? Im sure it has its plus's for being more resistant to wear and tear. Curious as to what others have been doing.

I have an older QX5100 that came with internal cabling when I bought it used in like new condition. I began to like straight internal cabling for various applications but this still brings disadvantages. Most annoying is the cable management, when you have a TX on the bottom of the boom, but also noise when the cable is bouncing in the boom when fully expanded. Since the cable that came with it got stuck a lot, mistreated and crincled the boom needed a new cable. The boom was also on a beach catching some blowing sand and it was time for some new velours as it also started to squeak with heavy load. As all that maintenance was due anyway, I've asked a friend to…

I am building a power system for my "soon to be" first cart. I use AC power 9 times out of 10 (while on the cart), so I plan on using an AC-DC converter (possibly this-http://www.powergatellc.com/mean-well-rs-150-15-power-supply.html) to power a 788T/CL8, Lectro VR Field, an occasional extra UCR411 and my Zaxcom stereo transmitter. but, I want to use my Goldmount 6ah batteries as a backup supply incase of a kickout or no available grid power. My question is- Can I do this without damaging (sending 15 volts/10 amps) to my Li-ion batteries? I don't want to charge the batteries (or make them explode!), I just want to use them as a backup supply. If the …

I've read the documentation for the pinouts going into an iPad (4 pin mini TRRS), but my question has to do with attenuating the signal: According the the Movie Slate website, one should look to attenuate the TC signal by about -22db so it doesn't overload the mic input. Anyone know what rated resistor would do this? Would I just wire it inline of the hot signal and leave the ground untouched? Thanks, -Greg-

I've heard that you can get Comtek to mod M-216 transmitter to have the BNC antenna connector so it essentially becomes an Option P7. Has anyone done this mod themselves? How do you open the transmitter case without breaking it. Does anyone know the part number for the BNC connector?

I was sick of my Zaxcom CL3 spraying into my RX so I build a dipole antenna and hat I can stick on my harness. It works great and weighs practically nothing!

Hi everyone, I am looking for a cheap/diy solution to power 2 neumann KM184 out of 9v batteries. The goal is to ste up a wireless ORTF couple. The couple is going to remain on stand, so I don't need a compact/superclean box, but I need a sound quality comparable to this : http://www.areitec.fr/areitec-pico48-phantom-power-adaptor-zaxcom-wireless-produit-395.html even though I can't afford an audio transformer. I have 2 lectrosonics Smqv transmitters to feed but according to Lectrosonics datas I can't draw sufficient current from it. I recently used one of those gadgets http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/840641-REG/IK_Multimedia_IP_IRIG_PRE_IN_iRig_Pre_Microphone_I…

Has anyone modified a Sennheiser HMD26 headset to auto mute the microphone when the mic boom arm is lifted? A client was offered this pre-installed by Sennheiser but it can't source the required circuit board anymore. Any suggestions and/or previous experience appreciated. Thanks

Has anyone of you done one? Planning to do some. Short ones, lemo to xlr (from there, if needed i can extend and adapt...) I would put the resistors in the xlr plug, should work, no? Why is the "loop" from ground, around audio?

I have been using a lot my Lectro HM plug as a wireless boom and i love the quality and how convenient it is. What i was wondering is, would it be possible to modify it as to have a split that can go into a pair of headphones? Thus creating a direct monitoring for the boom op?

I recently acquired a Whirlwind MD1, which is essentially what a Sound Devices MM-1 is, with some differences of course. It features a Mic/Line input, Line out, and Headphone out, and is powered by two 9V batteries. Curiously, it has 18V Phantom power, which is a bit confusing for me, because this would greatly limit the usage one could have for the device, since most mics that need phantom power are designed not necessarily to need a full 48V, but to have some headroom. Is there a way to mod this device to provide a "normal" 48V Phantom Power? I hear many people say that the 9V system wouldnt work for a full 48V, but I am reminded that the Denecke Phantom Power devi…

Hi, I’d had a 4061 repaired by somebody a few years ago as it had been damaged at the capsule end. The repair held up for a little bit but eventually died again. at that point I gave it a go myself and have done a pretty solid repair of the mic now. the only thing is that the guy who did the original repair had removed the material(looks almost like wax) that DPA pot the capsule in. I’m looking to use the repaired mic as a “beater” mic for salt water shoots(I’ve got to mic up a jetski in a few weeks’ time), but I worry that my exposed solder joints won’t take too kindly to the prolonged exposure to salt water, no matter how ca…
