Hi. I need to connect my SD 788T with a Panasonic AG-AF100P to synchronize Time Code. Camera as Master and 788T as slave, but I don't know where connect cable to the camera.

Just did some shooting on the EX3 this morning and only had the left channel coming back on my return. Seemed to be the same with headphones plugged in. Couldn't find an option for this in the manual on the audio routing or monitoring. Meters on the camera were happy and it was all there playing back over the speaker. Anyone else had this? Broken camera? Odd size jack?

Chater Camera, a local NorCal rental house, just posted a picture of a Pro I/O module that they received. To refresh our memory, Red says: ----- For advanced configurations, the PRO I/O MODULE attaches to the rear of your DSMC brain to provide a central hub for essential I/O connections. Professional I/O support for audio and video is critical for large productions and the PRO I/O MODULE bundles them conveniently into one compact DSMC module. Connections Include: 1x Genlock / PGM / Preview (BNC) 1x AES 2x 3-Pin XLR Input 1x 5-Pin XLR Output 1x Timecode (5-Pin Lemo) 1x GPIO (4-Pin Lemo) 1x Power (4-Pin Lemo) 1x AUX (10-Pin Lemo) 1x LCD/EVF Outp…

On these new breed of cameras, the front inputs are a 5 pins XLR-F, intended to use with an on-board stereo mic. Now I want to use that connector to receive two different signals : an on board mono mic, and the output of a receiver, at mic level obviously. The phantom power is always on the two inputs, but this shouldn't harm the receiver (which would be any Lectro model from 190 to 210d to 411, depending of the day) Now I tried with a Y cable I made, and no way to have any signal from a mono mic. Yes, the phantom power is on. I missed something. Any light ?

I will be doing a shoot this week with either a 60D or an EX3. Looking through the EX3 manual I see pics of the on-screen audio meters, but they seem to have no markings. Where on the meters do I wanna see my -20dBFS tone? Looking at the 60D manual, there is NO mention of audio in. Anyone have experience putting scratch on a 60D? Many thanks, B

Two red Epics on a movie in Alabama and despite all the quasi-negativity that's been bandied around here and elsewhere I must say it's been a pleasure so far. Time code jamming is easy, lockit box slates and all, although I have found that there's a three or four frame drift if I don't jam every three hours. The sound and picture is syncing just nicely and the picture quality is really awesome. The DP notwithstanding the footage is really pretty and the cameras really bring it pictorially. I worked with the Al;exa recently and for my money the price differential is not worth the picture difference which to my eye, (remember I'm a sound man) is negligible. Now let's talk a…

I mixed a pretty simple Under Armour spot last week, and while half the shoot was phantom flex footage of flame throwers, metal grinders and welders, the other half was interviews using 2 5D MK III... Which I have to say, put a little smile on my face. It now features 3 audio specific improvements that seem pretty good. 1. TIMECODE - it now has the ability to run as a master for TC... Unfortunately, not slave yet, but it proved helpful at some points... I didn't try to jam out of it to a slate yet, but I'm wondering if the headphone jack acts as a possible jam out. 2. Audio levels on main screen can be seen AND levels can be changed! I was running a G3 hop t…

I am a fairly green soundie, who usually works as boom or utility. Tomorrow I will be mixing some second unit coverage on the show I am currently on. I will be using a SD 302 and 2 lectros, and a boom. I'm going directly to camera via beta snake and I have never recorded straight to camera like this before. I guess I'm just looking for any advice in general and potential problems this setup could present. Thankyou

just started a shoot on epic and planned to send a scratch for dailies wireless to the cam. it turns out that its quite impossible to get a clean signal onto the cam because of rf trouble. the attached receiver displays a heavy rf signal as soon as the cam is switched on and the receiver comes close to the red. massive blasts of noise all over...... director, script etc get the same feed and their signal is clean. coming from a shoot with alexa, where the same setup worked without problems. just wanted to know if someone of you experienced something similar or succeeded in operating receivers on the epic best m

Just wanted to pass this on for what help it might bring. Recently did a job with the Scarlet for the first time. Needless to say, and in their grand wisdon, Red decided to completely throw out the old Red One menu scheme and replace it with nearly a complete new one, including icon changes as well. Anyway... after realizing that the old "chain" icon for jam sync was replaced by the word "Jam" (yes, that term was reserved for another menu function on the One), we still (both myself and the AC we're stumped) couldn't get the Scarlet to take hardwired TC output from my 744T with the Scarlet as slave. IN the end, we realized that ever time the Scarlet is powered …

