  1. Thanks R C.... Only MD thinks she walks on water;~). It is just the angle of the light. And I jack the shots in iPhoto a bit. Dryer than dry out there. In 4 days I drank more than 100 bottles of water plus plenty of Gatorade... Not much can live out there. Terrible place for people and gear, but great for photos. CrewC
  2. Dave was a good man. Gone way to soon. He was certainly well respected by his peers. A pro. My condolences to his family and many friends. RIP Dave. CrewC
  3. Death Valley.,, MD booming. 100+ degrees everyday... CrewC
  4. Sometimes I'm listed, other times not. If it's a real company doing the work I do, not even an issue for me. For the records being generated, I think anyone listed as sound man? mixer? audio? is implied as vendor for that gig. Never been an issue thus far. CrewC r.
  5. Never got to work with him but I heard nothing but great stories from those who did. Loved much of his work even if it was "pop" .... RIP Mr Marshall. CrewC
  6. I call this one "Sunrise over Basecamp. Santa Anita" CrewC "L A Commute"
  7. A friend is doing a music video in LA next weekend. All my gang is working or we'd cover it for her as a favor. Normally I' never ask anyone to work on a low budget shoot but ya never know who might want a chance to meet new people and practice their craft. $400.00 a day labor & gear. On stage. Playback over speakers and feed song to a Arri mini. Thanks. CrewC
  8. All valid points of view. One thing I'll never do is give it away or absorb the cost as part of my basic package. If production or post is driving how we do our gig, (rfs on all) they will pay extra or they will get "that fuckin guy" who will do it for no extra cost. I've worked damn near 40 years and we have always kept the prices up,never giving a 3 or 4 day week. I use to feel a hate for "those fuckin guys", now it's basically a sorrow in how much they are not making and how they are screwing things for those who follow. Also thanks SD. Always working to make better products whether we use them or not. CrewC
  9. Mine seem to be correct. Could I be missing a few? I'm sure it could be off a few one way or another but it is very close. I do keep my hard copy somewhere.... CrewC
  10. I don't know Rado. Wall Street which is US business got hammered today. Time will tell. CrewC
  11. Hard to see an upside from this side of the pond. Big fan of England. Hope it all works out, but my gut says it was a non reversible mistake. I've read a lot about it, but it has been all but a non story on Fox/CNN/MSNBC. Seems like a bigger deal than the lack of coverage suggests. CrewC
  12. Yes. Forgot about the aux trks. I read Mike saying 8 tracks total. Perhaps I read it wrong. I have a 633 and the 688 but I've never been around a 664 but if it's like it's siblings, I know it's a good recorder/mixer. We live in a good time for pro gear. CrewC
  13. Hey Mike, 688 give you 12 tracks iso and 2 mix tracks. CrewC
  14. Happy B Day to Brian Wilson. Big fan. CrewC
  15. Kudos.. I like everything about the cart. Thanks for sharing. CrewC
  16. Thanks Double P. Happy Father's Day to you and all the dads out there in jwsound land. I am working today in DTLA but for me, everyday is Fathers Day. Cheers. CrewC
  17. I've been called far worse.... As for the OP, maybe a little more effort and a lot less attitude will get you further down the road you're traveling. Best of luck. CrewC
  18. Welcome Ben. I have a 633 and a 688 w a SL-6 and Lectro Srb's and a CL-12. All good for my commercial world. My question to you, are you going the SL-6 radio mic option? That is 688 only feature. Obviously only you know your world but if you go w the 664 & CL-12 you will have a lot of fire power available. CrewC
  19. "House done, man die" is an old Chinese proverb I believe in. I think there is a world of interesting things one can do in life at any age. For me staying positive & plugged in is my goal. I've done so many rewarding things thus far and have a list a mile long still to do. Will I get them all done? What? And finish the house? Sadly we all die and leave this life, but I hope to do so knowing I gave it my all. Onward through the fog and into the new day brothers and sisters. Onward. CrewC
  20. It'd be a great way to do travel logs. Take people places that many could not visit easily, like mountain climbing, scuba diving, surfing, etc. Inside out VR seems interesting that way. Outside in VR, (360 ring of cameras looking in) of say a boxing ring w fighters going at it and the viewer could look at from any pov would lend itself to scenarios and or scenes better that inside out could. CrewC
  21. I've done 5 or 6 VR gigs w different gags. None good IMO. I think wiring all actors and letting post place them in the VR world is the best. Still don't see how it will ever be used in fictional storytelling. CrewC
  22. Not to compare what we do with Paul Simon and his peers, but after seeing him and his band last Sunday night, I think it all comes down to doing it while ya can and you still enjoy it. They went way deep to do it right and well. I applaud them for the effort, most mostly the result. At 74, Paul seems at the top of the game and doing great work for Paul Simon Inc and his legacy... I think I want to go deep as I can after I'm not Mixing for money... Like Haskel Wexler did in his life. Interested and actively involved. Making something for myself and others. Being in the "Parade of Life" and not watching it from the curb. When it's all said and done, it will matter little in the big picture, but a lot to us and our families and friends. CrewC
