I know this is an old post, but did you get any explanation from Sound Devices? It’s really weird to have two files in the same folder with the same name. A DIT friend had this same problem today with a 688.

Alright I realized I just had to switch the tip and ring, and now it sounds great when I hold the receiver in my hand — sometimes. When it gets within a few inches of the Alexa, there's strong interference over the whole signal. I thought this Comtek would work as a cheap solution for dailies, but now I know we need to get some real hops.

I made a cable today following Jürg's recommendation, but it doesn't sound good. There's a weird sort of interference over the signal, but in quiet moments, it sounds clean. I also tried disconnecting the tip and ring (one at a time), and in both cases, it sounds much worse. Any ideas how to fix it?