Just got off another RED shoot (Scarlet, this time) and I've finally had it. It's not that it's the camera's fault - The problem is that morons can afford to shoot on RED. Obviously RED has some serious shortcomings with sound, but they're cameras - They're not audio recorders. Good productions understand this, but many productions don't. I thought I would share some experiences of when RED problems have become my fault. 1) RED One MX audio error: Not too long ago i worked on a short shot on a RED MX. I had NOTHING to do with the camera - no timecode and no sound to camera. Along the way, the camera started shutting down due to "audio errors." Turns ou…

At my current shoot I use the Ambient wireless TC link. For days there have been drop frames so they exchanged the body but still the problem persists. Now they are suspecting the Tc causes the drop frames. When the RF connection is lost the Alexa Tc blinks. Has anyone heard something like that?

I just bought a sony fs100 camera., set at 1080/25p fx. This should give a bit rate up to 24 mb/sec. When I connect the camera with usb2 cable to my mac pro and import it in premiere pro CS 5.0 then the images are very bad. The only thing I can find is that the bit rate of the images is about 2,8 mb/sec, which seems to be very low I think? So should this be the cause and what to do about it, or what could be the problem ?

I am shooting with a C300, yet again. Producer wants 30fps. Is the camera doing a true 30fps? Should I set my 788 to 30 or 29.97ndf? Thank you.

My friends - i think it has finally happened. A DSLR that almost gives us audio-heads what we have been longing for. It is not quite XLR, but Mini-Jack input at line level, and a headphone output port. As i read it, the Microphone input port can be set to accept line level sources, but the specifications are not completely clear on this. Fingers crossed..

Having worked with this camera a few times now, I have to say it's pretty nice. I like the informative onboard monitor read-out. It's small and quiet, except when it's idle (no cutting early or rolling late on multiple cameras - which you can do on the Alexa). I've recorded in a small room with three of them, and didn't find it problematic. I guess the Scarlet is same thing, except lower processing power, so fewer features. No concern of ours. I haven't run into any TC issues, but the projects I've done would likely not have issue, or would not report issue to me. The Alexa continues to be a camera department favorite. The Epic seems to be the nerd favor…

The show I am doing now is using BOXX video transmitters on the cameras which work pretty awesome but have noisy fans in them. I just learned that a show I am getting ready to start is going to add them. Have any of you addressed is issue with the manufacturer? Larry

Hello everyone. I have a shoot coming up with dual FS100's and I'm stumped on TC for this camera after reading through the manual and searching online as well as this forum. I hope you might be able to assist me. I've been asked to provide TC for the shoot. The issues I run into are as follows: The only TC I/O I can find is that TC can be dumped out from this camera via HDMI. I see no connections for accepting any incoming TC, and the manual does not state that TC can be jammed to the camera so far as I can tell. So, assuming I have read the manual correctly, the camera must function as the master TC generator, since TC only flows one direction: out. If that is c…

The show I'm currently on is shooting on Red Epic. A company was contracted to do all the transcoding and syncing. Audio not being sent to camera. I get a call that on day 2, over 20 percent of the clips are out of sync that I (sound) must fix. I called Denecke to check with them and they haven't heard of any issues. Got with the dit and scanned through clips. Everything looked good. After a few emails back and forth an issue was found with Redcine X. The latest build is having problems with one audio file is used to sync with 2 Red Clips. The post house dropped back a version and all is well. Be warned if this happens on your shoot,, Mark

Buenos Morning! On set with 2 Epics this AM and have a question about jamming: Last week I jammed these same two cameras (at that time were 3.00 and 2.79 I believe, today both at 3.00), from an SB-3 that was jammed by my 744t at free run 23.976. That week I used cam dept's BNC cable out of the SB-3 into the Epic synch jack via lemo 4 pin. When the Epic wouldnt jam immediately, Cam Op uses his "trick" of unplugging lemo from sych jack, plugs into control jack, then back into synch jack and Epic then jams. We test, DIT gives a thumbs up, and post has no synch difficulties. This week, new Cam Op says he doesnt like old Cam Ops method, feels the issue is with t…

Hi, Can anyone tell me if there's a fix or menu setting adjustment for this problem so it doesn't occur? Problem: A drop in return audio level drop when cam op hits record. What happened is this. I sent tone from my SD552 mixer to cam via snake cable and set levels. Then on SD552, engaged return A and set return audio levels to "0" to match what I was sending, all good. Sit down for interview, cam op hits record and the return audio level drops by about 10-15db, probably more. So I had to calibrate return audio while the cam was rolling. Then of course when cam stops recording, the return audio level raises and nearly blows my head off. I'm t…
