  1. Happy to be here, happy to be alive. May you all find something to be thankful for. May you all show someone the joy of love. CrewC
  2. Very worthy topic IMO. I've been lucky to have Marydixie Kirkpatrick as my boom op for close to 20 years. We've seen and done it all. Would of been a lot less fun without her. When she's not available I usually use my sons, Case or Cole. Case mostly mixes but still likes to swing the pole for myself and others when needed. Cole works for many good mixers and is often not available for the old man. There are many good LA boom ops so I am lucky when I need someone outside of the family. We are only as good as our team mates. I count video assist as members of my team and I am lucky to work with a few outstanding video monkeys too. Thankful. CrewC
  3. Really incredible video clip. What did it sound like? See if they have an iso track from your mic rig. Your my hero B B. Not many who could get up off the canvas after a hit like that. Please be sure to follow up with your doctor(s)... Happy T Bird Day. CrewC
  4. Bernie is a tuff MoFo. CrewC
  5. Fun, (having some) at work is very important, but a different topic. I think there was a conversation about that some years back. I know one thing for sure, it's much easier to have fun when you are getting the fair/full rate. CrewC
  6. MobileMike, In LA and I'd like to think NYC, there is no such thing as a 3 day week for short term work. A day is a day for labor and gear. TV in LA is also based on a week, not a 3 day week. I only work upper end commercials so I assume there are people who give it away in other arenas but I'd advise you not to for your own good as well as your sisters and brothers in the craft. CrewC
  7. Saw him n Joe Cocker in 70. Huge fan.. Most of my favorite songs of that era he had a hand in. Play on brother... Play on. I will be listening for all my time here on Earth. Who knows? maybe when I'm a Stranger in a Strange Land I will as well. RIP. CrewC
  8. Been many a decade since I've been to a party like the song sings about....., but I have been to a few back in the day. I dig the Dawes. Very talented IMO.
  9. Ha. Good one Al........ CrewC
  10. Well done Lectro. I can see a number of uses for the PDR. Price seems fair. Proof is in the sound quality. Can't wait to test one. CrewC
  11. FWIW, I always buy what I want. I know what I want for me. Could care less what others think about my gear. That said, I am Mac based. Zero issues in my needs so far. That's my base line. CrewC
  12. I've been looking into the Src's too. I'm a cart guy 99% of the time so in my system I use is an Lecrto Venue w blk 21 & 22 receivers in it, and I pass the antenna to my Sl-6 w a Srb blk 20 and a Srb blk 21 in it. Thinking of a Src with band A in it for my last slot. I've seen no difference in range in my set up, but I'm not using 411's . (I own 6 but seldom use them. My son does and likes them.) I'd also be interested in the bag set up/whip antenna real world usage from members here. CrewC
  13. In my bands back in 66, 67, 68, 69..., we never played in a venue that had a sound system or FOH mixer. We had to bring our own. Always the weak link back then IMO. We played at Parties, the YWCA, YMCA, and Country Clubs, and the Teen Center... One time at a Roller Rink. My all time favorite show? The Red Barn. A fraternity at Cal State Fullerton. Don't know their Greek name, but I remember this gig well. They "requested" (insisted) we play Gloria, Louie/Louie, & Satisfaction all night. We did. The 5 of us got 40 bucks. And a story or two. Maybe 3... CrewC
  14. Well made and acted as RPS said. Jim, do you know the history of this short? CrewC
  15. Good question. No real answer though. I hope it would of been as good as you did. The thing besides sexual harassment is that confronting a drunk has a lot of danger involved in it. Glad it was resolved with humor and grace. Weird world we live in. CrewC
  16. Sorry you got ripped off. Sorry someone would be that way. While I've yet to sell something here, I did buy a swivel for my schoeps off of a member. I find it valuable asset to jwsound. I hope it remains. CrewC
  17. This is great. I saw it somewhere else and completely forgot about it until now. WOW is right. Thanks. CrewC
  18. Agree.... You may even want to mix a few more years with tools like this.;~) CrewC
  19. I used the Dugan auto mix feature last week w 3 ad liber's in a van. Worked well though it wasn't the greatest test. Today I have 6 talent all adlibing and I'm very impressed with the results. Loving modern life as mixer. CrewC
  20. My iMac in my studio is as loaded as I could get it at the end of 2015. It has the horsepower to run anything so I don't think I'll have an issue w Resolve... I know people who use Premire and that is my plan B but I'm hope Resolve is all I need. I know it's a futile gesture but on principle I will never use FCPX. I still think Apple pulled a boner dropping the Pro market just as they were getting a loyal pro community using it. Thanks Obama. Oops! He had nothing to do with that happening but everything else bad in the world is his fault.... CrewC
  21. I've downloaded Resolve but I've not used it yet other than to look around it. I plan to edit a project I've already shot soon but you know how that goes. Could be a year before I get to it. Seems like a good replacement for FCP7 which I really liked and could use without thinking about the system and just edit. I'm sure that will come about with any system I end up using. Love to hear from others who use Resolve too. CrewC

    wingman?

From my tests, only one device can be in logged in and controlling a recorder at a time. Not a security issue. CrewC
