Hi everyone , I need to built few cables for BlackMagic Pocket 6k Camera to feed audio from Sennheiser RX to Camera (it has TA3-M connector and can also provide +48V) Mini jack TRS ——> TA3-M I feel that normal wiring 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 would not work. That I would need to solder it as most Sennheiser RX where XLR end has negative and ground connected. Positive (2) connected to the TRS tip . whats your thoughts ?

I have some cables which need their ends/connector swapped. Mostly XLR and TA5 (mini-XLR). I supply the connectors and cables. May I please get a newbie "without-an-income" rate? Thanks!

I came across a marine voltmeter with two USB ports and I knew I had to make a BDS with it. I've been using batteries with a USB port built-in. I thought why have the ports in the battery and have to duplicate them (plus having to swap cables during a battery change) when they should be external. You may have seen this, but it's new to me. I bought it more for the USB ports than the voltage meter. But the display a nice bonus. The toggle is a locking switch so it won't accidentally switch off. The input is on the side. I use non-locking connectors. The 5.1/2.1 connectors make very solid connections and I'd rather not mess with the lock if I don't need to, wh…

Asking as I encountered someone who was using the grommeted sides of two BBG's, taped together, to make something that would cover a pair of Sennheiser MKH 800's for DMS or Blumlien use. It struck me one could possibly use a single BBG and mount a second grommet, and I wonder how treacherous an operation that might be. I don't know what happens when you pierce the internal fabric, nor how fragile the frame is under cutting pressure, getting the grommet mounted, etc. I'm told Rycote won't sell a version like this, likely doesn't meet their desired protection spec. You could of course do this with a standard longer mono windscreen, but I'm thinking about something w…

Hi, I have a Teac r1000, which is 4 track 2 channels, and have restored the transport to good working condition. My plan is to use it as a delay, so am searching for full track mono heads for it. If I do find compatible heads, would the circuit in the preamp section of the deck for the three heads most likely need modifications, or could I simply use one of the 2 channels to work with the mono head by making the necessary calibration adjustments? Thanks, Rodrigo

Hello, does anyone has successful experiences of wiring cable of Wisycom MTP40S to PHA48 adapter? I carefully read through the manual, there has nothing of the wiring method.

Hi, I'm using a Senn MKH50/30 MS rig with connbox > 5pin to dual 3pin XLR > MixPre6. My 5pin to dual 3pin XLR cable broke, so I'm trying to make a new one before recording today. I've wired it exactly like the old one, and as far as I can tell, exactly as I should according to the internet, and yet, when I MS decode my file after recording, it doesn't sound correct. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've attached pictures of my cable, and a sound clip of the decoded MS stereo file, in case hearing it helps. I've also tried rewiring the 5pin so that the positives and negatives are reversed, but that didn't fix it. mi…

Hi folks. I've got two of the following do-dads with problems: https://ambient.de/en/product/emp5s/ Apparently whatever they use to hold the TA-5 bit in place is not very rugged, and after a while it starts to rotate loose. I've got one where the TA-5 rotated so much that a wire inside snapped, and another I'm babying because the TA-5 is loose, but it's still working for the time being. Problem is I cannot figure out how these things come apart. The XLR end is stamped as a Neutrik "NC*MX-HD", and it looks for all the world like the black collar should rotate off the silver barrel, but I can't get it to budge. And I also don't see any set-screws anywhere,…

Quick question to brains trust, I’m wanting to make a BNC antenna cable to go from my VR Field receiver up (approx) a 3 metre mast to my SNA 600 antenna. So just wondering what would be the best cable to use for this set up? I’m currently using a 4 metre cable of Altronic W2230 RG58C/U 50 OHM MIL-C-17, which I’ve a feeling may not be the best. Thanks guys, look forward to any suggestions. cheers, scott

i’ve built this 12volt power distribution box for my cart, so for I’ve got power coming direct from the battery(lead acid sealed) direct to the 4pin xlr’s with a on/off switch, now everything seems to running ok. But I’m wondering what components I’ve should have in there regards to short circuits, clean power etc. As I say it’s a very basic design but I don’t seem to have any problem with noise etc. But anyone can help point me in the right direction for adding the right components would be a great help. I’m ok with a soldering iron as I make all my own cable etc.

I've got a gig coming up where I'm going to use my NT-SF1 to record a music performance in surround and want to get some more distance between the mic and my bag. I reached out to Rode technical support and they were kind enough to give me the mic pinout, which is on a Neutrik 10 pin XLR. Much easier than beeping out the breakout cable I got my box o' parts from Redco today. 10 pin XLRs and a hunk of TGS-04: Done an hour later, checked out fine. Not the most difficult connectors I've worked on but took some planning to figure out the best connection order. Tested perfectly with the mic, now I have a nice 25' extension!

Maybe this is of interest for some here. Here is how I turned an ordinary Sennheiser G3 receiver to function as an IEM, have appropriate levels and have sound in both ears for around 30 bucks. TLTR Behringer P2 Hopefully it is interesting for anyone!

i'm about to put together a bunch of TC cables, and was wondering about ground. for example, the TC LEMO 5-pin pinout from the SD633 is: 1 = ground 2 = SMPTE TC in 3 = ASCII in/out 4 = tuning out 5 = SMPTE TC out so, using a single conductor cable, i'll connect LEMO pin 5 to the DIN conductor pin for my uni-directional cable for feeding TC from my SD633 to UltraSync One. but i'm wondering if it's necessary (or at least wise/best practice) to connect LEMO pin 1 to the cable shield for grounding? or is that totally unnecessary?

I’m going to build a cable for audio in on the Arri Mini. It uses the R/A Lemo FHG.00.305.CLAD35Z. Max cable diameter is .38mm. 4 conductor with a shield. What cable are you guys using? I've built cables for years and suddenly find myself doubting this simple cable. I’m going to built a cable for scratch audio Comtek/R1a hop to camera - 3.5mm to male XLR. I might use Comtek, or R1a. A Tip Sleeve would be preferred over a Tip Ring Sleeve because of the Comtek, yea? 3.5mm Tip to XLR Pin 2 3.5mm Sleeve to XLR Pin 1 Float pin 3 or ground it? TIA

I think anyone of you knows this document https://www.lectrosonics.com/phocadownload/ammkit_td.pdf I am quite confused by the numbers, I need to cut antennas for a Sennheiser 2000 SMA modded in range gw (558 -626), and want to cut at perfect length corresponding at 590 Mhz, the math tells me that 300/590 is 50.08 cm:4 is 12,7 cm, but on this paper, the block 23 is 4,24" that is 10.7 cm, 2 centimeters less. almost 1 inch. why?
