  1. I've been using a Kangaroo PC and an Ipad Mini And Pro for few years. here is the link To Kangaroo: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16856659001
  2. Movie Slate 7 still partially works with Zaxcom Nomad touch software. only Scene and Take number get updated automatically. I believe Zaxcom didn't go further with integration.
  3. If you are using Kangaroo and Ipad via wifi, make sure it's not on the same wifi channel as Zaxnet. It's little tricky to change windows wifi channel but you can try to change Zaxnet frequency and see if that help. Hardwire for me has almost no latency at all.
  4. I have 3 AA Cells, one 5VDC and two dummies. Just use red and black wire for pin 1&4.
  5. I'm using Nomad Touch on my Ipad via wifi. It's not ideal but better than having a full size usb connector attached to a tablet in the bag. You can use a wifi hotspot app like Connectify to be able to have a peer-to-peer network. The range is enough to burry the mini-pc in the bag and walk around with an iphone or Ipad. There is a module to transcode serial to wifi signal, but it's too technical for me to figure it out. it's called ESP8266.
  6. It's a Kortwich bag for Nomad. RX-12 barely fits, but it's a compact setup. I'm using a medium K-tek Sting ray now.

  8. This is for anyone who travel to Dubai for audio work. I've lived there between 2004-2013. Currently based in New York. I owned blocks 19-25 and they were pretty much clear. ( No TV Station within that Frequency length ) Comteks are a bit an issue. i'd suggest to use Dipole or Phase right antenna. It's always a good idea to include your kit list with camera kit. Dubai Airports are usually easy to deal with when you show them a camera along with the rest of the gear. 9. Here: RX-12 is not that heavy in my opinion. I only use 1-2 Receivers when i do run and gun stuff ( not so much of it these days ). The software is really good and pretty much without any bug or issues so far, but there is plenty of room for improvement.
  10. I'm also waiting for those covers. RX-12 is a great product and i'm very satisfied with it's simplicity and Range. I use it in my bag with 2-3 Receivers and more on my cart. Also i'm in touch with Kortwich at the moment to come up with a better bag tailored for RX-12 and nomad.
  11. Question: I've just received my amp , antenna and cables. My first test ended up with Red light on Tx LED. Meanwhile i've got decent range with my IFB , but not sure if the red light is good sign on my amp. Any advice from users? Devices : Zaxcom nomad - ZAXNET gain : 5 amp : l-com 2401G-100

  13. interesting thoughts. by the way as i mentioned , i went to audiologist few months back and did the whole checkup. there was some audio frequency test into my ear , also some word recognition , which was hearing some word into a headphone with very low level and try to repeat them if you can hear them well. i've scored that test for 94% hearing ability which doctor said it's great. what he've offered me was these custom made ear plugs which i can use them when im in very loud level environment. i tested these but it doesn't help but also it just worsen it .. since you cant hear anything else , then that ringing is much more louder in your ears.
  14. Eric, will check with Sennheiser In Dubai , if it's no go then i'll ship it to you for a service. Merci ! ( Thanks In Farsi )
  15. Mine started 4 months ago and whenever the room is quiet i can hear it. I use to have those temporary ones after listening to loud sound like after a concert But this thing is just constant.
  16. Interesting that i've been using 7506's for the past 12 years. Im sure its not entirely because of headphone or lets say working in audio industry. I can relate this issue to so many things such as anxiety , or ear infection etc. But very good point , maybe changing the headphones for a while will help it.
  17. Hi guys i've been experiencing ringing in my ears ( tinnitus ) for the past couple of months. thought it is temporary and it will go away ... but after 2-3 months i've realized that it's sort of permanent. went to the audiologist and did a full Frequency tests , etc and all looked Clear. doctor said , it must be from listening to headphones for long period of time. the good thing is , when im distracted and busy doing something , i cant hear anything. but when it's quiet , i can say 70% of the time , i can hear that ringing mostly in my right ear. any of you guys having this issue ? any solution or tips to reduce it ? Thanks , and Stay Healthy !
  18. Thanks Tom , can you send me your Sennheiser dealer's contacts? $10,$20 is worth it , since i have two units with the same problem. i don't think i can find those spare antennas here in dubai. Sennheiser dealer in here just sell new products.
  19. Hi Guys Im based in Dubai , United Arab Emirates. can travel all over the middle east , asia. Thanks http://www.rock-studio.com
  20. So i have two of these EW100 receivers with the same condition. tried to open one of them , but antenna is somehow sealed into a plastic box. Is there any way i can fix this by myself ? or do you know anyone who can do this? i've contacted sennheiser here in dubai , but they just said " Buy a new one " Thanks

  22. Well , in my case director is so younger . 75 ! but he understands all aspects of the sound. But since this is his first feature film shooting on Digital Camera ( RED ) he is experiencing The whole New world of Adventure.he is so happy that 3 camera can cover the entire scene with Wide/Med/Tight Fully covered with one setup. he was telling me that i guess these days the only way to get clean and safe sound is to Use lav mics and even have them on actors to cover the atmos and footsteps etc ! I told him , you are wrong my friend , these days there are still thousands of ways to get great sound , with a little bit of patient , a bit more teamwork between sound and camera dept. How is that possible to watch 3 Monitors with 3 different shots at the same time anyway? i guess that i've learned my lesson : having a meeting with DP before the shoot , discuss the work flow ! no more feature with craziness like this for me so i wont end up recording monotone Sound quality and add my name into the end credit ! Sam
  23. Thanks guys for all the great input .. That was a big relief ! .. it was one of those moments that you , your boom op and Utility sit next to the cart and watch multi angle camera action and listening to some monotone 8 channel lavs ! i guess we all fighting for doing our best and create quality sound , but i guess sometimes it's all about sacrificing everything for the sake of the production's budget or sometimes the beautiful picture ! .. since yesterday , i've just pulled the plug out of myself and just keep recording what i can and moving on until the movie is over ! having an open mic for getting the atmos of the room was really helpful .. i guess it might work in the mix with lav to sound more natural. Sam
  24. Working on a feature , with 2 and sometimes 3 red cams simultaneously during all the scenes. the reason is to shoot faster , and get this movie done in like 28 shooting days. My problem is when dp framing the shots , he always keep one camera as super wide and the 2nd and 3rd cam will do tight shots during the dialogues. i've tried to convince the production that this situation is no good for the sound since im keep recording individual lavs on actors and i can say only 20% boom since the beginning of the shoot , but they've said they cant push anything and i have to deal with this situation. My question is , how can i help the perspective aspect of the sound when i just able to get lav mics and it always sounds the same no matter what distance is between the actor and the camera , and also i've tried to get the boom in the room and just record the atmos somehow so the dialogues off mic in the room might work in mix with lav mics. Any suggestion for situations like this? sam
