I have a novel situation and am curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this. It's a long post, so I apologize in advance. I often use 3 Lectro R1a's for camera scratch audio, so they can run off the same transmitter as the IFBs. I converted them to external power running off the camera, using Lectro 9V battery eliminators, P-tap cables, and a milled hole for the power connector. I have a 3.5mm TRS to XLR (tip to pin 2, pin 3 float, pin 1 GND) for audio. This setup has been in regular use, with no issues, for 4 years. Two weeks ago, all three R1a's failed, one after another, on one particular camera. The specifics of the damage are bei…

Just a little heads up. I worked with BM4.6k and the camera did not want to boot when TC from rx200 was fed in TC in. When the TC is removed camera boots fine.

Hey guys, Wanted to ask a quick question on the forum here about the Canon C300 Mark 2. I have used its previous model in the C300 awhile back where I was having minor timecode issues. Does anyone know, Does the Canon C300 Mark2 hold timecode well without the addition of a Lockitbox? Trying to make the Audio footprint as small as possible on Camera Rigs. Thanks!

what is the fastest and easy way to sync a sd664 to 2 cameras? can I do it easily without locket, i will have a complex kit on the shoulder and want to avoid other boxes if possibile, and honestly i am not very used to sync issue in general on film set. What is the basic work flow. I don't know yet if they will have a digital slate, what I know is they want a scratch audio on both camera and audio synced to them and want time code as TIME OF THE DAY , an assistant editor told me by phone that in past they used to jam at beginning of day and go. I am just afraid that with 2 cameras is going to be more complicated then that. What setting I have to make before to ja…

https://support.red.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001379467 The sheer utter madness of it all!! Just plain weird. Maybe RED should post out free little stickers to every owner to "correct" the labeling on their RED cameras!

You'd think companies which are making products for film production would bother to put care into making them silent?? But no, we have noisy cameras, noisy lights, noisy video wireless TX/RX, and noisy monitors. Just finished a shoot which had a director's monitor so loud I was initially questioning if the air conditioning was still on. And there was no way to make it quieter either. Just seemed unacceptably loud when you're only a few feet away from the actors in a quiet scene, but I couldn't very well kick the director out of the room (ha!) or tell them to look at the focus puller's monitor instead (and there was no other monitor available that could be used. Sigh. …

Does anyone have a source for the connector in the US? Or premade pigtail? Arri new york and la says 4-6 weeks. Trew in Nashville said no dice on any stock of connectors or premade pigtails. Also contacted wooden camera just to see if they sold pigtails, they only sell the A box which I'm trying to avoid -Ken

Hi all, Wondering which version of RED's bottom fan might impact recordings of the human voice the least, or which might be most transparently removable in post. Has anyone run noise reduction (RX or Audition) specifically on dialogue, both with Bottom Fan 1.0 and 2.0? I've heard that fan 1.0 has broad-spectrum white/brown style noise. And fan 2.0 has noise that's more distinct and more localized to certain frequency bands. Anyone compare the results after removing either type of noise? Is one cleaner to remove than the other? Thanks!

I'm looking for a small plate or holder that will help me mount a TC box (I have Denecke JB-1s and Tentacles) or perhaps a G3-sized RX to camera cages/plates 1/4-inch and/or 3/8-inch mounts. There is a bracket made for Tentacle Sync Es, but Denecke didn't have any recommendations. So I turn to all of you: What do you use to mount TC boxes (especially) to cameras besides velcro and such? There's this bracket made by Lanparte for Tentacle Sync E. Sizing is a smidge different from JB-1 sizing. But does anyone have first-hand knowledge on if you can wedge a JB-1 into this? https://shop.tentaclesync.com/product/sync-e-bracket-by-lanparte/ …

Heya! I guess most of you are familiar with mki and mkii of this camera. Its straight forward to slap on a TC box, set TC to in, preset, free run and its all thats needed to run smoothly. I could not get it to work on the mark iii today. Has anyone got a similair experience or got any 'gotchas' they could share? Only thing I can think of in hindsight was if the cable was broken or if there was a monitor setting that I didn't catch, but I had the impression that it didn't catch the TC at all.

Did my first shoot with a Tentacle Sync E, a Canon EOS 7D Mk 1 and a Sound Devices 10T. All went well until the import of the video and audio files into Tentacle Sync Studio. The software checks that the timecode is correct and shows that the audio and video are in sync. Except that they're not: the video lags the audio track, on which the LTC is recorded by, according to some research that I did on the internet, "1-2 frames" and you can correct for that that in the Tentacle software. However, clips from later takes still looked to be out of sync and needed 4-5 frames of correction. As this was a quick and dirty session, there was no slate (I don't normally do this kind o…

Making a breakaway end for a RED ONE(2x TA3M send/TA5M return) for my Nomad. Thought it would be simple but as with most things RED: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?55673-TA5-to-mini-jack Downloaded the manual... not a whole lot in there. Looks like there will be some poking around involved...

I had a shoot with a URSA mini pro last week and I found the camera VU meter to be somewhat foreign and that I had to turn the volume up all the way on channel 2 and about 80 percent on channel 1 to get any kind of level. I was feeding from a 664 thru a 10 pin cable. Mic level seemed to work but line level was not enough. Any hints. regards John in OKC

I seem to be running into some Panasonics lately, and would like to build a 5-pin XLR to 1/8" return adapter for my ENG snake. What is the correct pin out and are the neutral connections tied to shield/ground or floated? Thanks

I am working on a film that is shooting on Red Epic using an Element Technica wireless follow focus. After troubleshooting all my gear I realized it was the follow focus motors on the camera that was the cause of a constant, high pitch squeal. I can't seem to find any information about how to fix it. I have even taken the sound files into Pro Tools and it doesn't seem like a simple EQ or noise reduction fix, so I'd love to fix the problem at the source. I've seen on other brands you can reset the calibration to solve to problem. If this is the case with this brand and anyone knows how to perform this recalibration that would be super helpful. Or if the solution is somethi…

Hello hivemind! I had a cable made by Trewaudio for a ARRI Alexa Mini LF. The connector is a 6-pin lemo. When trying to use this cable for the first time, it simply wouldn't fit into the Arri's jack. It is not a bent pin issue (they're aren't bent)...in fact, the lemo connector on the cable won't even go in far enough to connect to the pins. So question: 1) Is it possible that Trew put on the 'wrong' 6-pin lemo end (is there even more than 1 type?) 2) anyone else run into this problem? Thanks!

I have mixed audio for RED epic before, but just a stereo mix. I know that the RED can record 4 channels of audio. I have two mixers in my bag, an FP33 and a Sounddevices Mix Pre-D. How would I get 4 channels of audio into the camera? Thanks!

You may find this interesting. From the 'Retro Thing' website. "The Kameradatenbank features a fantastic collection of movie camera photos from six German library and museum collections. Twenty four different film formats are represented, ranging from Regular 8mm through massive 60 mm cine monsters." There is a link dwon the page to the actual data bank.
