Hello group, I did a search that came up with nothing, so I'd like to post this question. I found this company online selling EMF/RF shielding fabrics. http://www.lessemf.com/fabric.html What I would like to make is a pouch for my 788t to minimize it's RF-emissions into my Audio Ltd. 2040 receivers.. I allready took all other precautions like recorder on different power-source than receivers, connect receivers to the 788t's mini-xlrs instead of the standard xlr's.., increased the distance between the recorder and the receivers by screwing the CL8 on top leaving the 788t direct to the body and placing the receivers in the outer-front receiver-pouch in my soundbag…

I have a VDB that I bought in the mid 90's and both of the larger sections have always been stiff. Does anyone know how to take one of these apart? I want to see what is binding.

So, I just put together this cart last week for a show I started this week. It's working pretty well so far, but the main issue is that its top heavy and the wheels don't seem to be spaced the right way in order to support the weight when pushing. Of course pushing from the smart wheels side is easier, but it's tough getting it moving from a static position. I was thinking to maybe outrig the smart wheels so they are a little further out from the base, as well as getting some larger back wheels to help getting over bumps and such. Anyone have and thoughts or ideas on how to get this done? Thanks so much! Steve

I was looking for a solution to have my soundblankets set up in a fast, easy, lightweight way without spending a fortune. Here is what I have found: my 8 blankets are 2mx1,80m. Folded 1 time makes them thicker and even more effective but can be used unfolded if I need to treat larger spaces. Use fiber bares for tents crossed and slipped into the 4 corners (X-point is fixed). Use cheap mic-stands fully extended to hold the whole thing up in the air (using the O-ring in the mid). All you need to borrow are some sand-bags from grip to secure the stands. If you wanna treat a hard surface (wall) you don´t even need the stands. Just lean them against the wal…

This is my new attempt to kill two birds with one stone: add a voltmeter and 5v USB output to my bag. Problem #1. I use a Hawkwoods DV-SQN4S battery distro in my bag. I power my gear (Maxx, 2x411a) from the switchable, regulated 12v outputs. For my meager power needs, I can usually get through a day with a single set of batteries. HOWEVER it would be reassuring to have some insight into remaining battery life. Problem #2. The most frequent power issue I run into is.... my iPhone. Rarely makes it through the day if I've used it for navigation to get to the shoot and if I'm using MovieSlate for sound reports. There are some nice looking hirose-to-usb options out the…

Went on a tech survey the week before shooting started and found out the director really wanted to shoot in front of this fountain. Especially loud because the water lands on cement, not just into a pool of water. Production told me they completely understood the challenge that would pose for me, so they fully expected to have to ADR the scene. But, I love a challenge. So I did a little research and slapped these together on the weekend in my garage. The center is the foam from an old mattress and the black stuff wrapped around it is some water filter material used in the backyard pond industry. I looked at air filter material but I could only find …

hi all, for a wildlife documentary, i am researching possibilities for longtime mic-installations in full out weather... as this sounds like quite a contradiction, i wonder if anyone of you has experience to share regarding this topic. the mics ( at least the capsules ) will be high up in trees, installed by crane, as are some endoscopic cameras. everything is cabled down to ground for signal, powering etc. once breeding season starts, we cant get close anymore. i am posting in the diy section, because i think the solutions from the shelf will not work here....

Has anybody seen these in person? I was looking at another type of tool cart for a home use, and these came up in a search. Got me thinking, as interesting carts usually do. The two models seem like they could be easily adapted to our needs. Adding larger wheels would be my immediate improvement. I know people have discussed tool chests/carts as follow carts before, but the welding carts seem to be just slightly more suitable to what we do. The handles, work surface on top, and flat area between the large wheels (to mount boom pole cups on) seem pretty nice. Could be a wobbly piece of junk though for that price.... http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200395…

Not that this would necessarily be a DIY, but has anyone heard of modding an x5 to have direct outs? I'm building a new bag and keeping an x5/fr-2 bag for back-up/"b" kit, but I'd get more mileage out of it if it had the direct outs.

I've got a shoot coming up where I need to hook my LMa up to the truck for talent IFB. I'm betting the truck can send me a dry line. However, they have not yet found a truck, so I can't talk to them to confirm. I'm hoping someone can help me with a schematic to make a wet/dry XLR adapter cable. Thanks!

So I want to go from the two TA3 outputs on a SRb to the TA5 input on my Nomad (the "return" TA5 inputs). Any suggestions for what cable will fit in the TA connectors, especially because I need to make a Y cable and fit 2 cables in one of the TA ends. Thinking what is thin enough to fit in that kind of setup, but also rugged enough for my bag rig. Ideally I would love some way to make an "h" cable so I have a single line going from the Nomad to the SRb, then a little leg to the other TA3, but I don't see that working with the size of the TA connectors.

Ok, so I've decided to build my first sound cart but since I'm still a newbie I'm not quite sure what the "ideal cart" would have. So, would you guys be so generous as to share your thoughts as to things I should consider in my build? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

I was wondering if anyone knew where you could buy the coiled cable that you find on some XLRs. I wanted to make a few cables with it.

does anyone know where to buy the threaded 1/8" mono connector that are used for the lectro MM's? trying to make an adaptor to go from Ta5 to the threaded cable for an MM200 that will work with a standard mc30/40 for hops as well as standard lectro ta5 lav connector. The adaptors I have now don't work with any mc30/40/41s I've tried.

I think anyone of you knows this document https://www.lectrosonics.com/phocadownload/ammkit_td.pdf I am quite confused by the numbers, I need to cut antennas for a Sennheiser 2000 SMA modded in range gw (558 -626), and want to cut at perfect length corresponding at 590 Mhz, the math tells me that 300/590 is 50.08 cm:4 is 12,7 cm, but on this paper, the block 23 is 4,24" that is 10.7 cm, 2 centimeters less. almost 1 inch. why?

So I have these sennheiser g2 packs lying around and decided to attempt a wireless timecode system with them. I built a lemo-1/8th cable to output from my fusion, and took the sensitivity down to -30 on the transmitter. Meters read a solid -10 or so when plugged in. The receiver is getting the signal cleanly with no hits, and when outputted to a ts-c in read mode, it will scroll if you touch the chassis of the lemo connector. If you do not touch the chassis, it will lock a static number once and not scroll. In gen mode it does nothing. The ultimate goal is to wirelessly jam a red camera, but the red won't flash its little chain symbol and it shows no indication of com…
